  1. Yes, I have read some of Hitler's writings. Hitler was not at all a "lefty" and you are sadly wrong if you think so. Hitler believed the #1 evil in the world was Soviet-style socialism, partly due to his belief that it was a way to concentrate power in the hands of Jews, but primarily because it's political theories were diametrically opposed to Hitler's corporatist beliefs. Fascism, as practiced by Hitler, Mussolini, Franco, etc., was not a leftist philosophy. If anything, Communists and Socialists were their biggest enemy. Hitler's main beef with western-style capitalism is that he believed it encouraged race mixing and the mongrelization of pure European blood. Hitler signed a non-agression pact with the Soviet Union, and Hitler was a huge Karl Marx fan. National Socialism is to the right of communism, but still socialist. Hitler championed the rights of workers, regarded capitalist society as brutal and unjust, sought a 3rd way between communism and the free market. He disliked smoking, regarded it as a serious danger to public health, and took steps to combat it. He also enacted tough gun control laws, and he advocated euthanasia for the incurably ill. If you had read the Nazi Party's manifesto, written by Hitler, you'd have seen this: The first duty of every citizen must be to work mentally or physically. The activities of the individual may not clash with the interests of the whole, but must proceed within the frame of the community and be for the general good. Therefore we demand: That all unearned income, and all income that does not arise from work, be abolished. Since every war imposes on the people fearful sacrifices in life and property, all personal profit arising from the war must be regarded as a crime against the people. We therefore demand the total confiscation of all war profits whether in assets or material. We demand the nationalization of businesses which have been organized into cartels. We demand that all the profits from wholesale trade shall be shared out. We demand extensive development of provision for old age. We demand the creation and maintenance of a healthy middle-class, the immediate communalization of department stores which will be rented cheaply to small businessmen, and that preference shall be given to small businessmen for provision of supplies needed by the State, the provinces and municipalities. We demand a land reform in accordance with our national requirements, and the enactment of a law to confiscate from the owners without compensation any land needed for the common purpose. The abolition of ground rents, and the prohibition of all speculation in land. Hitler's National Socialists were obsessed with perfect health and perfect humans and soon started to kill the disadvantaged, just like the left supports unlimited abortion, and pulling the plug from "vegetables". Hitler was also very anti-Jew, again a hallmark of today's left (and far right).
  2. 1) Bush is going to sign the renewal of the Patriot Act: Good. This will continue to allow law enforcement and intelligence agencies to share intelligence. No more "wall" like during the Clinton administration (Jaime Gorelick) that hurt intelligence regarding 9-11. This will help keep Americans safer from the terrorists who dream of killing millions of Americans. 2) Senate panel rejects bid for NSA inquiry. Good. The Bush administration will now be able to continue to monitor phone calls from terrorists, thus making Americans safer. 3) Democrats...let the seething begin!
  3. But what about the very angry and very public Ann Coulters, Rush Limbaughs, and Bill O'Reillys of the right? I think their left wing counterparts (Al Franken, Michael Moore) are just funny, employing satire, not anger. Coulter and Limbaugh are professionally angry. Not sure why you lumped O'Reilly in with the other two. Franken made a video when he released his last book, showing him beating up a conservative, including smashing a chair over his back. I thought I was watching WWE for a second. I couldn't believe that Amazon allowed that video on their site to promote his book. Franken also used force when he tackled a heckler to the ground during a Howard Dean rally. I don't recall any righties throwing pies and other objects at liberal speakers. Conservative speakers have been attacked numerous times. 2 guys even tried to assault Ann Coulter, and she is a woman. Take a look at the anger from elected Democrats. Howard Dean, Ted Kennedy, Dick Durbin, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, etc. You can throw in the fire-breathing al-Gore in there too, Al Sharpton, Charlie Rangel, etc.
  4. You just know that 3 letter word is coming up next... It’s important in the US constitutional system that the final decision as to what information during wartime should be classified or not...should be made by newspaper editors rather than elected representatives of the people? Wow. No wonder these arrogant elitists are losing reader and viewership. Hmmm... I wonder why there would be an "out of control" leaking of classified information by government officials with access to the info. Maybe people inside intelegeince community trying to draw attention to the true nature of their governments war mongering? No, couldnt be. We should allow this unlawful admin to countinue classifying anything that may expose their 'war on terror' for what it really is. Special FBI agents are interviewing dozens of people and the leaks seem to be pointing towards co-chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Senator Jay Rockefeller, Senator Dick Durbin, and Senator Ron Wyden. Apparently all 3 are going to be asked to take a polygraph test. The Bush administration has had numerous leaks crucial to American security. The Democrats are so partisan, that they want to cripple America--because that would make Bush look bad. Hopefully the are charged with crimes against America - treason - and are indicted. Same with the NY Times for alerting the terrorists that the Bush adinistration was eavesdropping on their phone calls.
