  1. The topic of this thread is a lie. No one has denied Israel's right to exist and this is a simple case of McCarthyism by those who fear someone who legitimately criticizes Israel and will use any desperate attempt to jump at the person's throat. I'm still waiting for Dancer's thread about Kenney who attended and spoke at a rally, set up by a terrorist organization.
  2. Who makes Canada’s Mid-East policy? A ranking of influence by a panel of foreign affairs officials placed the Canadian Jewish Community first at 5.85 compared to 5.40 for each of the Prime Minister and the Department of External Affairs. The Canadian/Arab Community at 1.80 was ranked sixteenth out of the eighteen estimated influence inputs.
  3. Is this a conspiracy to you? Almost half of Canadian newspapers and the popular television network, Global, were owned by the Asper family. The late Israel (Izzy) Asper, billionaire founder of the CanWest media empire, was a prominent leader of the Lobby. Although not a practising Jew, he travelled frequently to Israel, became a friend of its leaders and supported its policies. Israel, Asper once told a Toronto audience, “was an isolated island of democracy… in a sea of terrorism, corruption, dictatorship and human enslavement. Palestinian leaders … in their deadly campaign to destroy Israel … are aiming their bombs at innocent civilians or blowing up planes over Lockerbie…” (26) Given such views, it is not surprising that the Asper employed his media to urge Canadians to treat Arab leaders as “gangster terrorists”, and disciplined the editors and journalists of his papers who strayed far from his beliefs.
  4. The reaction to Libby Davies' recent comment, the removal of funding by Harper from Kairos for supporting divestment of Israel. Of course, there is “The Canadian Parliamentary Committee to Combat Anti-semitism”, the members of which are claiming that criticizing Israel is a “new form” of anti-semitism. Dylan Penner, founding member of Independent Jewish Voices, believes that the ultimate objective of this Parliamentary Committee is “to introduce legislation that would make it a crime to criticize Israel”. What do you call this? A conspiracy (as Dancer likes to call it) or a strong influence by Israeli lobbies in Canada? Lets look a case study done by Professor lyon on Canada's Israel Lobby: This article is an update of a study of the Canada Israel Committee (CIC) published in the Journal of Canadian Studies, 1992-3. It benefited by extensive comments from Professors John Sigler, Joseph Debanné, David Farr and Diana Ralph, and Rt. Hon Robert Stanfield, Ian Watson, and Bahija Reghai. I have discussed the Israel Lobby with about 20 foreign affairs officials, 2 former Prime Ministers, 3 former Secretaries of State for External Affairs, 8 Members of Parliament, 6 Senators, and 3 officials of the Canada-Israel Committee. --- Here is one noteworthy bit from the article. Canada’s extraordinarily strong support of Israel is partially explained by the editorial bias of its media, which face intense pressure to conform. Israel, More will follow.
  5. She responded. But he wasn't by Harper who has now compared Libby Davies to terrorist groups. I am curious if you made a thread about Kenney attending a rally with the terrorist organization.
  6. Excellent post and I appreciate your comments.
  7. This will be a good test for the NDP to see whether or not they will give into the powerful Jewish/Israeli lobby like the Conservatives and Liberals have.
  8. Really. Isn't this a bit of an overreaction? Ms. Davies is a huge advocate of human rights and international law. Her record speaks for itself. She has already said that she made an error when the person asked her to pick between the two dates. Seriously, Harper has compared Libby Davies to terrorist groups. You people support this type of politics? Here is Ms. Davies' response to Ottawa Citizen: June 11, 2010 Dear Editor, I am writing in response to your June 11 editorial which refers to a video of me recorded last Saturday, and posted online (Hater's, Ottawa Citizen, June 11, 2010). My reference to the year 1948 as the beginning of the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territory was a serious and completely inadvertent error; I apologize for this and regret any confusion it has caused. I have always supported a two-state solution to the on-going Israeli-Palestinian conflict and have never questioned Israel's right to exist and the Palestinian’s right to a viable state. New Democrats have long called for a peaceful, negotiated end to the conflict where Israelis and Palestinians can live side by side with secure borders. This is a policy I fully support. I reject the allegation that I hate Israel, and I reject the assertion that I said that Israel is illegitimate or an abomination. Neither are true. Libby Davies MP Vancouver East
  9. I don't despise Israel. I despise their policies and treatment of the Palestinians. I'm also not a fan of violations of international law.
