  1. Ontario must have seen its own shadow. Frightend it fell back into old and bad habits.
  2. My point is enough Albertans trusted Klien to give him 60% of the vote. In Romanow's last election Romanow lost the popular vote. More people in Saskatchewan trusted the Saskatchewan party than Romanow. That is if one can equate votes to trust. on another note Switzerland the oldest democracy on the planet is highly decentralized. Even with two languages they have managed to stick together for 500 years.
  3. Perhaps Canadian are to vulnerable to Liberal fear mongering and scapegoating. Maybe the Liberals should film a documentary of Klien Kong from the redneck, biblethumping, hinterland of Alberta climbing the C.N. tower holding documents threatening to bring American style healthcare to Canada. Hopefully Canadian's won't wet their pants. Who destroyed more hospitals Klien Kong or Rowmanow.
  4. Then why did Albertans give him over 60 percent of the vote if they don't trust him.
  5. Why is there a double standard in the media? Why is it when a Conservative mentions the notwithstanding clause the media horse whips them and when it is mentioned by Liberals it goes largely ignored? Even when the comment are made by Paul Martin appointed privy council member and M.P. Roger Gallaway. read more here ctv story from globe and mail
  6. I prefer to know how my MP will vote according to the national policy. So--I must ask: enhance democracy for who? The backbenchers? Or the people? I prefer the latter. Then why vote in M.P.s at all? Why don't we get rid of them all together save some money, change the system, and just vote for a president? There was once a time where individual M.P. mattered and could make a difference without being in cabinet.
  7. Thanks to the NDP governments in Sask, many native Saskites are already living in Alberta. To bad they don't count the foot vote in their provincial elections.
  8. Where they have removed compulsory voteing for local elections voter turn out droped vote
  9. what is the other genocide? Arab population is not going to be zero any time soon.
  10. Maintaining surplus would be important. use half of every surplus to pay down the debt. once the debt is paid down use half of every surplus to purchass U.S. bonds because we know there are many of them and the U.S. will pay the intrest. Lower taxes as intrest pays for more and more government services. If possible eliminate most if not all taxes and pay the citizens excess which is not required to run the government.
  11. In Australia it is compulsory. A person can still spoil their ballot as well. Is it wise to force people to vote without forcing them to educated themselves on who to vote for?
  12. Under the soviets in Russia they always boasted higher voter turn outs, they also had big fancy buffets at the polling stations.
  13. There would have to be some indication that this would not be the only time that the people of any province get to decide their senators. They are still alive.
  14. I'm getting lefter and lefter all the time! Don't worry many conservatives are working hard to find a cure for your ailment.
  15. This would make the movie the highest grossing movie ever. Not very likely in my opinion. Dennis Miller said it best when he called Moore an "annoying slug, who deserves to get his ass kicked".
  16. Most likely it is the last chance for a day off heading in to this last week.
  17. This sounds like patronage of one form or another. This is a combination of patronage from the provincial and federal governments. The people of every province in this country deserve to be represented on the national stage by those who are elected to do so.
  18. I don't believe Klien has every liked Harper much like Klien was never fond of Manning either. I think he wants to be top man in Alberta. Klien will most likely run his next election campaign on these health care reforms, which may be as soon as November. Chretien never had 60% of the popular vote as Klien gets. Chretien was not as good at keeping major election promises as Klien has been. Klien is hardly extreme.
  19. The Liberals often like to claim that they were solely responsible for the robust economy in the 90's. I would like for somebody to tell me the what laws they enacted, or policies that they put forward to make such a claim.
  20. Then she should make that decision with her own credit card. All those who defend abortion have had the privilege of being born.
  21. Issues like debt and deficit reduction were brought to the fore front by the Reform party in the early and mid 90s while in opposition. One should remember that Harper was very active in policy creation when he was with the Reform party. Harper also worked on some policy with regards to the legality of quebec separation. Much of this work made it's way into the Clarity bill of Jean Cretien. Does It make the Liberals Evil since they have put into law Harper's policies. Instead of repeating Martin from the debates about the 50 billion black hole I would suggest some research into the conservative platform comparing it to that of the liberals and realize that money for health and tax cuts is better than giving money for expanding bureaucracy.
  22. Remember that Harper was a aid to a PC MP in the mid Eighties before joining the reform party, He was also approached by PC MP's to run for the PC leadership in 1998. And so the Conservative Tory ties are real and go back a long way as with many Reformers. The new Conservative coalition seems a lot like the Mulroney coalition without the Quebec support that is needed for a majority.
