one of my best friends of over 10 years is going back for a third time very soon - not that it's any of your business. i'm getting sick of getting into absurd side debates with a such a useless tool, completely unwilling to debate things in a civil manner and acknowledge anything that may run contrary to your skewed worldview. and i'm sure i'm not the only one here feeling that way. just look at this thread - everyone here is wasting their time responding to your personal attacks and mistake ridden, baseless views. ffs - you were even launching personal insults at a guy suffering from arthritis. we're never going to have a sensible conversation or debate here with you making hateful posts completely detached from reality. grow up.
-
Sorry, it did. there was a few families belonging to a recently (at the time) slain soldier who made a really big stink about it. their thinking was that they died for the benefit of the nation defending democracy & freedom etc - and as such all canadians should be able to share the loss as a community. one family member even criticized the decision in the eulogy!!! also - some family & friends can't make the return ceremonies and would expect to be able to watch it on tv.
-
that is utter nonsense.
-
well either way is wild speculation on both our parts. but with people currently involved with the military it's been a much more "what have you done for me lately" attitude, I'd say. while the Cons have pumped way more money into the military they've also disrespected them in the ways I listed earlier.
-
perhaps former. i'd say, knowing people actually currently serving, that the Libs have the advantage with the enlisted.
-
Yes. I know that. But Harper started off by banning them outright. After a lot of outcry he decided to revise his position.
-
From wanting to match them into Iraq, to refusing to lower the flag for fallen troops, to barring any media from funeral/return ceremonies - I can tell you the people I know in the military are not exactly Harpers biggest fans at this point!
-
HI DERE BRYAN!
-
i've honestly not heard of the guy until this dionbook idiocy. and i *work* with some of the Lib talking heads! maybe you could argue someone like Kinsella *might* be semi public - he's on tv once in a while and has a published book. even then i'm not sure "semi-public" means they should be fair game for Con mud slinging by either definition.
-
umm... so that's his claim to semi-fame? being mentioned in a couple of articles? you've got to be kidding! i stand by my previous statement.
-
Not by any stretch of any reasonable human beings' imagination a public figure.
-
http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_xi0ZAy5bbDo/SMbD...-h/Dionbook.jpg well there's this dude. a blogger, works for the Libs, but isn't running for office and doesn't seem to be a public figure of any sort.

ya, I'd love to be able to confirm this for myself but it's "over its bandwidth allotment". (i am making a face right now there is no emoticon for)

Networks Decide not to Allow The Green Party in Debate
thermo replied to M.Dancer's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
So the NDP and Cons have now said they will not boycott the debate if the Greens are there. May might make it in after all! -
Apparently they're attacking not only Libs running for office, but pro-Liberal bloggers too! Citizens!!! This is definitely going way too far!

Remember all the past lies/scandals from the Federal Liberals
thermo replied to TCCK's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Thank you! that's what i thought but I couldn't find any data on SSM opinions. even the more conservative people I know were ok with the idea. -
While I agree this isn't exactly a scandal by an means... I do always find it interesting when we see Harper/the Cons - who went into the last election posing as the champions of an open and democratic way of governing - hand picking candidates, often against the will of the local riding associations without a vote or even discussion. This sort of thing can be expected when you subvert the democratic system and have a just few people making decisions like this.
-
you might have an easier time debating your point if you stop using such condescending terms. you don't have to agree with everyone here; you don't even need to admit they have a valid point (which they - we - really do, agree or not) but try to phrase things in a less agresive manner and we all mighht have an easier time here.
-
This is not the argument Harper is putting forward in regards to "disfunction" tho! if that were true he should have dissolved Parliament a long, LONG time ago!
-
Despite the "dysfunction" they were the longest serving minority gov't in Canadian history? They've passed three budgets successfully? They've also managed to pass a boatload of other bills - including an agreement on the Afghan mission? those all seem like good indicators of a functioning house to me.

thermo replied to M.Dancer's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
In the case of the Reform it was a bi-election victory that sent their lone person to the house. The Bloc might be a different story tho. -
Does anyone have a link to this btw? i can't find it anywhere (with the bird poop).
-
God, these ads are brutal. With that sappy piano music playing and Harper pimped out like Mr. Rogers! I also don't understand this "i'm a family man" crap. it has literally nothing to do with running a nation! like if he was single he'd be unfit for the job (or more so depending on your views). also: i don't really give a f__k about his kid either.

A conservative vs. a socialist (NDP) government
thermo replied to 1967100's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
easy mcarthy - there is no one currently in the party old enough to have been around for that, i assure you. and there is nothing - literally nothing in the ndp charter that would imply any sort of shadowy dedication to a communist agenda of any sorts. -