  5. August1991: Jeez, relax August. I had a wink emoticon--I was joking. I came across the WaPo article later in the day, was shocked to read that comment from the editor, but didn't start another thread as I had already started some other threads that day. I don't want to flood the forum (like Mirror used to), so I figured I would slip it in here. You shouldn't take this forum so seriously. When a newbie comes here and errs by posting an entire article, or posts a partial article without a link (credit), you threaten to immediately email the moderator. The rest of us just tell the newbie that full articles or partial articles not credited (linked) is against forums rules. The newbie usually says "oops, sorry I didn't know that; I won't do it again". It's handled in an adult manner and no one has to annoy the moderator for trivial matters. I'm sure Greg has more important things to do. Of course it is ludicrous to suggest the media gets together and have secret meetings. I never said, nor suggested that. You're projecting. I resent being forced to pay for a channel that is openly anti-conservative and links Harper to Hitler (both "cropping errors", so said the CBC). The other ones can be as slanted as they want, but they have viewers/advertisers to answer to...and if ratings are poor... However, the topic is about the Liberal Party's close relationship with the MSM. 1) President and CEO of TorStar running for Liberal Leadership. 2) Liberal Party gets its Governor Generals from the CBC. 3) Aspers have strong ties to the Liberal Party. Indeed, I believe one of the Aspers was the leader of the Manitoba Liberal Party. Democracies should not have major media organizations having such cozy relationships to a political party. How can you trust them to look at the Liberal Party with an objective, or at times, critical eye?
  6. Black Dog: Popular Lefty rag shows its support for the troops: Underreported by the media? WTF is this woman smoking? Renew your subscription and we will post hundreds more Abu Ghraib pics!....but we support America's troops. This story was beaten to death 2 years ago, the perpetrators have been punished; pathetic of Salon. And yet Salon refused to publish the Mohammed cartoons because they are accessible elsewhere on the web...
  7. Hitler was a socialist. He despised capitalism and championed socialism. Nazi is short for National Socialist German Workers Party. Have you ever read Hitler's manifesto for the Nazi Party?
  8. Saskatoon Star Phoenix: It depicted Jesus having oral sex on a pig. The Star Phoenix article doesn't show the pic, and it has been yanked off the Sheaf's website, but you can see the 2 frames here (scroll down to 'Capitalist Piglet' cartoon) Yeah right. Hypocrites! I'll give him credit for doing the right thing. Why are some so hostile to Christianity? I admit that Falwell, Roberts, Roberts, etc are whackos, but both sets of my grandparents were regular churchgoers (3-4 times per month) and they were just regular hardworking decent people. Most of the churchgoers that I have run into seemed to be good folk. Jesus was good folk, so why are so many hateful (Piss Christ) towards him? Do they despise God/Jesus/Mary (animal feces-smeared Mary) because they feel it is a threat to their "God"--the state?
  9. Not in my case. Chasing the almighty buck caused my illness and forced me to retire early. I have less possessions, a lot less money but am a whole lot happier. In fact I'm still getting rid of stuff. I think the "money buys happiness" is an immature illusion. And as far as the depression part, the black and white world of Monty's ilk don't seem too happy. Check out some of the angry posts on this slightly right leaning forum. Sorry to hear about your illness. It is just common sense that wealthy people are happier. Can money buy you happiness? In some ways, yes. In some ways, no. Back to topic: This is 34 yrs in a row that Pew has shown Republicans being happier than Democrats. It was 45 to 30 this year, and when you break it down to 'conservative republicans' versus 'liberal democrats', the gap widens to 47 to 28. It's not the rightwingers who are angry; it is the liberals. I admit I find their seething amusing and when they explode, it can be pure comedy gold. Check out some of the posts on this forum.
  10. Ralph Peters, who works for the NY post, which is owned by Rupert Murdoch, who owns the Fox News Channel, files another report from the Iraq: But they do tell me that. They do. Civil war, quagmire, plastic turkeys, 100 zillion innocent Iraqi women and children killed, and the soft bigotry that Iraqis are incapable of creating some semblance of a democracy.
  11. Black Dog: I see you are unfamiliar with the concept of sarcasm. And you certainly suggested he was a moron. More BD projection. You said he took one 30 mile drive. He clearly states that he took more than one drive. Where is your reading comprehension? Oh yeah. That notoriously rightwing MSM. Have another hit off the bong. You were questioning his integrity because he was a paid employee of Rupert (Fox News) Murdoch.
