Open warfare in South Ossetia
PoliticalCitizen replied to moderateamericain's topic in The Rest of the World
I agree that the crimes were commited by the Communist Party of USSR. The Communist Party had members from almost all nationalities and etnic groups. So why is Ukraine blaming Russia and not Ukrainian Communists? Don't you see a problem with that? The crime against Poland is very different - it is invasion, treason and murder commited by one country against the other. The only aspect here as well is that it was done by the Soviet Union, not just the Federate Republic of Russia. Soviet Union is now defunct. -

And how do you feel about US Government possibly lying (in the best case scenario - not orchestrating) about the tragedy that was later used as a pretext to attack countries on the other end of the globe? -

See Saakashvili eat his tie on BBC: Hmmmm... At least he proves he's human, has a conscience and feels guilty... -

If Russia would play by the same dirty rules (and I'm sure they could if they had more money) as US then they would: Create an alliance with Cuba, Iran, North Corea, Venezuela and any other US-hating countries and build military bases there; Threaten any country that is against their world policy with cutting them off oil supply; Sponsor "peaceful revolutions" in countries that are US allies; Seek splitting the US into separate states that hate each other Nice picture, huh?

Of course. And US is the force of Good and Freedom and Democracy.... oh boy... tell Serbia and Iraq about murdering tyrants...

If your are interested in information exchange and not just an argument... Krimea never belonged to Ukraine. It was given to it "as a gift" by Ukrainian head of USSR Khruschev. Simfiropol is a Russian city. Abkhazia and Ossetia were Autonomous Republics (that USSR had 16 in total) and were supposed to get the same rights to self-determination as Georgia did. It is not my fault that you can't read Russian. If you fully trust your information sources (as most americans did with 9/11), then just ignore whatever I say - it is of no value to you... -

In other news.... Saakashvili signed the document but himself, Condy and Bush keep talkin about Georgia's "territorial integrity"... Point 6 of the document that was signed - kiss the "territiorial integrity" good-bye. Condy keeps talking about "International Peacekeeping Force" in the breakaway regions. International as in Georgian, Ukrainian and other (Estonia, US?) forces that attacket Tshinval? That's not going to happen. Bush and Condy keep saying "Russia get OUT!". Well, Medvedev said we'll be out as soon as we finish our business -

You're talking as if you lived there... but you have not. Do you think all communists were Russian? Tipical western brain-washing... Yes, people starved at times... History is ugly... but I can guarantee you more Russians starved to death than Ukrainian... Look at how USSR fell apart - every republic was allowed to leave with whatever territory was assigned to it by USSR. The republics then in turn were supposed to give their autonomous republics a freedom of choice too - something Georgia forgot to do. -
I have a Zenit that's older than myself - gift from my father. It should work but I haven't tried to use it in the last 20 years... But usually Russian-made sh*t works, even half a century after it was made. Most Chinese sh*t is now OK, but it used to break on second use...

Yeah! Nice song...

Actually, they are not playing victims... Georgia is... US is playing rightfull anger... This may happen again soon, with Ukraine... Poland loves to b*tch about Russia... I have read some of their writers - Kafka, Lem - very smart people. Beautiful women, too... They consider themselves superior to Russians and definitely more intelligent than Americans. Russians don't hate Polish - they have no reason to... The world, Pinky, the world... I am very proud for China! Honestly, I would have given them half of Siberia just out of sheer good will I am sure they will be on the Moon very soon - and for a good reason! China needs raw materials to supply the world with consumer goods. Those could be found on the Moon. Besides, building there should be cheaper as the force of the gravity is 3 times lesser... Kudos to China! They are the only Socialists who have done it right.

You have to be thankful USSR kept the nasty ones in for as long as they did (Georgia, Azerbaidzan) -

Hmmm... Now I know you're not Georgian - they usually don't spend time on political forums Accept the fact. If you don't believe it - check more sources. I guess you missed the joke... Saakashvili won presidency with US help and by promising Georgian people he would bring their break-away regions back in line. US have have created some of the best civilized countries - Japan, West Germany, South Korea... but they have also created some of the most inhuman monsters: Saddam, Bin Laden and lately - Saakashvili... -
By agreeing to deploy parts of the ABM shield on their territory, Czechia and Poland became prime targets in case of a conflict. Wehereas the radar in Czechia can be taken out by conventional weapons, the silos in Poland will require nuclear strikes. As a counter-measure, Russia could deploy missles in the Kaliningrad region - I'm sure that will make their friends from Poland and Baltic states happy BTW - it is always cheaper an more effective to develop a better sword than a better shield.

bush_cheney2004, Thank you for an intelligent post. Americans have done and helped a lot in WW2, and that's appreciated by most nations. In Georgia's case, however, it seems that they have provided "gunpowder, munitions and Studebekers" to a state that used them to murder civilians. I'd like to share a little story I read on multiple Russian websites and leave it to you and other to dissmiss or to draw conclusions from: Many Russian sources are saying that Serbia, Georgia, Ukraine and Belarus are (were) all part of the same US project. The "Peaceful Revolution" of Serbia (2000), the "Rose Revolution" of Georgia (2004), the "Orange Revolution" of Ukraine (2004-2005) and Belarus failed "Revolution" of 2006 (father Lukashenka did not allow). Saakashvili lived in US and gives his disinformational interviews in English; Yuschenko's wife is a US citizen, he is friends with Saakashvili, claims he's ugly because Russian FSB tried to poson him (FSB does not "try", it gets things done). I am sure that if a pro-western president would have been elected in Russia, US would have convinced him to split the country (easier to rule that way). So you can see that the Russia's feeling of alienation, isolation and betrayal is justified. There probably are no 2 other nations that are as close as Russians and Ukarinians. However, thanks to US dollars the Russian-hating spirit originating in Poland and spreading through the West of Ukraine, we now almost have them going to war one with the other. What a goddam shame... And a clear example of Divide and Conquer by US.

I agree, Putin is exercising way more power than the "Democratic" canon dictates. But then that may be exactly what Russia needs to get back on its feet and not be broken into smaller states. My friend, the only source I knew who could rival Saakashvili is the Iraq Minister of Information -

PoliticalCitizen replied to August1991's topic in The Rest of the World
If Russia decides to "fix" Ukraine's "broken" pro-western course, then they probably be kicked out of everywhere But if it's just for Georgia - nah... I don't think so. -
So you agree then that the missle shield in Europe is not meant to protect US from Iran
-
You may be right... Do you mind summarizing it for me?
-
I kind of felt I wouldn't find a lot of supporters here... But hey - thanks for bringing some details up. Why is it the Americans that are knocking a Georgia's door? They are not neighbors or even distant relatives. What business to they have in that region?

Dude, look at the DATE of the story in your link. It is 04 of July, which is NOT when the conflict started. There are no doubts about who started the conflict on 08 of August - it was the Georgian military (with brotherly help from Ukrainians and Estonians, maybe some US mercenaries). -

While I sympathize with your indignation I cannot help but notice that you are not very familiar with the former Soviet Union or its Republics. And I find it totally hipocrytic of Georgia and Ukraine to say they were "held by force" within the Soviet Union. Stalin was Georgian and Khruschev was Ukrainian. The peoples of Soviet Union lived together PEACEFULLY and enjoyed almost equal rights. If you knew the history of Soviet Union you would know that at the time it was formed Poland (another hypocritic country) was annexed to Russian Empire. And Lenin let them and Finland go away because he wanted the republics to be together WILLINGLY.
