That's the Conservative way. It's not really grass roots politics. It's same old Gettymandered, arrogant rot we've come to expect from a tired, weary, conservative government.

Conservatives McGuintied by Klein
takeanumber replied to maplesyrup's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Not sure. But Klein is a bully. And he's arrogant. Worse than Chretien ever was. Conservatives don't often compare him to Chretien though, because that would be admitting fault with themselves. And you know, term limits in Alberta is a no-non topic. -

Martin vs. Harper - Good vs. Evil

He's in denial. Most Republican's are. From chucking feces at each other, to torture, to lying about intelligence, there is no low that the Bush Administration won't go. -
Best Political Comment of the Day
takeanumber replied to maplesyrup's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
An overwhelming majority of Canadians are small 'l' liberal. (Estimates put it at 85%. Even most Conservatives would be considered 'l'iberals down in the states. 'liberal' isn't a dirty word in Canada. We don't need that Republican stigma imported up here. -
Martin vs. Harper - Good vs. Evil

Because they expected to be welcomed. That hasn't happened. The oil hasn't flowed. (If anything, it's been delayed.) So the answer is: Typcial Republican Incompetance. -

Martin vs. Harper - Good vs. Evil

No Stoker. The war was about cheaper gas. (It's become clear now that's what it is what about, since they were lying the whole time about the WMD) But it just goes to show how much of a failure the Bush Administration really is. -
It's my opinion that enough is enough. We don't have live through it over and over again. It's just like, any excuse, any tiniest bit of information: and they do a 15 minute story on it. It's not good journalism. There ARE more important developments in the world. And the whole 'don't like it, don't watch' thing doesn't apply. Especially when the CBC does the same thing. The BBC only spent 3 minutes, which was good. But still. Enough is enough.

Martin vs. Harper - Good vs. Evil
takeanumber replied to jacqueline944's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Canadians have been fighting the real war on terror in Afghanistan while the US has been out waging war for cheap gas in Iraq. Very pathetic. And for Harper to turn around and deny the fact that the Alliance and most of the current Conservative caucus wanted to go to war in Iraq, is just typical. Say one thing. Do another. -
Cons accuse NDP/Lib of Child Pornography
takeanumber replied to maplesyrup's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I'm against Kiddie Porn too, just like I'm for anti-Hate legislation, even if it is just writing. It's hatred against Children. It does them harm. (See the recent case where Child Porn influenced a guy to do the real thing.) It's a social 'bad'. And I'm all for banning it. I can't handle that level of entropy in society. It's hate speech against Children. (Literally, in the most grutesque form), and I just can't handle that. And I know I'm an anti-liberal for being anti-Free Speech when it comes to Hatred. But that's a contradiction I can live with. I'd like to see Argus or AF resolve the contradictions in their positions though. They're against C-250 and hate crime legislation. It harms their freedom of expression. Their freedom of speech. But they're all anti-free speech on this subject. Anyway. It's contradictory. -

Me too. Duceppe is the cleanest of the bunch. At least with Duceppe, you know where he stands. Can't say the same with the others. -
Martin vs. Harper - Good vs. Evil

Klein is screwing things up for Harper. (haha). Klein is running around saying that he's going to privatize healthcare once Harper wins. Lovely. Martin refused to do anything when Klein first started doing it. Meh. If you love Klein. You'll love Harper. -
I'm sick of the provinces pleading fiscal inbalance. They took all the money Ottawa gave them and used it for tax cuts. It's time for the Provinces to start spending our money wisely, and not for pork. (Ie. Alberta giving money to meat packers. Pure pork barrelling). Child Daycare should be a local issue, out of the grips of provincial mismanagement.

It just feels as though whenever ratings dip, they gotta bring back 9-11. Nothing new was revealed today. Just bits of tape. And they tell us what we already know about the time line. Is anybody else here sick of the media doing this to us?

Whose to hold PM Harper's feet to the fire?
takeanumber replied to maplesyrup's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Harper is shcrewed, but hasn't mastered 300 level political calculus. All signs point to chaos. Canadian political culture is no conducive to minority governments. But meh. If Duceppe can keep Harper from screwing with same sex marriage (a provincial responsibility), and prevent Harper's grubby paws off a woman's right to choose, it would be all in good fun. A fun few months in parliament. Alright, I'll push back my estimate. October 28. Layton can lay a few landmines. The Liberals can too.
