  1. You just said two different things. You said ban the use, and ban fire arms. I'm sayng that Ontario, according to the leadership, has a huge problem with gang wars happening on the streets. With that in mind, they want to ban firearms from all of Canada. That just won't happen because of the Wests obvious distaste for anything Ottawa has to say about guns. Would it not make more sense for the Premier to have his law makers write a provincial law that bans firearms from city and town areas? The Charter of Rights and freedoms is not what people here think it is. It was wrote to have holes. I'm sure enough holes can be found to give the province control over guns without impacting the rest of Canada. I was also told that the majority of the guns crime occur with handguns, yet the registry shows near zero the amount of weapons used in crime were actually registered. The RCMP admits that 99% of the weapons used in crime are either reported stolen without being registered, or were brought into Canada through illegal means. Instead of putting money into a registry that doesn't actually control firearms that are illegal, perhaps place additional assets into border guards and search more cargo and vehicles crossing into Canada. I also think giving gang members and criminals additional time without parole for crimes involving firearms is a much better idea. I also think a minimum of 7 years without parole for having in your possesion a firearm that you are not licensed for would go a long way to fixing our problem. Pissing off the West is not the right answer.
  2. How do you propose that when it seems it is your constitutional right to own firearms? "Do Canadians have the right to firearms ownership? The English Bill of Rights provided the right to English citizens. The preamble to the British North America Act extended that right to Canadians. The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms guaranteed the continuation of these rights." http://www.cufoa.ca/2.html This it appears, is a federal issue not provincial. Perhaps in the same manner as the City I live in bans the use of firearms within the city limits. I'm no lawyer, nor would I want to be, but I'm sure those people can come up with a well written law that will ban fire arms within City and town limits throughout Ontario.
  3. It sems to me that Ontario is once again trying to get something they want for nothing by barking at a stone wall. Every single day their premier stands up and tells the Federal government that Canada should ban weapons. The shooting at Virginia technical once again has the premeir standing up and screaming that "It's not fair!". As horrible as the killings were, it wasn't the gun that killed the people, it was the mentally unstable kid that pointed the gun and pulled the trigger. We have more people killed by cars and knives than guns, yet we still allow cars and knives in our society and no one ever complains and orders they be removed. Listen people, if you want to ban weapons, then inact provincial laws to get rid of guns. Why should it be a Federal law when you have the power within the provincial regulations to ban weapons. Thinking for two seconds that banning weapons of any kind in the West wouldn't force the start of a break up of the confederation, then you need to look at what's going on in the West. Even this Ontario born and raised boy sees the problems with trying to ban guns in the west where they are actually used for animal control and protection from animals that hunt humans. Cougars and Grizzlies actually enjoy human flesh. So if Attorney General Michael Bryant wants to put his own laws in place with the blessing of brillant the Premier Dalton McGuinty, I say go for it, but stop beating a dead horse as the West doesn't want to play your game. They need guns for protection, not killing off local gang members like Toronto has happening. So if you are part of the church chior Bryant and McGuinty have all round up, sing the blues to the Ontario government to get it's law writers together and make your own provincial law. The rest of Canada doesn't care.
  4. Very much bad politics. CBC and CTV did spot interviews with people from the riding. One thing became very clear to me. Peter is a home town boy and E. May is a slut lciking boots for votes. Who do you think is going to win; even with the pact with the liberals. Even the liberals see this as sham politics. Which isn't surprising since the adscam. Highly unlikely when you have mothers on the 6 o'clock news after hearing of their son's death talking about the importance of getting the job done over there and how proud they are for their son's duty. I know some Liberals here want it to be a bad PR thing, but in reality its has actually brought this country together in a way we haven't seen since WW-2. There are plenty of past liberals lie myself that disagreed with Iraq, but support Afghanistan. I never agreed with the way the Alliance took over, but lets get real. You have a leader who has shown himself capable and able to reach out to all Canadians. Then you have Dion who has fractured the party and appears to me unable to bring the people together unless they are all from my home province of Ontario. Since the population is moving west, I think having Dion in government making decisions is a huge mistake. You are however welcomed to your opinion, but I disagree. Dion is not the man, or woman, for the job. All this does is add fuel to the West's urging to go independent from Canada. Not sure if people have noticed, but the West has been making deals with all the US States along the west coast of North America. They have more of an ability to seperate than Quebec since they have resources and the only access to the Pacific. The merging of the two has indeed brought a not so funny laughability to politics, but I expected something like that from Dion. I never liked him and never will. Martin was a far better leader than any of them since Pearson. The merging of the two wasn't required to see that both are full of "hot air". The Liberal Party is split worse than before and the green's simply don't rate. Both these clowns should join the circus and leave real politics to real politicians. I look forward to the next leadership race for the Liberals as I think young Trudeau can do a great job of bring the party back to its real roots and making this country a great place. Until then I'll spend my vote on Harper as he actually speaks English and knows about how to "get the job done".