  12. uhm oook(confused here), so what was untrue with GostHacked post then? You just agreed with him and yet you said "Most of what you said is untrue." 2 posts earlier ! I was just trying to prove that what he said was true. Get off the horse buddy. That is the way he rolls up in this bitch. And that CBS link you gave is fantastic! Even the old evil watching all seeing eye of the CBS is saying what we already know. The funny thing is, I remember when this was all happening in the 80s. I listened to the news regularly. Eventhough I was just a kid during the 80s, I recall so much of the US getting involved in Iraq. Burnsy might not be old enough to remeber even recent history. lost&outofcontrol, I think I am gonna make a trip to the library, pull out some old newspapers nd check that out. I am glad I am in Canada, so I am not privy to the new Patriot Act and NSA spying. I should scan those articles then post them somewhere, I would be violating copyright laws, but man would it be worth it to prove to Monty and Co that they are blind as bats without ears. Oh please do. I'm always up for a larf. Nothing more entertaining than another conspiracy tale from the frothing moonbats.
  13. uhm oook(confused here), so what was untrue with GostHacked post then? You just agreed with him and yet you said "Most of what you said is untrue." 2 posts earlier ! I was just trying to prove that what he said was true. Get off the horse buddy. What's the point of posting something we already know? Buy.A.Clue
  14. Exactly. Fact is, there is no proof of any real ties, just your assumptions. We all know if there was any real evidence of Al Qaeda/Iraq cooperation, the U.S. would be trumpeting from the mountaintops. But they've done nohing but backpedal away from their earlier claims of ties between the regime and AQ. Why do you suppose that is? Why the hell would the Bush administration sit on information that would benefit them imensely? I've asked that many times before (in relaton to this, the WMD issues etc.) and you've never once answered why that is, which leads me to beleive you know very well you're claims are unsupportable, yet you cling to them anyway in a staggering display of intellectual dishonesty and partisan blindness. How pathetic can you get? Seriously. What do you want? Photographic evidence? Bush has spoken numerous times about Al Qaeda links to Saddam's terrorist haven. What the hell? Do you think Bush should have daily addresses to the nation, or daily press conferences? Read a book about Bush. He doesn't think the press speaks for the country. I agree. Also, he's got work to do instead of playing immature political games. Like Harper, he knows that the press is hostile to conservatives. Only the most stubborn pigheaded partisan would deny that Al Qaeda had numerous ties with Saddam's Iraq. They've even found documents in Iraq proving this. The 2 chairmen of the 9-11 commission said that there was numerous links between Iraq and Al Qaeda; they just couldn't find enough proof that Saddam collaborated with Al Qaeda in 9-11. But Bush never said Saddam was involved in 9-11 (although a federal judge made a legal ruling that Iraq was involved in 9-11). It's difficult to take you seriously...
  15. Too many of these Muslims overreact to the most minor things. They really need to get over themselves.
  16. It's rude to start a thread devoted to flaming a forum member. You even put his name in the title. Not nice.
  17. Quebec's daycare plan didn't exactly work very well, so why would someone want this implemented on a national scale?
  18. From the article: Silly Deborah. The press isn't giving it attention because he is a Democrat. Now if he was running for the Republicans, it would be front page headlines and the top news story on the TV news. The press knows that Democrats never come out against the numerous radicals in their party, so they are going to help the Dems by basically ignoring this shocking statement. Ah yes. Cause Republican representatives want to kill homosexuals... Another victim of Karl Rove's Evil Mind Control Ray Gun.
  19. Black Dog: There's certainly nothing inherently positive about liberalism (Class warfare! Murdered babies! Gay GAY GAAAYYY!! There are no terrorists!) Conservatives believe in the people's ability to come up with answers. They believe in less govt regulation and govt interference. They believe that they should have the freedom to solve more things on a local or state level, instead of some centralized behemoth thousands of miles away interfering in their lives. Conservatives have compassion for the victims of crime, not the perpetrator of the crime. How's that for black and white? Interesting that you brought thta up. MacLeans recently had an article about a study that showed that the wealthy are happier. I wasn't surprised. It's just plain common sense. How's that for black and white? I don't know. 24 of the top 25 largest donations through those 527 groups went to the Democrat Party. I suspect the caricature of the GOP being full of rich people isn't true. I know that Harper's CPs got far more grassroots donations ($200 maximum) than the Liberals and the NDP.
