  1. You know one of the worst things I find in this, is that the privacy Act has been so over utilised in the most foul way possible, to try and achieve political gain. When personal privacy gets to this level of pettiness, then it is time to call a time out. This never was in the spirite of the privacy act and therefore should not even be considered. The courts do recognise the spirite of the laws, and this has been stretched so thin by the liberal trying to make points, that it is totally disgusting and the liberals are even trying to invoke the events of the camps of the WWII times. That is wrong to do and I should hope that it costs them dearly for such an attempt. Just how low can a polical party go, before they say it is too contemptable to do this? the answer is even scarier then the question.
  2. I am no fan of the RCMP or their tactics, but this guy was shot in the line of duty and part of that duty was the fact that the job was dangerous and yes death on the job should be something that is embedded into anyone who takes the uniform. I give my condolenses to his family. But I also must ask or more to the point look at the RCMP themselves for not having two man cars especially in these type of areas. Or at least have two cars responding so they get there near the same time. Money is one thing, but preventable loss of life is another, even though this was known and accepted by the officer.
  3. Private clinics and testing facilities are a great way to ease the wait times on the regular system, as long as they charge and bill exacly the same as the Ohip or Qhip will pay. This way you get all the services just by presening the card. We also need smart user cards for all health cards. This is where your whole medical history is on that card, and it can only be used by the person the card was meant for. No more of the old cards, where the same person has had his appendix removed 3 or 4 times, and all photo ID updated every 5 years. If we put these controls in place we will stop the fraud, and that alone will shorten wait times. Many investors would gladly buy shares in any private clinic for test equipment, making better and quicker machines available that will not cost the system more, but will be more efficient. By again we will need the doctors and the nurses and that is still going to be a long term investment. As I said earlier we need to stop our grduating doctors from leaving Canada to practice else where, when we have subsidized their education by as much as $500,000.00.
  4. Can be a violation of the privacy act, or is it a violation of the privacy act? Because so far there has been no good reason to think that there are anything more incidious about this then wishing them a happy holiday, and yes the fact that it comes from a sitting PM, it is currying favour, but in a most respectful way. Now maybe if you had Jean Chretien sending out cards for the Liberals, that would make you happy? You do know that Dion can do this same thing as well but I guess he is too busy trying to pul the knives from his back to get to the post office. I would like to see the real numbers that were sent out and those who really are upset about this, and then show how that is all newsworthy of such a thing. Such a fuss over a few people who really need to get a life, and stop seeing scarey CPC, around every corner.
  5. Ok I am going to turn this down a notch and ask that, we be shown proof that this means that the CPC is gathereing lists illegally by religions and do so for some evil purpose, other then wishing someone a happy holiday. Does this card say anything to make you think there is some deeper record of your following faith or lack there of? The answer is know because they obviously did not know that this one person was really a non-practicing jew. Does it inferr any threat in any way shape or form? No it basically wisher her a happy holiday. It was not an offensive card by chance? no it was a simple picture of the Harper family with the objects that are used in the holiday tradition. The only thing the Liberals can come up with is the fact that he invaded her priacy, by sending her a card. I suppose that this has happened to all of us many times during our lives, and silly us we did not think anything more of it then it was a nice things to do. But by the liberal standards this is against the law and must be stamped out and apolgised for. Judging by the responces JD you made a big mess with this position you are taking. I really doubt that even the liberals here will care to back you up very far on this. Do you not see this as being basically wrong? It was a card and holiday greeting and I am sure a very large number were sent out, and it seems that the majority were not offended by this. I am not sure of your religious background, but it does not matter, as just about any faith I can bring to mind, would not be offended by this kind of event. In fact most would wave with pride and say I got a card from the PM, wishing me happy holiday. Some may even keep it for their scrap books. Others will read and throw away. Only those with twist views would see this in the incidious way you have portrayed it. Is this the kind of skill the Liberals want in their party? It is sad commentary to see this here, and what is even worse is when you can not admit to it being wrong headed in the first place.