  5. The way I see it is Harper simply did in less than a month what the Liberals couldn't do in 13 years. The problem was resolved enough to save those who were still intact. I guess if I were a Liberal who would rather argue until the entire forest industry had failed, I too would be crying about a billion dollars. I think waiting and crying like the Liberals were doing was leading the industry in BC into the toilet. From what I read, the high count of companies that went belly up during the Liberal Wait-a-thon was becoming critical to the whole operation. In other words, they knew that killing them all wasn't in the best interest of the country. The US Forestry group has deeper pockets due to the Republican backing. Does anyone with a brain cell actually think we Canadians would have won in the long run? The only winners would have been the Canadian lawyers, which by the way were full of Liberal friendly buddies. I would think adscam is just the beginning of ways the Liberals robbed us.
  6. I found it funny that I would see Dion on the news this morning at brunch as he talked about how he and the puppet for the Greens were agreeing to not run in each others regions. I would think this means you are incorrect in not relating Dion to the Green Party. It appears Dion and the Greens are now in bed and he's pumping them for every vote he can get by taking away from the NDP voting crowd.
  7. Topaz how many times do we have to go over this fallacious argument. 1. Harper was a Liberal in high school, I believe Trudeau was a New Democrat before joining the Liberals, in all honesty who cares what a politicians previous political affiliation was thirty years ago. 2. Harper was a PC until the Reform Party was created, the Reform Party dissolved to create the Canadian Alliance, which then united with the PC's to create the CPC. So Harper hasn't jumped ship much, it doesn't make much sense for Harper to be a part of a non-existent party. All politicians jump from party to party during their crawl to the top. A great example of that is Ontario's very own Bob Rae. he's slept with every party except the Conservatives. For that reason alone I'll vote Conservative because the other parties have proven their inability to lead and balance the budget. I also think the criminal elements being right in your face with the NDP and Liberals makes it an easy decision. i may not love Harper, but he at least has a clean history of knowing how to deal with finances.
  8. We have soldiers currently striking known Taliban and other terrorist organizations safe houses and killing them. If that's not illegal, why would killing Muslims in Canada who are planning the death of North Americans be illegal? Is it because murder is simply wrong on Canadian soil, or is it because we don't dirty Canadian soil with that of animals and cowards? I won't discuss the legal issue here, but only the moral issue. I only ask this because I know some of you can be clear on your reasonings and not just reply with dribble. Last night I heard a guy in the bar say that if he ever heard of someone local killing a Canadian he'd take care of it himself because its his duty as a Christian to do so by the word of God. of course I wasn't foolish enough to question this obviously insane person.
  9. I think this media editorial pretty much says it all: http://calsun.canoe.ca/News/Columnists/Bel...12/3991527.html I think its safe to say my opinion of her being a spoiled brat with no ability to concentrate on anything for more than a few minutes at a time are correct. I would think her parting words would be "Basium meus ass vos penuriosus defero". I think we all need to spend a little less time listening to the glitz and spend more time studying who it is we are putting into places of power that has so much impact on us. I sure wish a new party would start up that has members with no ties to big business, but has qualified people in it that aren't socialists or right winged. The Liberals are more socialist than at any time before. Funny how members of the NDP have found it a comfortable place to join. We really need a party that speaks for the middle of the road, yet doesn't want to steal from us. I continue to dream for a day that occurs.
