Oligarchy is simply rule by the few. Democracy is rule by the citizenry. Since the few rules over the citizenry this isn't democracy, but oligarchy.

Syria wasn't third world until NATO backed it's demise.

Canada and the 14B weapons deal to Saudi Arabia

If it's us against them why are you arming Islamic theocracies again? -
No I supported backing the Kurds to fight ISIS, just not the over the top Us vs Them rhetoric that's what causes the sort of blowback we've seen. "The US began Lend-Lease to the British Empire and the Soviet Union early in 1941, and in fact Roosevelt was offering what help he could to Britain until Pearl Harbour." Lend-Lease were loans. The US was making a profit on it. It wasn't like it was totally magnanimous in fact it bankrupted the British Empire after the war.

I'm sure the other single celled organisms must have been horrified back then.

"I know what you're saying but I just think that ship set sail at least a couple of decades ago." Centuries ago. The only hope is to try to stop the process. " I'll bet most advanced species live on planets that are dust-bowls. I'll allow that a sense of appreciation for what one has can lead to enlightenment but I just think in our case our strongest sense of appreciation is almost always after the fact for things we've lost." Agreed. Says something about our species doesn't it? We can't value it until we've destroyed it.
-
If you're pro-Earthling then you must stop humans from overwhelming the planet. We are creating a dust bowl and it's going to be hell. It already is in much of the world where it is an overpopulated polluted nightmare. The wonderful thing about Canada is that it isn't that yet, but is heading that way.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Humans are the worst possible thing for the environment. You aren't being anti-corporate you are helping the corporate agenda.

Yes I agree there is too much American in Canadian politics. Help improve the situation by not posting.

Importing foreign posters (and campaign advisors) in Canadian electioneering demonstrates desperation by the far right.

Democratic elections are hypothetical if they are fixed then it's a dictatorship. Ask any Egyptian what that's like. The Greens have a very good chance of picking up another seat in my riding. The by election came to within 1000 votes and we just elected the first Provincial Green MLA. I didn't even believe that the Greens were actually going to have an MLA elected here in that one. I casted my vote and the hypothetical became a reality all of a sudden.

You'd think I was born yesterday. Unlike many voters I don't have the memory of a goldfish and am well informed. If you haven't watched the Neoconservative's actions over the last 15s year you've had your head in the sand.

While my general outlook is left I differ with much of the left on this.

I will answer that. I have traveled extensively through the Middle East and am appalled at the large family sizes and unsustainability of the population growth in those countries.

The Neoconservatives advance the interests of the MIC, Israel, oil companies, Word Bank/IMF with military force, weapons sales, covert actions etc.

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/harper-defending-military-deal-with-saudi-arabia/article26550145/ Harper's latest neoconservative action: selling 15 billion dollars of military equipment to a brutal Islamic Theocracy.

Advancing the neoconservative imperial agenda isn't defending America. Do you remember what happened in World War 2 when Canada was at war with Germany? The US didn't even come to our aid then. It was only until Germany actually declared war on them that they entered the war against Germany.

If it is the few, which are elected by a minority of voters which are running the country then it's an oligarchy. Who said an oligarchy can't be replaced?
-
Oligarchy = Rule by the Few. It's pretty obvious.
-
So we should just become puppets to the American neoconservatives so that they can save us from the Russians if need be. If we are already enslaved to the foreign policy of a country to protect us from another then we have already given up our sovereignty in the process.

No it isn't. Polls have shown that the majority disapprove of the minority which runs the country so it is an oligarchy.