  6. We shall see coot. But if as I expect that these receptors are multi purpose then I will have have to say that my own view was correct, but yes I would hope I am wrong and these are single purpose, as that is the easiest way to stop the pot wars, would be to simply make it so there is no affect therefore no demand. If this were the case I would think that any person with any knowledge of these things would not have already done this, as it is not leading edge stuff. This would require low to mid level knowledge to produce that kind of blocker and anything single use in that area would make it easy to permanently block the receptors, without any other harm. It would make the perfect tool to end illegal pot use completely. But yes it would also end any recreational use for it as well, but that would be another discussion. As for others doing this, I would suspect they have found that it is not the receptors that are unique but maybe the protein binders, and if so this would be a much harder task, as cancelling protiens opens up all kinds of harms and difficulties. So I hope you can see why I say it was not that simple as was put forward, but I am still looking at this.
  7. I probably have a CSIS file that is at least 150 pages longer then most peoples, and yes they probably know way more about me then the laws allow, but there is nothing I can do that will change that. And especially if they were only wishing me a happy holiday, I would not in any way get uptight about that. people who do get this uptight over this need mental health checks, and since you say you are so troubled about this, may I suggest you get one yourself. You and I both know that you are only blowing this into something, because you want to further the liberal cause, but you have gone way too far and are now only hurting that cause with each and every post in support of this garbage that you make. No one is going to agree that a simple wish of happy holiday has anything more henious to it, then what it actually is. Why would you even try to post this here. It was stupid whenit was in the paper and even more so now here in the forums. Talk about dumbing things down. Well this has definitely bottomed. Shame on the Liberal party for this waton misuse of the media and an insult to the thinking voters. You should go wash after you post this dirt.
  8. Any person walking up to me in the street and saying "Merry Christmas", is invading my privacy and also is impling I am christian. Do you think I should file a complaint? How dumb does something have to be before you know it is just politics played by the worst type of people, and the worst type of party. Please keep making this more then it is, because right now. I can see past liberal voters, sighing in wonderment as to why they ever entertained the idea that the liberal have changed from the past. This does sound like something I would expect from the liberals and Dion. It just goes to show you that Liberal support comes from the worst side of the community, where wishing some one a happy holiday is an act of invasion of privacy. Only a liberal party would stoop this low, or because they have always been at the bottom, I should say climbed this high, from the gutter.
  9. No need to save face Coot. You still do not understand even basic biology and that most things in the body serve several purposes. if you read right after this about protiens binders, this will mean that it needs this binder to conform to the receptor. But hence our disagreement, but on the bright side, I will have to look into this further and I in a way hope you are right, because if you are it will give me the chance to make use of the genetics portion of my background to possibly come up with a compound that would permanently block these so called receptors, so that there would never be any affect from smoking pot period. This would definitely be an easy sell, and it could be just the thing to come out of retirement for. But as I said I am highly doubtful of this being such a specific receptor, and if it is as i think it is multifunctioned then permanetly blocking it would not be such a good idea.
  10. What is it that wishing someone a happy holiday, is something bad? Is it because these people hide their faith and beliefs? I have many jewish friends and I am never ashamed to wish them wish them a happy holiday. Would I complain if a jew wished me a merry Christmas. How does he know I am christian, are jews keeping track of all of us christians for some evil plot to take over the world economies? HHHMMM better not trust them. See how just plain assinine this is. If the government of the day can not wish people of differing faith happy holiday, then maybe we need to make sure that nobody does. We may have to stamp out this facious practice immediately. How dare they know I am of another faith, and to wish me a happy holiday, well that is just wrong now isn't it. I wonder what would happen if Harper said shalom to a rabbi, would he be punished for it? This thread is stupid in the extreme and is nothing but a liberal tactic to start shit. It is dumb and mean spirited and an insult to everyone who thinks for themselves. As for how addresses got to be given, hell I am sure that I have had my address given to all kinds of differing religiuos organizations, and I do not complain at Christmas that I receive unsolicited Chirstmas cards from jewish store owners or from the MP for my area. If I did not want it I can throw it out. I would not run to the opposition party and claim that these people are keeping track of christians. That only happens in the dirty liberal tactics room now doesn't it. Scarey, scarey liberal backroomers, you know the guys who taught Chretien all the dirty tricks, still there trying to suck the tit of the tax payers, ready to again screw them over if given half the chance.