  20. Claiming that the Jews invented the Holocaust is extremely insensitive. It happened. Everyone knows that. About 6 million were killed. I wonder how many have seen these caricatures. I saw all 12 and only 3 were mean-spirited. They referenced Islam's penchance for suicide bombers. Not "politically correct" maybe, but unquestionably true. The other 9 were harmless. They exaggerated the length of Mohammed's nose. Big deal. That is common in caricatures. Mulroney and Leno with the big chin; Letterman with a big gap between his teeth; Nixon with the ski-slope nose, and Jimmy Carter--all teeth. Many news items don't mention that some Danish imams made up 3 false cartoons and toured the ME to stir up trouble. Islam has a problem with these radical imams. At least the Iraqis didn't go nuts, so maybe there's hope yet for the Muslim world.
  21. Libraries are part of our education system. I can't believe you support this book as recommended reading for 8 to 11 y/o children. There already is book banning in Canada. My local library refused to order in the controverisal Unfit For Command by the Swift Boat Veterans, claiming it got "poor reviews". They also refused to order in Ann Coulter's newest book, How To Talk To A Liberal (If You Must), claiming it got "poor reviews".
  22. Sparhawk: His ""Do you see how this economic system is at odds with humanity? At odds with caring and compassion? It's at odds with human rights" statement is incorrect. Poor people lack wealth. Capitalism creates wealth. Socialism does not create wealth. It isn't caring nor compassionate to loot wealth from the individuals who created it. Vast inefficient govt bureaucracies that over-regulate and over-tax hinder wealth creation. The poor don't need handouts from the govt. Our inner cities (a testament to socialist policies) are testament to that. Ditto for Canada's Native population. And socialist govts need to get off the backs of the people who create wealth--the ambitious, the rich. Incentive is a good thing. Socialism doesn't offer much for incentive. Indeed, it hinders the incentive factor. Look at the US. They are on the cutting edge of almost every industry. Have you seen what the US govt judges to be "poor"? These people are hardly destitute. Who is a poor person better off under: Bill Gates or Mother Teresa. A society that creates wealth brings up everybody's standard of living. And societies that are wealthy can afford to give to the truly disadvantaged through their own free will--through charities, NGOs, and yes, through their local church. No one is as generous as the Americans when it comes to giving to the needy. They don't have to put their old clothes/towels, etc in a garage sale to make a few bucks to get by. A wealthier society usually can't be bothered with that; it's a lot easier to just give them away--plus the satisfaction of helping somebody of your own free will, instead of being forced to do it. People who claim to help they want to help the poor, but oppose capitalism, do not really have the interests of the poor in mind. As Thomas Sowell once quipped: "To liberals, "compassion" means giving less productive people the fruits of the efforts of more productive people. But real compassion means enabling less productive people to become more productive themselves. That way, the poor have not only more material things but also more self-respect, as well as more respect from others, and the society as a whole has a higher standard of living and less internal strife." Or from the father of economics, Adam Smith: "It is not from the benevolence of the butcher, the brewer or the baker that we expect our dinner, but from their regard to their own interests." I have never known much good done by those who affected to trade for the public good." You may call it self-interest or "greed" but it has proven to work most of the time. This bothers some people because they're more concerned with motives than with results. Columbia should destroy all the US tobacco crops because the US is trying to destroy Columbian coke fields? Iran, North Korea, and Zimbwabe should get to gether and pre-emptively attack the US because it has WMD? Pure anti-Americanism in a sophomore georgraphy class. Oh, and the "neocons" do speak for America; they won the last election. It was the "progressives" who lost the election and do not speak for America.
  23. Another look at Canada's education system: The indoctrination of our children continues...
  24. You're the one who insisted that Peters was t telling the truth because the NY Post is owned by Rupert (Fox News) Murdoch. At least he is out on the streets, not sitting in the hotel bar all day. What about Bill Roggio? He's embedded with the troops and he hasn't seen indications of a civil war. Michael Totten has been doing an excellent job in Iraq. He has reported things like this--complete with pics: The hardest thing to see was the cell used to hold children before they were murdered. My translator Alan read some of the messages carved into the wall. “I was ten years old. But they changed my age to 18 for execution.” “Dear Mom and Dad. I am going to be executed by the Baath. I will not see you again.” 10,725 people were killed in this one building alone. All died during torture. Formal execution actually took place in Abu Ghraib. No signs of a civil war from him either. I think Rumsfeld said it best yesterday: You gotta love Rumsfeld! No straddling the fence with "nuance" from him. Much of the MSM is the enemy. The NY Times even leaked classified info to aid Al Qaeda and endanger the USA's security. Don't feel too bad BD. You weren't the only one who got duped.
