  1. I wonder what the people in the rural ridings of Ont. and quebec wil think of this"whipped" vote? Ignatieff already has Toronto montreal and vancouver, this won't win him much support in areas he needs.
  2. It depends on the type of plan they are looking for is it defined benefit or defined contribution? One is very detrimental to the company and can leave huge unfunded liabilities, which are dramatically augment in time likes these.
  3. A common criminal doesn't care that you care or society cares. Are you going to register knives next (the mayor of Edmonton wants to do this). They kill more people then guns in Canada. Are you going to send a message? Symbols don't save people lives, banning something doesn't stop the criminal element in society. What you want is a simple answer to a complex problem, and in this case it just doesn't work.
  4. The way the exerpt reads is like (although not directly) an endorsement of the section 13 of the Human Rights commision.
  5. So the Liberal Party of Canada is unable to take credit for our banking system, and its structure.
  6. And how would having it registered have stopped her from shooting anyone? How is it that frequent drug busts turn up weapons that are already banned in Canada? How did they get here, (illegally) and would a weapon bought or gained illegaly be register by that criminal?
  7. The power that allowed the minister to do that was afforded to them by the PC's in the bank act.
  8. The liberals didn't do it, the Mulrooney PC's the Bank Act was written in 1991, that puts the thanks directly on the shoulders of someone I am not even too fond of Brian Mulroony. At least it can be said that it wasn't the liberal party.
  9. Or forced into (under duress by a union).
  10. How are we suppose to take what was written? What did Ignatief mean what greater context is there?
  11. I never new that using the members statements to read exerpts from articles and books to be insulting. Especially since they were written by the Liberal leader.
  12. The intent wasn't to debate Ignatieff's words, it is up to him to explain them if there is some larger context, I will leave it for Dobbin since I doubt Ignatief will personally be posting in threads. Our politicians should have to answer for what they write and the opinions that they express.
  13. I seem to recall the conservatives voing against liberal budgets during PMPM's tenure.
  14. Ya for the liberals will we or won't we form the next government, that is the only cost that is weighed.
  15. Funny how those on the board swear up and down he is Canadian, but look at all those "we americans"
  16. He said the Conservatives had adopted many Liberal proposals, but had not gone far enough. He said the government "is going broadly in the direction that we recommended" citing investment in infrastructure, the auto sector, public transit, police forces and making the gas transfer tax to the municipalities permanent. In a statement the Liberals branded the Conservative plan a "watered-down Liberal budget." http://www.nationalpost.com/news/story.html?id=336331

  18. What Ignatieff of today isn't the Ignatieff of yesterday, he changed as soon as he entered the liberal party, did he change who he is when he became leader. Or is it maybe you just didn't know how to deal with this tidbit so your tring to spin it away?
  19. who set up the hrc's? wasn't a onservative government. Those that preside over them what political affiliation are they? They are all on the left and you know it Dobbin. It is not us who persecute you, it is you who persecute us.