  11. I see our healthcare problem as one of not having the doctors more then not having the hospitals. we here in Canada educate doctors and as soon as they get their license to practice they leave. What we need is a contrat that is binding on all doctors we educate, that if say the subsidized part of their education is $500,000.00, and if you practice in Canada for ten years, we will forgive that subsidy. But if you leave Canada before ten years of practice then we will assess that amount plus interest for the education that they will leave with. It would only be fair because we as the people do subside these peoples education immensely. If we are not going to benefit from this subsidy, then we should be paid back for it. Then maybe we will see the doctor shortage ease up and then can work on other supporting figures like nurses and and staff. The federal government should find a committee that will come up with a formula for for any given population there must be one hospital, or in rural areas a set distance for every hospital. This shoudl be Canada wide and so it shoulkd be a federal issue, and if necessary subsidies from federal accounts for this. Then maybe we will in time get back our balanced approach to health care.
  12. I have read all these and I still stand by what I am saying. The reason they name them that way is for convience and expidious use to give them an identifing name. It would be like instead of explaining the working of the Aveoli in the lungs they say oxygennoidal receptors of the lungs. There have not renamed the aveoli, but have referred to it by use and possible function, to expidiously get around having to go through that whole mechanism. I do find it bad use and it would never fly in the lab logs, but for public ease of definition it is now ok I guess.
  13. I think that it will be the liberals who will support the speech from the throne. But I aslo will not rule out NDP support, if Harper puts in any goodies about tax cuts and transfers. Layton has eaten crow before and he would not be above asking for second helpings. If Harper does any kind of relief on taxes, Layton will say that over rides his principals on the rest. We all know it for what it is, but he will try to spin it any way he can. I worry more about the Bloc. I feel when they think they are being oinched they will again inflame the seperatist rhectoric, to see if they can again grab on to those feelings of resentment. I have read in the news about the little squabbles the PQ is having with their sign police and the wording on signs for Quebec City etc. They are feeling the hurt from the provincial elections and now as a wounded animal are again going back to basic instincts. I think that the Bloc, may well follow that same plan, and that will not be good for Canada. So yes I do hope Harper can pull off his Quebec plan and get the support locked up, if he can. I think a stable Quebec is a good thing for the rest of Canada, but many here I am sure will see it differently. There does not seem to be any chance of Dion being able to stabilized the quebec voters, and NDP well lets be realistic and say they have one seat, and that is about it. Harper is just the natural choice for a stable quebec within Canada. I never would have thought that I would say this, in this context. But it is the truth as I see it anyways.
  14. It is you who does not see what all this science talk means. For one thing they are grouping cannabinoids as the products of many differing compounds similar chemically to THC. They there are stating that these compounds that are processed by receptors in the brain hence they use the word cannabinoid receptors only in that context. You were using it as a noun by naming them that way, and there are no such animal. That is what I said from the beginning. You were trying to take all this to mean we have a preconceived receptors just for cannabis and it is not so, these same receptors will process hundreds of differring compounds and the many differing forms of THC are just a small number of these componds. They are and never will be so specific. But if they were then we could easily today develope blocking agents that would lock on to these and not get processed, which would then make people immune to all that category of drug. Also no I graduated from Queens in the 70's, and I have worked for many companies and then owned my own labs and other companies in my life. I did find as I got older that if I wanted to do things my way, because I thought they were better, I would have to start my own companies. I enjoyed this and I also allowed all my employees to express their ideas and in many cases they did make excellent progress in changing times. So no, I did not just let time make me obslete, but time and health did make me retire, but now that I am, I find it boring. I have travelled a fair amount. That is the greatest teacher of all, and if I could I would make it so every school made the older classes take trips to other continents every summer, but yes I know that is pie in the sky thinking, but that would round out their education, better then anything that can be taught in classes.
