  1. Boy talk about getting themselves stuck in the mud over nuttin' Hopefully the various attempts to explain what selfies actually are may at least attenuate that nonsense at least a little.
  2. Truly is BS. I wonder what argus means by "an awful lot" The wild, non substantiated assumptions he makes are numerous.
  3. And you'd be right. Even Ray Charles could see through that. I suspect it has to do with the righties licking their wounds, and they will likely continue to do so ad nauseum. So far playing childish name games is all they got. Might keep them occupied for a while though.
  4. Harper created the resource industry? You're outdoing yourself there. He didn't create it, he just relied too heavily on it.
  5. Harper's all eggs in one oil basket certainly headed us there, but now perhaps we can advance into new markets/economies. We'll leave you old boys to fret over immigrants.
  6. I guess if you have to ask if a guy driving by a load of Syrian refugees getting off a bus and assaulting them is islamophobia, you really should go spend some time trying to comprehend the term.
  7. Go up to the top of the page, read it, and get back to us.
  8. All of the above if they find the perp. It's called assault, even if it's a brown person
  9. Yeah I do seem to recall it did say something about Canada somewhere. Oh yeah, like in the thread title. Islamophobia however, seems to not respect borders.
  10. What is much more important is to ensure they are treated equally if/when they seek refuge in this country. That includes the men as well.
  11. In any case, I don't see or hear of a lot of antisemitism here, but then maybe I don't live where that's occurring.
  12. I guess it might be a bit of an issue to you if you just arrived in Canada and someone rode by on a bike and squirted pepper spray in your face.
  13. I agree totally that some of the cultural practices in some countries are worrisome. Especially what I have seen myself in some of those countries, especially the poorer ones where, such as Afghanistan, where something like 80% of the people are illiterate. However I am also concerned how (some) people rush to judgement regarding the whole of the culture and use whatever interpretation they can find of the actual tenets of the religion to back them up. A lot of the same folks seem to ignore that the same attacks have been made about most religions, especially, and including Christianity, which had many extremely violent facets.
  14. I provided a link, however I certainly can't assume it's correctness as I certainly don't speak Arabic. I'm simply pointing out the discrepancies. Can you provide one?
  15. Still waiting for your selected Koranic interpretation which shows women are nothing more than breeding devices.
  16. Alright so agreed then. You go by the translation that suits you, as will I.
  17. So you don't then. As I said, there are numerous english interpretations. The one I linked for you probably has one you don't like so you'll of course dismiss it.
  18. It does devolve to that at times.
  19. Oh, so you read Arabic then?
  20. Do you have a problem with this one? http://islamicsupremecouncil.org/understanding-islam/legal-rulings/5-jihad-a-misunderstood-concept-from-islam.html?start=9
  21. I am quite sure you can find an interpretation of the Koran that suits whatever avenue you choose to go down, whatever it may be.
  22. No, I'd like you to answer my initial question as to where you seem to suggest the Koran says women are nothing more than breeding devices.
  23. So you continue to ignore the misogyny, OK. Do you happen to know the Arabic word for war? Give you a hint, it's not jihad.
  24. I think we all know what jihad refers to. Of course you didn't bother to back up your comment re: women.
  25. I'm afraid that says nothing to back your claim. Try again, or...maybe just leave it.
