Glad to have you here Roger! Great post. I believe the liberal party is paving the way clearly for Justin Trudeau. I think the party knows full well that if they put him on the pedestal right away, they will lose a major future leader. So I think the party really doesn't mind much right now. I think just like how the Republican establishment gave John McCain one of the "good ol' boys" in 2008 a shot similar to Bob Dole, the Liberals are giving their ol' boys a shot. Ultimately, I think going forward, seeing how the conservative support among immigrants is going up as we speak, maybe in the next 10 years we might see some massive gains in Toronto among Cons which will create a position where NDP will merge with the Libs. Until then, Layton will ensure he milks as much of the Quebec and left's support as he can.

Then, you have G&M etc. slightly maintaining a positive side towards Dhalla (innocent until proven guilty mantra) Something doesn't add up. Then the economic crisis and him not knowing a thing about what the heck to do. Hence, the Republicans lost in both 2006 and 2008 in house and senate seats. I bet you conservatives love the fact that Bush introduced the most socialist plan in American history - the $800 Billion bailout. That goes against every conservative principle in history. Yet you go rant against a guy who's just in. This is the idiocy of the ultra-right wing. They think they are going against the grain and being heroic in the process but know very will that when they express that idea in the mainstream audience, they will not be able to defend it. So they talk and vent in forums. This is exactly what Limbaugh makes money from, that 14% of the base that cannot accept the fact that a black man became the President. It's just that the immigration system is messed up. The government and immigration council brings in people by showcasing artificial statistics and "demand" that just isn't there to these immigrants. Simple, they already spent all their life savings to come here and exhausted all of it. If they go back, they will have to start all over again from scratch (in their mid-late 40's) and their kids will have to suffer. That's the only reason why they are doing that. Sooner rather than later it will be the other way. These same folks are readily hired in the US. Why aren't they going there? Obviously because they got conned into the "permanent residency" scheme here while they have to work in the US for quite a while to get the 'green card' which is equivalent to our permanent residency.