  15. Well you certainly proved my point that no one in their right mind would vote for you in any way. I am very glad you are helping the green party and if there were more like you maybe you could even help the Libers and ND. Just promise me that you will never volunteer to help the CPC, and I am sure that everyone here will thankyou. As for text books changing since my day goes probably, but the same theory has to always hold true until we change the rules of Physics. Your view about why I am accepted or not here is amusing to me, so I will let you have it your way. I never liked the road well travelled, but you can only have the right to choice that later in life after your education, because to take the road less travelled in education usually gives you failure, but occasionally will give rise to great genius. My time has come and gone mostly, but I still may yet get back into things as retirement is boring, but we will need to see what I may like to do. I may start up another business and hire a few people, but it just does not seem worth sifting through a large number of candidates for a job and pick one or two. I always hated that.
  16. Coot you are crazy to use that source for your cannibioid receptors, as it is one where anyone can upload anything and call it what ever they want. Also I do not spell check my posts, and yes as I am not a good typist but I will bet my Boichemical engieering degree trumps what ever education you have. There are no such thing as cannibinoid receptors, never was and never will be. Go get a book on the anatomy of the brain and look it up. What you are talking about is a person who for lack of knowing what these things were called then he made a surperfilous name for the real receptors that handle this, because he did not know what receptors in the brain process THC not Cannibis. These are the active agents and yes they are received by receptors that service many differing compunds therefore are not called Cannanbinoid receptors. Maybe you need to learn somethings before you use them. Also you think that kids finding drug staches are just the fault of bad parenting and not the drug. Well when a one year old eats a few grams of hash, do you think it does not affect him. Or if he finds his daddy's speed stache, it will not kill him? Yes it is bad parenting to have any drugs in the home period, and you lock cupboards against children finding bleach and draino. But you should never have drugs in the house period. Once again for the slow learners. All amounts of pot, hash and their oils, are illegal here in Canada. There never has been any law passed that reduces to fines, small amounts (Under 30 gramms) of any of them. There is not pending legislation to reduce these laws to this coming in any of the next planned government. So it does not matter that you say Pot is victimless because it is just by its very nature that it is not legal, and for the forseeablke future will never be legal, or even reduced to fines for simple possession. These are the known facts and I can not bother listening to them being disputed. Shavluk I do not know where you get this garbage about being a green party candidate, but so far I have not been able to get Elizabeth May to say you are in any way associated with them at all. I am going to have to give her a few more days to respond, but I showed a copy of this to the green candidate for my area, and he laughed and said no way would he ever consider this in their platform. But I will wait to see what May says. You have brought over yourself and a couple buddies from what ever site you were on previously, trying to sell the good people here a bill of malarke. You even try insults when inteelect will not work, but I will admit I have used the same back at your ridiculous claims and views. I still can not figure your end game as you definitely are no poster boy for any cause that I can think of. What bothers me most about this last week or so of this stuff, is that it has detracted from real issues and important discussion about the federal politics has taken a slide in this last week. I kind of hope it will get back to its former self. This whole thread is just going no where, and it is not something that is being considered by the government, rather they are enforcing things more then considering lessening things. But I guess they all can dream of the day when drugs are all free and legal, and the streets are paved with gold.
  17. Harper can at this moment in time give tax cuts and all kinds of incentives for people to have children and along with that he may well even give psecial transfers to the cities and many other good things. He is the PM now and the times are good to the tune of 14.3 billion and how to best return some to the voters and distribute some much needed money to cities for mass transit or other things and still be able to make the books balance without a problem. The opposition will have no say in this and to defeat the government on these issues will be suicide. Harper is well past the post in many things and if the tough on crime issues are not past this time then he can say it is the fault of the senate and there liberal based and corrupt ways. He will further his cause for abolishing the senate or at least senate reform and he will be getting a pass on why things can not be done, and needs a majority to do so. Maybe the Libs here are slow on the uptake when they is no money in it for them. But I am sure their understand all too well and looking at they leader is not going to build any confidences.
