Why not? I mean, ordinary women. Average, sexual women. These women were killed by the thousands, between the 14th and 18th century. In doing so, the church demonstrates its contempt for women throughout history. And I do not doubt that this contempt still exist, out of fear that such women can lead men away from god. As in, the original sin. But is that not also quite a common viewpoint in some other religions, as well.

Liberals talk Gutting health care
Sir Bandelot replied to punked's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Liberals are doing everything exactly right, to assure that they will never be elected. Ignatieff will never be PM (thank you god) and will eventually have to be replaced. Indeed, the Liberal party has died, but no one noticed yet. The only way for them to continue, is for a new Liberal party to be incarnated. But the bloated fatcats who make all the decisions behind the scenes, have not died yet. Let them be force-fed on vichyssoise -
Royal Family visits Canadian troops in Afghanistan
Sir Bandelot replied to g_bambino's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It shows that most Canadians do not care about the Royals. They are irrelevant to the average Canadian. The pomp and circumstance that is royalty holds no appeal. But feel free to genuflect before their majestic grace, if it works for you. No one will complain. -
Alright, fine. No more veils at christian white weddings. Also, the nuns are creepin me out too. That's getting close to a veil.

Is this thread not dead yet? Achh, and I forgot me boots... Look, she spoke in London, a bunch of hecklers shut her down in Ottawa, and she subsequently spoke in Calgary. No big deal. No government stepped in and said, she's not allowed in Canada. So now you can all relax your sphincters, and lets move on...

What is Wrong with this Headline?

It became an American ship at the moment the US took it into custody -
yes but we are different than you, because we are decent and moral.

Free Speech in Canada, a myth?
Sir Bandelot replied to Mr.Canada's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The government does not dictate laws entirely on it's own, such as those that supress certain kinds of speech. They also respond to external organizations such as the Canadian Jewish Congress That is how many laws are made in this country, not dictated by the government per se, but in response to influential lobbyists. http://www.cjc.ca/hate-speech/ -
The American People voted for Socialism.
Sir Bandelot replied to Pliny's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Also attempts at regulation of bank financial activities (to prevent more toxic loans), and attempts at capping the bonuses given to financial (and automotive) CEO's. Whether successful, or not. -
What is Wrong with this Headline?
Sir Bandelot replied to M.Dancer's topic in Media and Broadcasting
Ok, I'll play along. I looked it up on my favorite resource, and the ship was built by the US, was owned by a Spanish slave trader, and was the scene of a rebeliion in which the slaves took control of the boat. On July 2, 1839... the captives freed themselves. They were successful in gaining control of the ship and demanded to be returned home. The ship's navigator, Don Pedro Montez, deceived them about which direction their course was on and sailed the ship north along the North American coast to the eastern tip of Long Island, New York. The United States Revenue Cutter Service discovered the schooner and took it and its occupants into custody. They took the Africans to Connecticut to be sold as slaves. So what part of this little story is bothering you, oh linguistically sensitive one. -

Well I guess that's you then. 700 billion dollar bailouts could prove you wrong... -

But they are moving in that direction... moderate socialism. "Socialism, in the hands of a wise man, is medicine. In the hands of a fool, poison." - Sir Bandelot -
Free Speech in Canada, a myth?
Sir Bandelot replied to Mr.Canada's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
He's old. -
But we are just talking about speaking now, right? Not dropping bombs or anything like that. Ahmadinejad was only speaking.
-
I'll tell you what though, there IS a difference. Despite the protests in Ottawa, nobody in Canada is calling for the U of WO to be boycotted for allowing her to speak. And they won't if she does talk in Calgary. Nobody in Canadian politics, or the media. That's the difference. So despite this tempest in a teapot, we are more tolerant here.
-
What difference. She got to speak at the U of Western Ontario, right? And apparently she will get to speak in Calgary. Right? Unless the good and decent people of Alberta come out to protest... and send her packing. But naaa. Hell they even let GWB speak there, without arresting him. A haven for war criminals, ex-nazis and racists.
-
And the fallout for letting his speak in '07 was tremendous. nation wide rallies, sponsors dropped, boycott Coumbia University. Same difference?

Free speech exists in America? My eye. Ahmadinejad
-
Oh and this here forum, does not allow free speech either. Read the rules, knuckleheads! Without it, this place would become a complete idiots crapfest. I mean, you know, even beyond...

I mentioned she's like a comedian, that's the only way to consider her in my opinion. Entertainer, as a stretch but I'm not entertained by people like her, Chris Rock etc. Y'all get your giggles about don Rickles or Archie Bunker, I know. But how about the guy from Seinfeld, who was doing stand up comedy and used the "N" word. That didn't go over well for him, far as I recall. There is no absolute free speech, that is sheer fantasy. Time and again people have faced trial, gone to jail or been extradited merely for what they write or say. And it doesn't matter how much you get your nickers in a bunch over it, that's the way it is and the way is should be. Simpering liberals, be damned.
-
So what, I'm not here to do that. Although, I know it irks you so. I don't consider you a true conservative, by any measure. Right wing perhaps, but not a true conservative.
-
I guess you would know what everyone else here thinks about me. Not like I give a shit anyway. Liberals want to force free speech down our throats, and tha's you, booby