  10. What's all the outrage though? She should lose her job and her career because she made a mistake between 48 and 67? Did anything happen to Minister Kenney when he participated at a terrorist organization's rally? Isn't that a far worse act than making a mistake between two numbers?
  11. She denies Israel's right to exist because she said they've been occupying Palestinians since 48, instead of 67? Did I miss something?
  12. Dancer is the Mark Regev of Mapleleafweb.
  13. YNet White phosphorus can be used in land-to-land or sea-to-land shells, which the IDF says are only fired as smoke-screens towards non-populated areas. Phosphorus can also be stored in missiles, which release flakes of the burning substance upon impact. The flakes remain hot up to 24 hours after impact. The Goldstone report says phosphorus was used in attacks on an UNRWA structure as well as two hospitals in Gaza. The report says a phosphorus shell also hit the home of the Abu-Halima family in al-Atatra. Image of "the most moral army in the world" using white phosphorus, legally. Dancer keeps stumping me.
  14. You've already asked me about my interest in the region, in a thread and by sending me a private message. I answered both.
  15. And Bob pulls out the most desperate card of all.
  16. Hey Dancer. Do you ever take notes from Mark Regev? Many of your comments sound exactly like his. Was it you who said that no phosphorous was used, and then once the overwhelming evidence came in, including photos and videos, you changed your stance and say that 'okay, it was used, but it was used legally', and then didn't say anything once it was revealed that it was used illegally? Or was that another Mark Regev clone on this forum?
  17. Regev was once seen slipping and telling the truth. Even though he has consistently said otherwise, in this interview, Regev admits that Hamas fired NO rockets during the ceasefire. Not until Israel broke the ceasefire and killed 6 Hamas members:
  18. Regev trying to defend Israel's UN school bombing.
  19. Iraqi Information Minister Channel 4 seems to hold this person accountable. Look at him squirm and try to weasel his way out of it:
  20. Does this man ever say anything truthful?
  21. So conclusion so far: - The PLO recognized Israel and international law over 20 years ago. - Hamas has called for a long term truce and has said it is willing to accept resolution 242, if Israel does as well - Israel continues to reject resolution 242 and international law Who wants peace?
  22. Here is the Hamas PM in an interview with Haaretz, where he talks about the 1967 border.
  23. No kidding that it was not implemented. Of course Israel has not recognized resolution 242, which is international law. All this talk about others not accepting the state of Israel, which is a condition of 242 and other resolutions following it, when Israel does not even recognize the resolution and international law.
  24. Here is something else you should familiarize yourself with, which I hope will prevent you from posting misinformation in the future: Jewish Virtual Library September 9, 1993 Yitzhak Rabin Prime Minister of Israel Mr. Prime Minister, The signing of the Declaration of Principles marks a new era in the history of the Middle East. In firm conviction thereof, I would like to confirm the following PLO commitments: The PLO recognizes the right of the State of Israel to exist in peace and security. The PLO accepts United Nations Security Council Resolutions 242 and 338. The PLO commits itself to the Middle East peace process, and to a peaceful resolution of the conflict between the two sides and declares that all outstanding issues relating to permanent status will be resolved through negotiations. The PLO considers that the signing of the Declaration of Principles constitutes a historic event, inaugurating a new epoch of peaceful coexistence, free from violence and all other acts which endanger peace and stability. Accordingly, the PLO renounces the use of terrorism and other acts of violence and will assume responsibility over all PLO elements and personnel in order to assure their compliance, prevent violations and discipline violators In view of the promise of a new era and the signing of the Declaration of Principles and based on Palestinian acceptance of Security Council Resolutions 242 and 338, the PLO affirms that those articles of the Palestinian Covenant which deny Israel's right to exist, and the provisions of the Covenant which are inconsistent with the commitments of this letter are now inoperative and no longer valid. Consequently, the PLO undertakes to submit to the Palestinian National Council for formal approval the necessary changes in regard to the Palestinian Covenant. Sincerely, Yasser Arafat Chairman The Palestine Liberation Organization