  18. As for whether pot cause brain damage, Coot here is a fine shining example of this. Cannibinoid receptors???? where did you study anatomy? It definitely was not from any accredited place. There are receptors in the brain that handle protiens and many other hormones and drugs. But there are albsolutely no such thi ng asa cannibinoid receptor. Only an ill informed person would even try to make that pig fly. Coot go to the nearist university and go into the library and have them show you the Encycopedia of Hormones and Drugs. It will not only tell you what they are, but how they react and are received in the brain. It has been a long time since I was in school but I remeber looking up about Marijuana back then, and it did not describe anything along the lines Coot has said. I think this just does show you that pot really does cause brain damage. They now think that man has special receptors to process pot and this therefore proves taht man was supposed to be smoking pot. Give me a break from this lunacy. Ah I gotta go to a Thankgiving dinner, this will make for ssome real comedy at the table.
  19. You still do not get the point. It is the very fact that Harper has done all this and it will be the opposition seen as calling an election not Harper. That is why I think that there will not be an election this fall. I just can not believe that the opposition has not seen things the way I have said here. If that is the case then I will have to wonder at their basic instincts. Harper now will take the high ground on all issues that are wanted by the voters. Tax cuts and many others. The oppositions can not use that same thing because it would look like they are just coping. From this point forward if an election is not called Harper will make it so the opposition will be seen as the big bad scarey oppositions. The tables have turned and it seems that people have not yet seen this.
  20. Hhhmmm. Well drea that is all verey well and good, but you see it is not legal and it will never be legal. It is that fact that makes this seem so dumb. First off legalising it will not stop gro-ops and the internal fighting. Tobacco is legal and deaths have been had from the selling of it without taxes being paid. So the same thing will happen. Only it would be on a larger scale. The majority of the public has tried pot, and only a small minority do it ever day. Most do not think it should give you a criminal record for first possession, but they also believe dealers should go to jail . So those are the facts. So yes those who get records because of being caught are vitims and also those killed in the production and the roberies in this are also vitims. So are the neighbours whose home values dropped because of the gro-op next door just sold for pennies on the dollar, because of its toxic contents and there by lower all home values near it. You are wrong that the only reason the criminal elents is involved is because it is illegal. First off, we all know that government grown pot is very weak and it is done this way because they want to set a limit of THC content. The will not be allowed to grow it even if it was legal because of the toxic nature of the chemicals to force grow in our short season here in Canada, and greenhouses will also become toxic by canadian standard and will then have to be vented and therefore will not be in cities due to the nature of the vented toxins. I will not say that all people who smoke pot are the waton dufus's we see in the youger examples today. But I also can use these same types to show that there is a good chance you will be like these people. I guess it all has to do with the intellect of the person to start with. As for alcohol goes, yes kids have died from ODing on that, but kids who have eaten and ingested hash as toddlers, have had many mental problemns there after as well. Just because it did not kill you does not mean it does not harm you. I also believe you said you had a kid. Mind if I drop by and get him to eat an once of hash, to see what happens? Of course you would not let me, as you know that while the kid may live he will be screwed up for quite a while, if not permanently. As for those who enjoy their spliff after work goes, maybe their employers do not mind. One of the companies I had did highend tower work, and if I even thought they were doing drugs they would have been gone so fast. The insurane I had to pay for was very expensive but necessary. I could have easily lost all if an emplee screwed up while high, and I mean that in both the ways it can be taken. I also owned water testing laboratories, where environment needed to be controlled and monitored, if anyone smoked or did any drugs there, I would have prosecuted them, again because they could have cost me that whole laboratory. So it depends on what you do for a living as to whether your employer will make an issue of this or not. But then, that onus should fall on the people who should know this. As to your claim about pot smoking does not induce crime goes, have you seen the long long lists of petty theft and robberies, that have been committed by kids, who were looking to find cash to buy pot? I know these do not make the newspapers, but maybe someone from the law enforcement side here on this form could supply you with the numbers. I do know from many enforement speakers to community, that the number are in the thousands each month here in Canada. But they don't count right?
