U.S. Presidential Elections 2008

You spend too much time watching late night tv, and probably altogether way too much time on the internet. -
U.S. Presidential Elections 2008
the janitor replied to moderateamericain's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
If that's the case, I'm hoping McCain wins. If he dies in office Sarah can be president. With a gorgeous woman like that at the helm, who cares what happens to the economy (or the environment for that matter). ALL HAIL SARAH! -
U.S. Presidential Elections 2008

If McCain want to win this election he's got to get his act together and stop waffling on the economy. Obama's been pretty short on specifics but his advantage is that his party isn't in the Whitehouse right now. McCain and the Republican strategists have got to come up with something BIG on the economic front soon, they're running out of time. -

Problem is not many people see things the way janitors do. Janitors aren't real idealistic. Political rhetoric doesn't count for much when you're cleaning a toilet, it's just the stuff that comes out the other end. Janitors can accept the world the way it is, not pretend it's something it isn't. Don't really have any choice.

It was hardly a right-wing putsch. I'm sure there were some card-carrying liberals killed on 9/11. The response to go to war was reasonable even if the planning and execution thereof was amiss.

I'm sorry if you don't like the "sound" of my posts. I'm just asking a question, not writing a moral thesis on the event. Another terrorist attack seems a probability if al Qaeda has the opportunity.

Thank you for the lesson in english composition. Let me reciprocate with a spelling tip for you: "eradicate" does not have to Rs, "error" does, as in "America made an error in electing George W. Bush". My substandard sentence construction aside, if you don't understand what I am saying, just read slower.

That includes Americans more than anyone else. Universal healthcare a "tyranny"? Now look who's indulging in fantasies. If Americans want to spend billions on private healthcare and still let millions of their own countrymen die without it then let them . I won't argue. It's not my country. If they want to live with the fantasy that their system of government is better than a parliamentary system that's fine with me too. They're the ones stuck with it and the half-assed legislation it produces.

So how long do you think it will be before another 9/11-style terrorist attack against the United States? It's not like they've stopped the Al-Qaeda or won the war in Iraq or Afghanistan. WHat do you think the response will be if and when it happens again?

What went wrong for Hillary Clinton?

That has more to do with being an American than being a Republican or Democrat. -

American whores...all politicians are, that's the only way anything gets done politically. American politicians are just less picky about who they screw. -
American Woman is right. You cannot give preference to people who support a government position over those who oppose it. Doing so is information management, putting a spin on things, and goes against the fundamental principles of free speech. Incidentally, free speech is not something invented by the U.S. Bill of Rights. And I think American Woman's concern is that it isn't doing much to protect it. SUre you can file suit against the U.S. government. Good luck winning that case

Let's face it, the environment is beyond human ability to affect or control or improve on. The environment is going down the pooper and the human race is going with it. It's inevitable and only a matter of time. Not saying I'm happy about it, I just think given human nature and the magnitude of the problems were facing politically when it comes to the environment, we're toast.

The Bras D'Or was designed as a tail craft, towing a tail instead of a variable depth sonar (which submarines can hear in the water). The Bras D'Or was very quiet under the water when it was running on it's foils. THere were two problems: one was that it was part of emerging intelligence technology that was not in place yet and also was beyond what the government wanted to spend on it, which would've required new ships (the St. Laurent/Restigouche destroyers still being fairy new). The other problem was that they couldn't get the BRas D'or working reliably. UNfortunate.

Someone is a nutjob just because they disagree with you? Sounds about as intolerant as anything else to me. -
Human rights agency trying to shut down charities

HELLOOOOOOO! That's exactly what they have, Mr. Give your head a shake. I'd suggest you get your head out of the sand. There are many Christian, Jewish and Muslim aid agencies that get government funding without the government telling them (or anybody else for that matter) what to believe. They receive funding for the service they provide, not for their beliefs. Looks like some people have been shaking their head so much they don't believe anything unless it's given a spin. Go back to sleep. -
Let's go with the NH 90 or some Russian copters. We don't always have to buy from the US.

Very well said. This is exactly the issue. -

Why? Someone can be gay or lesbian and still be versed in theology. Religious doctrines can still be presented from a secular standpoint. No one has to be a Muslim to understand or even teach about Islam. -
Social programs are not government handouts any more than a defence contract is: government money is OUR money.