  10. You get what you give and she gave a lot. In my opinion she started the fight and wasn't political enough to fight off the conservative hail of bullets. Fact is folks, Belinda knows the next election would turn real ugly for her. She's as popular as a male in a lesbian party at this point in her political career. The auto sale has nothing to do with her departure. It's just her Daddy rescueing her again. Spoiled little rich girl needs a new job and Daddy got her one. Anyone thinking anything else is no way off track.
  11. I can't find anything she's done that can be said as positive. All her headline have been about failed relationships and naughty sex with a not so famous NHL player. If people think she's done something outstanding and deserves to stand beside people like PM Kim Campbell, I have to disagree. If it wasn't for her Daddy's money and direction, she'd still be having affairs with other executives at Magna International. All politics did for her was bring forward her inability to remain faithful to any one male she had a relationship with. I really hope she stays out of politics for good.
  12. The little rich girl must have got bored of the political life. All this proves is that the rumours of her being a spoiled child are right. She couldn't chose a party to belong to. She couldn't chose a partner. She couldn't even keep her paws off a married man. This woman has the word "tramp" written all over her face. I think she left because she saw the death of the liberal party come next election and God only knows she can't be associated with lossing an election. Now all the Liberal Party needs if for Dion to leave and then perhaps some form of credibility can return to the party before they are totally dissolved.
  13. Considering the uapologetic outrageousness of most everything Steve's government does, that's not so surprising. Absolutely. Imagine that, accountability and answering for mishandling of society's funds. Damn those Conservatives to hell! I suppose you enjoyed watching the Liberals stuff money into personal bank accounts belonging to long time liberal friendly companies? I don't know about you, but I work hard for my money and knowing the "New" government wants people to answer for illegal activities makes me more comfortable, and willing, to part with tax dollars. If you want to let the government continue to steal from your working dollars, please by all means vote for the Liberals, but don't get too upset when they become a very small part of the next election results. I feel a majority coming on for the Harper government.
  14. I know a woman who runs all the time. She looks great for a person who spends a great deal of time healing up from knee surgeries and having treatments for her breast cancer. She also has herpes and loves to sleep with strange boys in the nighclubs. She has far more health issues than the guy across the street from me who is carry sixy pounds more than he should. I think the medical system should have a user fee attached to everyone who uses it like my union dental plan has for those of us that use it. I think people would be less likely to clog the ER with scraped knees and colds if it meant a long wait and a $35 user fee.
  15. I hardly think not being in the military makes you any less respected. The life of the military member is one that requires dedication to no one but the uniform. Sometimes being a civilian and supporting that person in uniform us just as important. I respect both the person who wears and the person who supports. Its the ones that preach peace and call those in uniform babykillers that I have no respect for. Just don't be afraid to tell one of them you are supporting them. And by the way, you don't have to agree with the war, you just have to respect that the people in uniform that are doing the job the people hated them most sent them on. Incase you weren't paying attention, it was the Liberals that started this mess. The Conservatives are the ones that are going to help the boys and girls finish it.
  16. I think what everyone over looked is the obvious use of the term "Radical Natives". Gustafson Lake was the perfect example of why they should be listed with other terror organizations. Anyone, including natives, that pose a threat to this country, and its people, should be eliminated at first oppertunity regardless of the reasoning they give. Also consider that there were a few white Canadians at the Gustafson Lake stand-off. Interesting thought here. Since land doesn't belong to the natives, but to "Mother Earth". Any native that raises a weapon and threatens this country is doing so against what is logical to their heritage. Since the natives don't believe in ownership of land by the traditional sense, any fight for land is infact a fight by "white" rules and that would mean that "Radical Natives" could be considered an organization bent on terrorist acts by majority law. Gustafson Lake was an act of terror by militant action. I support protesting, but I don't think assualting people, or threatening them with harm is protesting. Anyone who protests and then esculates it to criminal behavior deserves anything they get, including death. This radical kind of behavior is carried out to cause terror. All the army manual is suggesting is that Radical behavior by natives can be considered terrorism and be listed as a Terrorist Action and those creating this action considered terrorists. Fat Freddie
