  1. CTV left wing? Let's see, would the following meet your left wing criteria: National Post, News Max, Independent Media, CanWest Global, Maclean's, Global T.V.?
  2. Well gee, your guy is in power. Too bad he doesn't have the stones or political will to pull the plug on the C.B.C.
  3. Sorry you have trouble with comprehension. I'll try this again. The majority of those polled think Bush is the worst President ever. And the 28 out of a 100 are those who approve of Bush, or 72% of Americans think Bush is taking the US on a wrong track. There, simple enough?
  4. Another bequest from Dubya: If the United States were able to reach its goal of having North Korea surrender its plutonium, substantial concessions would be justified. But senior administration officials say they don't expect that the Kim regime will turn over its plutonium in the coming nine months. That raises the question of why President Bush would allow North Korea to evade full disclosure. Mr. Hill's deal would preserve the negotiating process -- but what does the Bush administration stand to gain from it? All along the risk has been that North Korea would repeatedly extract economic and political favors from the United States without giving up its nuclear arsenal. The latest deal would seem to greatly increase the chance that that will be the legacy of Mr. Bush's diplomacy. link
  5. Yeah, gotta love those CIA operations.
  6. Try reading the the Old Testament. God was pretty nasty back then.
  7. These "left wing" historians are pretty much in line with the American public. Here's a few figures that help to back up their opinions, particularly in regards to the U.S. economy: link
  8. I'm a little confused. By referring to "they" are you talking about the Conservative Party? The Canada Election Act specifies that the commissioner is appointed by the Chief Electoral Officer and the CEO is appointed by parliament. link
  9. Well, apparently 81% of the American public , "according to a recent New York Times poll, believe Bush has taken the country on the wrong track." Even the Pew Research Centre sites an approval rating of 28%. I don't think die hard Republicans would respond negatively in those kinds of polls, hence either the majority of responders are left wing or Bush is clearly in the lower tier of Presidents. In regards to the original poll I linked to, it was conducted by History New Network itself. Larry Dewitt is the only historian to speak out against the poll that I know of. So it's his opinion against the majority of 109 other historians.
  10. I guess we don't have to wait for the history books to confirm the obvious. link
  11. I should point out Williams went even further when he said of Watson, "Ever since I've been aware of him, I've always considered Paul Watson to be, you know, a vile, disgusting excuse for a human being,". You still think Williams wasn't out of line? Whatever illegal act Watson has committed he will face the law. But to make those kind of comments only shows the kind of man Williams is. link
  12. You're entitled to your opinion Argus, but when a government official makes such slurs it lowers the level of conversation akin to the school yard bully. Like I said Watson and his bunch have every right to protest as long as they follow the rules. To be called a "terrorist" by Danny Williams is entirely irresponsible, yet sadly something I've come to expect from right wing politicians.
  13. And yet Mulroney signed it into law.
  14. I don't think the Fisheries Minister's comments, "money-sucking manipulators" helped at all. They are entitled to protest, as long as they follow the rules. And that seems to be the question right now.
  15. Yeah right, especially when almost every vote is a confidence one. Kinda unprecedented, but that's politics. I kinda hope Harper gets another minority. It would be the death knell for him and Dion.
  16. Well I guess 500,000 is as good a number as any to pull out of one's ass. Sheer speculation my friend. Saddam was well contained, sanctions were working and most of the world knew that. Walk down a street outside the Green Zone in Baghdad and ask the average citizen if they are better off now or before Saddam? Yeah, he was a dictator but there are many around the world. What do you want to do? Pick them off one at a time? I'd rather we fix the UN and help to avoid situations like Danfur and Zwanda than march into countries that pose no threat and invade.
  17. Yeah, still holding it in his cold dead fingers.
  18. Actually and technically they were Mujahideen who were financed and armed by the CIA, China, and other European countries. Reagan referred to them as "freedom fighters," and heroic. (from Wikipedia). Wonder if the gipper would think of their cousins the Taliban as heroic.
  19. Heres' one account of it: Harper was commenting on the ethics of some members of the house of parliament, when he referred to how their "mug shots" might be found in police stations across the country. MP Svend Robinson rose to object to the implication of criminality in Harper's remarks. Harper responded by implying that photographs of Robinson (who is gay) would be found in far more "wonderful" places than a police station.link
  20. Were you 40 when you said them?
  21. Kinda reminds me of all the Christian uproar over The Da Vinci Code, and most hadn't read it.
  22. Even it this is so, to assert that one who requires anti-depressant medication can't function would fall into the stereotype camp. Meds have come a long way.
  23. My, how much you have to learn.
