Isn't it time to slow down immigration?
Hcheh replied to Mr.Canada's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
"I remember waiting to be wakened on a school day – when it snowed – watching each minute tick by and hoping against hope nobody came in – which meant it was a snow day!" LOL!! This post speaks the truth.. Seriously, great post.. Gotta love Canada. Unfortunately however, maybe we are losing the overly polite and clean attitude.. but maybe and hopefully, that is just how it is in Toronto. -
Isn't it time to slow down immigration?

I agree, "Canadian culture" should not be by British decent. It is an accumulation of various western and, in some parts of the country, native cultures. We are totally autonomous, politically, economically (well, it is hard to say that anybody is really..but you get it), and even socially. We are the Canadians, not the British. Ultimately, we value democracy, values of the Commonwealth (Harare principles) and Constitutional rights. When it comes to running a country, these ideals should be above all, above Islamic beliefs, Christian beliefs, Jewish beliefs.. or whatever. Of course, you can have complete freedom regarding what you want to believe in, that is the beauty of a westernized democratic and constitutional country. After all, the relationship between a man and his God lies within his own responsibility, let's keep it that way. -

Missing those things is just a result of universal social hegemony, nothing to do with what has happened to Canada. Try to find a country now that is like what you described haha get with the times j/ks lol -

Mercy is for the weak...sure.. That is how the Al-Qaeda thinks.. I guess you guys agree with each other on somethings eh? And here I was thinking that we were more "socially advanced" than the Al-Qaeda. -
Obama wants to Redistribute Wealth
Hcheh replied to Mr.Canada's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Yeah. Also, true free market capitalism inevitably leads to an oligarchy. If you don't have a problem with Canada, I don't see why you could have a lot of problems with Obama's policies By the way, the point still stands.. If you are criticizing Obama's policies for being too socialist, what do you call that 800 billion dollar bail out?? -
Like: Data Analyst Data Exploitation Analyst Risk Management Analyst Information Management, IT Corporate Storage Analyst Senior Corporate Officer, Policy and Liaison, Scientific and Technical Services And so forth. They are all the bureaucratic positions.

Well, I'm not sure if it was HR. But there are positions within the CSIS that doesn't require you to know french. Oh yeah, did you hear about that story with the girl who got reimbursed for her education fees? Studying while working..

$30 million spent to protect PM since 2006: documents

But it is related, the leader with the most seats in the house becomes Prime Minister (very very very very very usually). -
Obama wants to Redistribute Wealth
Hcheh replied to Mr.Canada's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Yeah sure, Obama's tax plans are sooo socialist. Tax breaks to the poor, spreading the wealth around for the middle class.. Then I guess giving tax breaks to everybody in the higher classes and spreading wealth (800 billion bailout) around to the banks is much different. Actually, they weren't spreading wealth around to the banks, they were MAKING wealth.. out of thin air. Leaning to the left or not, someone needs to come in and save the American citizens, things are in pretty bad shape right now. -

1) TECHNICALLY. But not practically, just like the Queen's powers. The one with the most seats in the house will 99.9% become the Prime Minister. So, in that sense, the P.M. IS elected. At any rate, "The PM is not an elected post, it is an appointed one." was a pretty anal statement considering that we all accept the fact that conventionally, the P.M. has to run a campaign, win votes and then takes office. Anyway, would you want George W. Bush to take office, just because he was "elected"? 100% Guaranteed elected office is not always a good thing, especially when the situation could be so easily corrupted. \ 2) Dude, we're just havin' a debate.. Who are you calling a "traitor to Canadian law"? haha -

Maybe you could say that unions have socialist or communist leaning ideals, but I really don't think you could say that a union actually equals communism. Communism is quite an extreme political ideology. -

Not saying that Harper is, but I wouldn't take a bullet for a terrible P.M. Why take a bullet for someone failing your country? Unless of course, you have no problem taking a bullet for anyone. Anyhow, I agree that the P.M. position generally needs good security. Maybe 30 million is quite a lot though.. Whoever was talking about the P.M. buying a gun is pretty ridiculous. I don't think anyone would like the idea of the Prime Minister shooting anybody up -

Being "left wing" does not imply a certain party. It just means you are geared towards a certain set of political ideals. You can be leaning left and have disagreements with the NDP party. Political beliefs go beyond partisanship. -
Anti Terrorism Laws.......Thank You Mr Harper!
Hcheh replied to wulf42's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
that is wayy too hypothetical. I am just going to take that as an exaggeration. Anyhow , at least we don't have shit like the patriot act. There is a fine line between investigation and an invasion of privacy/rights. An average citizen would be at no fault if he/she felt uneasy about an invasion of rights. -
