https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Single_Convention_on_Narcotic_Drugs#List_of_controlled_narcotic_drugs https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Convention_on_Psychotropic_Substances (He could get around this technicality: Cannabis is defined in this treaty by the UN as a narcotic, but cannabis isn't a narcotic.)

Hey Trudeau why don't you ask the Dutch, Uruguay, Portugal, Spain, Czech Republic and others how it's done? Or was this one of the carrots your handlers down south offered you? http://news.nationalpost.com/news/canada/is-justin-trudeau-getting-the-coveted-opening-address-at-davos-at-the-world-economic-forum Squid I'm not speculating on anything that was the article and Trudeau. There is some UN anti drug treaty if I remember correctly that was pushed forth by Nelson Rockefeller (Nixon's vp) which includes cannabis as an internationally banned substance. I think it's that that he's referring to. Well lots of countries haven't fallen for such bullying. This already shows the fiber and trustworthiness of Trudeau.

http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/trudeau-legalizing-pot-global-treaties-1.3390745 How predictable. Wasn't it obvious that this was coming? Big brother America told Trudeau he wasn't allowed to do anything they didn't want him to do. National sovereignty? It doesn't exist. So I guess we are all Americans now right Trudeau?

"It was a necessary sacrifice to appease the Chinese at a time we needed foreign investment in Canada. Had we refused they would have taken umbrage and there would have been economic sanctions." Surrendering to Chinese govt bullying. Yeah really impressive.

Harper signed off on it. If he hadn't it couldn't have been sold.

I think the logic should be pretty obvious, if it's not OK to do to adults (unless consented). It's not OK to do to minors. The law is there to protect Canadian citizens, that includes minors as well as adults. It's ironic that the same people whining about hijabs here will consent to beating kids.

Skeptical about Trudeau's commitment to climate change.

Argus I wasn't referring to the Canadian government. I was referring to the right wingers in the States. -

"If it's one thing the Left has in abundance, it's the courage to spend other people's money and sacrifice other people's livelihood on behalf of their ideological aims." Hello, The Neocons spent 1 billion dollars a day in Iraq. The left has spent 2.5 billion on climate change 2 and a half days in Iraq. Not even comparable. -

"I've asked this before. If we are responsible for China's CO2 emissions when they burn our coal or oil, does that mean someone else is responsible when we burn imported oil?" Both parties are responsible in all instances. If there's one thing the right can't stand it's responsibility and courage to do the right thing. -

Good point. Alot of complaining about China burning coal and none about Canada exporting coal to China! -

China actually just burned less coal than the previous year a first time that's ever happened. -

China is actually making far greater strides towards the development, and production of clean renewable energy than Canada. -

It's called leading by example. You are setting the model for places like India and China to follow. The claim that the tar sands will make no difference on the climate is false. -

There's a whole book of horrifying numbers about the Tar Sands: http://www.amazon.ca/Tar-Sands-Dirty-Future-Continent/dp/1553655559 -

Everyone knows the tar sands are worse per capita by far than extracting regular oil. -

Per capita the tar sands is a much worse polluter than other sources of oil. -

The tar sands have only begun to be exploited. It's when they are fully exploited that we will see these numbers sky-rocket. -

Denial is a river in Egypt. What do you really think your grand kids are going to think of you? "What kind of renewable energy do you feel could replace oil and natural gas?" All of them. -

G Huxley replied to G Huxley's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
No I disagree with you 100%. Scientists should never be muzzled. Global Warming is a reality. Trudeau needs to take action, only he should do it by stopping the tar sands and moving to renewable energy at home instead of filling bank accounts abroad and providing deals to Quebec and Montreal companies to do so. -
Why not just use the word troglodyte instead?