  21. I guess you just do not yet see the manouvering that has taken place. I guess Harper really did a brilliant job, even more so then I think he did. Do you think all this corralling and placing of the opposition in between a rock and a hard place, was just done by fate? Do you think that Harper is saying I wish this did not happen? Do you think that Duceppe, Dion and Layton all think what their recent statements have been, could not be taken back now? I know that I have not seen this political brilliance by a minority government ever before, and I am pretty long in the tooth. As I have said in many different threads I do not belive that there will be an election this fall. But if there is the only one that will gain seats will be Harper. Whether it will be anough for a majority or a small minority, is right now a close call. But if I look at who the debates will have and knowing what I do about them all, it is not that hard to see where it will go, and majority could even go to vast majority, if the opposite can not get organized, and start thinking for themselves. I just can not see Dion even coming out as a close loser, but rather a decimated loser. Now, do the number that are shown today take al this into account? No, and that is the beauty of this, it means the oppositions may well think they can call and election and gain something. Could I have all this wrong? Yes, but if I am wrong then why is it soo hard for the opposition to make up their minds about this?
  22. This may be so, but I will also say that when the RCMP raid criminal enterprises they are very well armoured and equipped with weapons. The people who are in the underworld today, have no fear of killing police and many will load their own guns with copperjacketed nylon tipped bullets, that will peirce most body armour. Those who have good aims (gotten from much practice) will shoot for the head and face, which will kill quickly. Others will aim for the exposed armes and legs, but yes either way more police get kiiled here in the south, then the north. But not if you take population into account. Even the street level dealers now are all armed and this is just like the USA back 20 years ago. It will climb higher and higher, to where cop killing will be something they will brag about. Where back in my day that was something that was kept so quiet that talking about it, would get you kiiled. Times change and I do not think for the better. Crooks in the way back when who were sucessful, were reasonably smart. Today it seems that they recruit from the shallow end of the gene pool. Our friend with the Green party is a good example of this thinking. I better leave it there as I do not want to hurt any feelings by stating the obvious.
  23. You keep using thisas some sort of mantra. My guess would be that Harper would love the polls just as they are. Only a fool would even begin to think that once an election was called, that these numbers will hold. What you see at this moment is the old "my father voted liberal and so will I", attitude. Even you a staunch Liberal must concede that Dion and his floundering party, would be no match for anyone, right now. The Liberal funds are near broke, and I do think that there will be no funds from the provincial liberals coming, as they have spent big already in the provincial elections. And the Quebec liberals will remember that the CPC helped them, more then their own party in the last elections there. So just how stupid would the voters have to be to keep propping up the Liberals, when it is obviuos they could not run a canoe let alone a ship. The numbers will swing hard and fast away from the liberals, and once they have a open debate, well Dion will be cooked more done, then the turkey I will eat this weekend. The backroom boys still can not be seen lending any hands in this as that would be suicide for the party, and the liberal machine with Dion at the helm is like matching a moped against a formula one car. So the numbers being as they are, is just what Harper will be hoping and even pushing for, as if the real numbers were shown, there is no way that an election would be called. Do you think that Harper has not done his own private polling? He probably is roaring with glee at all of this. But yes he will not show that in public. Once an election is called the voters will be roaring with laughter at Dion, and that I could make book on.
  24. I would tend to think that this officer was shot by someone from the domestic disturbance, but given the area and the fact that, that far north their are many people with rifles, that could take a shot at him. This makes me wonder if they should not have had two officers per car in the night time, but I guess budgets etc., were also a problem. It is real easy for use who sit this far south where people normally are safe, to forget that our north is still much like the old west was.
