McCain insists 9/11 perpetrators came from Canada
lukin replied to jdobbin's topic in Canada / United States Relations
There wasn't nearly the amount of sarcasm or ignorance on this forum when Democrat Napolitano made her remarks. Only when McCain made his comments did people like you react. As a Conservative, McCain's comments, along with Napolitano's are ridiculous, and I'll admit it. It's just too bad that all of you in far left wonderland can't call a spade a spade, and rely on cheap, petty put downs of Conservatives. Why on Earth does Sarah Palin's name need to be brought up in this discussion? Because the far-left are nothing but haters, which I learned a long time ago when I subscribed to the far-left ideology. Thank goodness I gre out of that phase. -
McCain insists 9/11 perpetrators came from Canada

I disagree with all that McCain has said about this subject. My problem is the fact that ONLY McCain is getting bashed for his comments, even though he is only echoing what OBAMA appointee Janet Napolitano stated earlier. Now this story has transformed into bash-the-Republicans some more. That is the problem I have with the news. Blatant partisanship. -
Michael Ignatieff around President Obama reminded me of teenage girls around the Beatles. Now he's going to have his picture with the President shown in Times Square. This is a great use of Liberal money. I'm sure the Americans will be impressed when they see their President in a picture with some guy who thinks he's more important than he actually is. When Iggy became leader of the LPC, I thought he would be very good. He's really disappointing me. First he tells Obama that Canadians are "concerned" about Omar Khadr. Then he tells Obama that he has a hard time working with the government of his own country. I guess Iggy wants to be the terrorist friendly leader. I once thought I might vote for him, but not after his sit-down with President Obama. Dion may actually be better than Iggy. http://www.niagarafallsreview.ca/ArticleDi....aspx?e=1445592

Inner-circle exodus spells trouble for Tories

So you think the public education system is doing an excellent job of educating kids? -

You should be asking Progressive Tory for his opinion on this subject. It was Progressive Tory who said "Private schools create a false sense of what is acceptable, and do not prepare children for the real world." -

When I see 9 year olds swear in front of their parents, and their parents react like nothing is wrong....this shows me that our country is going downhill. Private schools actually EDUCATE kids. Public schools try to manipulate kids. -

But you have to admit, that all of what you think is impossible would make the world a better place. Canada's social values are at an all-time low, thanks to far left wing influence. The far left wants children raised by public schools, not by parents. You need to learn to read between the lines PT. I feel you are being bamboozled. -

What's so bad about family life, PT? -
Any talk of world government will get you labelled a conspiracy loon. However, there are organizations promoting it. check out this website and share your thoughts. http://www.voteworldgovernment.org/

You are sure quite sour bcviking. That's too bad. A bitter lefty always makes me laugh. FYI, Jean Chretien NEVER won a majority government with over 50% of the polular vote. That means he had a minority of canadians supporting him. I didn't hear too much whining about that. BCViking you are nothing more than a bitter little sore loser. The truth is that more people in canada voted Conservative than any other single party. If the Greens, Liberals, NDP, and BQ are all the same then they better run under the same umbrella next election so that we don't have to listen to this constant whining from sucks like you. Have a nice day!

Not when you consider all the hype Obama had, nevermind the 80% support he had from the MSM.
-
You nailed it eyeball. People with very little political aptitude will get behind anything that seems popular. That is what Trudeau will be banking on in 8 years. The "Time for Change" philosophy.
-
What surprises me about the US election results is that Obama only received 53% of the popular vote. Why am I surprised? 1. With the MSM clearly favouring Obama, 53% is a low number. 2. McCain was a sacrificial lamb for the GOP. He had no chance from the get go. 3. McCain ran a terrible campaign. 4. With al of Obama's charisma, I predicted he would have received around 62% of the vote. 5. After GWB's disastous presidency, all momentum was in the Democrat's favour. The United States is a nation divided. I hope Obama does well. They only thing that scares me about Obama will be if he appoints FAR-Left judges to the Supreme court.

Is this guy really the "messiah" of the new Liberal generation. I keep hearing that he will return the Liberals to the glory days. I've seen or heard nothing from him that reveals a knowledgeable politician. Yes, he is Pierre's son. Is that reason enough for the hype? I just think there are too many Canadians looking for an Obama type Liberal candidate to rally behind without any real substance. This is part of the reason I've been turned off of the LPC in the last 10 years.

They didn't want anyone to see the video because it was of such poor quality. They were protecting Dion because his little camera phone speech showed how disorganized he is. The video hurts Dion's credibility. That's why it wasn't being shown on CBC while the other three were. Work on your comprehension skills before trying to put me in my place. Do you understand max? The fewer people that saw Dion's video, the better it is for Dion. CBC helped him out.
-
I was on the CBC website a minute a go. I wanted to watch videos of the speeches by the leaders that were on TV earlier this evening. Harper's worked fine. Duceppe's worked fine. For some reason Dion's camera phone speech wouldn't work. Was this the result of a technical difficulty or was it not working on purpose. I am so sick of the tax funded CBC being the media arm of the Liberals. This was formerly the Opening Post of a thread entitled CBC Bias? It has been merged into this previous post on the same topic.

I think Ignatieff is more Conservative than what we know.
-
Let me ask this. Who would Ignatieff agree more with: Stephen Harper or Jack Layton? Maybe being cozy with the socialist democrats doesn't sit well with Ignatieff.
-
Has anyone else heard the rumour that Stephen Harper and Michael Ignatieff will be meeting behind closed doors before Monday? I have a friend who is very involved in his poli sci. classes at university who told me this. He couldn't give me any real substance as to why this might happen, he just had a very smug grin on his face. It's probably just a useless rumour. I did find it interesting though, and thought I'd share it. Personally, I can't see it happening.

After all the discussion on here about public education, I went to my local Chapters and picked up a book titled " The Feel-Good Curriculum: The Dumbing Down of America's Kids in the Name of Self-Esteem " by Maureen Stout. I reccommend this book to ALL people (liberal+conservative) who are concerned about public education. It has been an eye-opener for me. try to get your hands on this book any way possible.

Very true blueblood, but unfortunately, very imossible. You wouldn't believe how many teens get pregnant just because they know they'll get a government cheque. Too many parents who have kids who do no wrong. it sickens me.
-
This is going to sound way out there, but I've been told that Sheila Copps still holds plenty of power in the Liberal Party, and that she will make a strong run in the leadership campaign.
-
I have no idea what you just tried to say. Your post offers very little to our debate.
-
There are serious issues about public education. The strap is NEVER coming back. What can be done to help public schools? Anyone with any sensible ideas?
-
No problem smallc. I think we are both concerned about education. I wanted to hear from other people whether I'm being unreasonable. How do you see things changing for the "better" in the near future smallc?
