  1. Such assumptions! Anyway. I've called and made arrangements. you have your choice between Alabama and Austria. Which one do you want? You seem to hate civil rights enough..why don't you go to Alabama? Though in Austria, you'd get to be anti-immigrant. Make up your mind.
  2. I prefer to know how my MP will vote according to the national policy. So--I must ask: enhance democracy for who? The backbenchers? Or the people? I prefer the latter.
  3. Cons are just as bad. Moreover..they want a blank check from Canadians. They havn't had a policy convention yet, so I'm sure their true colours will show shortly.
  4. I find the Conservative attitude towards teachers and nurses disgusting to say the least. They study for 6-8 years to do what they do. They should have pay that is consumerate with their education.
  5. That's the problem when you agree with them though. You don't want to censor them, because you really agree, but at the same time, letting the electorate know what you'd really do (in the abscense of any party policy) is a huge nono. Martin is the only guy who has put forward even a notion of what kind of Canada he wants. The basis of Harper's arguement is: Vote for us, because the Liberals are corrupt. When pressed about his own vision for the country, he snarls, "The real issue are the liberals." So: you have to question, who is being negative in this campaign?
  6. You're referencing the Herald? Why don't you just reference Alberta Report?
  7. Yes. Closet Conservatives. Just as there are probably a ton of closet Liberals out there now. Just a hunch, based on what I know of the electorate. I could be very wrong. It might turn out that the undecideds just can't hold their nose anymore.
  8. The cons have the look of a deer caught in the headlights. It's the Conservative version of the groundhog. If a Conservative-Alliance MP lifts his head out of his hole and doesn't see Harper cleaning up a mess, he'll open his mouth and that means six more days of cleaning.
  9. I'm extremely familiar with DFO policy. And I'm extremely familiar with Ottawa bungling the fisheries. And failing to stand up to the Portuguese poachers. And the fact that industrialization all but halted in the Maritimes. And the tacit monopolization of the provinces by the Irvings and McCain's. The potatoe farmers, lumber yards, and workers of all kinds...the natural resource gatherers, have always been screwed over by the merchant. We in the Maritimes understand this, and we understand that alliance between corrupt Liberals AND corrupt Conservatives and these interests. That's why I say: it takes two to be corrupt in the Maritimes. So, Digby, I suggest you, as a senior member of the community, stand up and do something about it. You're not going to get the young elite of the counties to return until there's a pool of capital for us to use. And Capital is the gap in the Maritime economy.
  10. It takes two to be corrupt. An electorate that tolerates and expects it. A government that is desperate for support. I didn't hear the Bloc, or anybody else in quebec complaining when they were getting millions upon millions for the Montreal Grand Prix. (In fact, I heard the Bloc saying that MORE money should be given.) I still don't hear anybody from the maritimes complaining about the enhanced EI for seasonal workers in the maritimes. In fact, the Libs got a huge boost in the polls in the Maritimes after the changers were announced. That to me is a clear signal that Maritimers are pro-status-quo. There exists Maritimers and Quebeckers who are just as corrupt as the federal Liberals, and to suddenly turn on them and point at them takes a very high amount of chutzpah.
  11. I think we'd have to consult Edmonton first. The Premier's subcommittee for the distribution of predictive pools of the People's Republic of Alberta. Write to them. They'll get back to us after the election and let us know what's best for us.
  12. Sure. Let's go hog wild. Didn't Jazz give us Kenny G? Hell yah. Let's go for it.
  13. Uber. 89% of Canadians who belong to political parties feel that pollsters have too much power. Maybe it's time to get rid of the polls?
  14. Conrad Black was the king of Media Bias. Oh well. It won't be the media's fault if Harper loses. It'll be Harper's fault. Klein, White, and every other MP that has spoken their mind will also be to blame. You know, Canadians should be really mad at the old Alliance, because you don't see old PC's going out there and making blunders. It's no wonder that the West can never get in, especially with the gong show of a party they send.
  15. I don't even think face to face polling is accurate. There's more instinct to please in that case, not less.
  16. It's largely the utter, absolute failure of our Maritime elite that has forced all of the youth (that doesn't want an EI fate) to leave. It's time for people in Atlantic Canada to take some god damned responsiblity for their fate, stand up for themselves, and say, no -- EI ain't gonna do it anymore. It's driving down wages and it's putting off the inevitable. Enough with the patronage. Enough with the goddam Pork Barrelling. And you know the culture that I'm talking about. Maritimers are obsessed with blaming Ottawa for everything that has gone wrong, instead of working through their provincial governments to fix the problems. I've thrown away that blanket of victimization long ago. It's time to stand up, take some damned responsibility for your future, and get on it, regardless of what happens federally.
  17. I heard about Randy White from CTV. So what's the issue? The Liberals got the tape. They put it out there. It's the same thing the Cons did with the Martin tape. And I didn't read anybody here complaining about it. But I think that the Randy White tape is much more relevant, because it actually contains a policy position which is widely held by Conservative-Alliance. The fourth wheel is officially off: at the worse possible time.
  18. Or reply to CES surveys. True. Which is why I think matching polling districts and linking them with postal codes, and from there, to statscan data on income, age, gender..among other indicators, is a really great thing. A much more robust way of looking at factors. But yeh. Monday looks delicious. We got the Randy White factor working out there. Sounds good.
  19. Man. Randy White. Gotta love him. Leave it to a Conservative to find the right time to speak what's really on his mind and convince everybody who's moderate that these guys are jokers. What a gong show. What a complete, total, gong show. Ps. The Media didn't force Randy White to say those things...he said them himself.
  20. If there was no substance to Liberal 'fearmongering', then it would it not have been effective. (See: Newfoundland Liberal Party tactics, 2004. New Brunswick Liberal Party tactics, 1998. Ontario Conservative Party tactics, 1995-2003. Liberal Party of Canada tactics in Quebec, 2004. ) *ring* *ring* Hello? Hi, Mr. White? Yes, here's here. Argus, it's for you. It's Randy White. It seems that he agrees with you. Why? With company like that, how can you go wrong?
  21. If I had been wrong, one post would have been enough, Argus. I'm impressed that you know the word 'gaydar'. I didn't think knuckle draggers knew how to learn new words. I'm also wondering where you picked up that blanket of victimization. Do they have them on sail at Ikea? It seems like whenever things don't go your way, you wrap yourself up so tight in that blanket and blame everybody from Liberals to the Media. Oh well. You can stay wrapped up in that blanket. It suits you.
  22. Argus: You can have a banana too. Digby: Nice deflection. It takes two for policy to become reality. An electorate to demand it, and a government to provide it. When it comes to seasonal workers in Nova Scotia, both the Liberals, and the workers, are guilty of corruption. It's disgusting how little those workers put in, and how much they get, and they treat it as though it's owed to them.
