Very astute buffy. Beer and hockey. Thanks so much for the insight. -
MYANMAR/BURMA: Riot Police Set Upon Protesting Monks
ScottSA replied to jennie's topic in The Rest of the World
Yes, the Tibetan issue is usually dealt with by a few granola crunchers bravely attaching "Free Tibet" bumper stickers to their minivans and smoking a self-satisfied joint. The Palestinian issue, however, is responsible for the global Jihad, even when schoolgirls get their heads lopped off in Pakistan by Islamic thugs who in all probability have never heard of Israel except for abstract thundering from the local mosque about pigs n' apes. Bit of a hypocrisy, eh wot? -

We pay while Indians live in luxury
ScottSA replied to geoffrey's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
This thread is a howl! Posit, you have just proven the falsity of your case. The fact is that the merits of my application to the US are based on many things, but not on race. The merits of my application to the Iroquois "nation" are based on race. You know it and I know it and so does the Iroquois "nation." Otherwise hordes of trailertrash would be applying because of the additional beer and cigarette money available through wergeld "treaty rights". -
Apology accepted.

We pay while Indians live in luxury
ScottSA replied to geoffrey's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Right, oh Troothar. Now then, are you telling me that I can simply renounce my Canadian citizenship and join a tribe just like that, in spite of my ruddy Scots complexsion or any trace of Indian blood, be alotted all the perks of tribehood, and blissfully partake in the ongoing snivelfest? -

So I can renounce my Canadian status, stop paying income tax, and start picking up cashola for past wrongs? Far out. We should all become iroquiois! Damned boarding schools anyway. They cut my head off, y'know, and the Great Spirit had to sew it back on again. -

Poor Posit. One of those people who would rather get backed into a corner and hammered rather than just say "oops" I was wrong. I guess we can all go outside and shout "Ich bin ein Indian" and commence smuggling cigarettes now. -
I see this as a metaphor for CAIR and the supposedly "moderate" Muslim organizations who think, with some justification, that the west is soft enough to push around in perpetuity. Sure, there are a great number of useful fools willing to buy into the "Islamophobia" meme and rush to the defence of enemies of the state, but even they will eventually have their eyes opened. The alleged "moderates" who nonetheless openly claim to be working toward the Islamification of the west will sooner or later push to far and get sucker punched so hard they won't know what hit them. They are miscalculating, as I think Arar is doing in this case. The Little Snivel on the Prairies will come to an end.

Interview with Evo Morales, peasant leader and accused terrorist
ScottSA replied to jennie's topic in The Rest of the World
The meaningless perennial pan-excuse for killing. Hitler was only defending the volk against the Jew, Roosevelt was defending motherhood and apple pie, bin Laden was defending the ummah against the Great Satan, Bush is defending freedom, and on and on it goes. It's a meaningless marketing pap phrase used to fluff up text. Certainly not one to bold and point at saying "see?" -
I suppose you're angry that you can't call people bigots anymore too?

Clearly you were trying to evoke Nazi Germany. The "soldiers in the streets" ad was "true" too, in the strictest sense, in that a revived military with more bases would put soldiers in the streets of towns they would otherwise not have been in, but are you seriously suggesting that the intent of the ad was to convey information that the Cons were going to beef up the CF? You know very well why you cast it in a sinister light by the use of the title...you know it, I know it, and obviously everyone else knows it, so why are you trying to pretend anything else? You claim to be a writer, and if you're a halfway decent writer you know all about evocative wordplay. Stop playing dumb.

No, what he said is that God told him to deny it. Not that God told him to do whatever crime he is accused of. You don't see the difference?

Maybe it's the just plain dumb thing. Moxie said: "What countries currently practice slavery? Saudia Arabia, the Sudan, the Horn of Africa. What do they all have in common? Even in Canada we've prosecuted immigrants for holding domestic workers as slaves...." You seriously don't understand the nuance there? Why do you think she specified "immigrants" in a sentence following a denotation of several Islamic countries? Why didn't she say "Even in Canada we've prosecuted people for...?" In other words (I'm embarrassed to have to spell it out for you, really), even when they come to Canada, Muslims continue to practise slavery. When canada catches them, it prosecutes them. I suppose Moxie assumed that most people would take it for granted that Canada would prosecute slave holders, so didn't feel the need to pander to Michaelian brainfarts. Obviously your brain hit a bump somewhere in that passage, dropped into neutral, whereupon you decided the reason you weren't going forward was the composition of the road rather than a defect in your head. Her sentence is quite clear Mikey.

"I'm" is a present tense conjunction. "I am." Therefore, my claim refers to the immediate tense, as in this...oh fine...whatever.

We pay while Indians live in luxury
ScottSA replied to geoffrey's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
That's silly. If I own a piece of land, Scotland has no claim to it whatsoever, in spite of whatever racial ties I may have to Scotland. No one addressed the question because it's so stupid that I imagine they were trying to spare FN's feelings by ignoring it. -
Actually, while it's a great and timeless piece of rhetoric, it comes from a time when the standards of English were far higher than they are now. Any literate person of the day was classically trained, learned in narrow depth rather than broad shallowness as we are today, and commanded an English vernacular far superior to ours. Shakespeare, in a different era, wrote magnificent prose, but not so far off the standard of the time either. English of the day still held traces of Chaucer's melodic middle English...probably the most beautiful stage in the evolution of English.

Perhaps the next thread Dobbin starts will be something along the lines of "Conservatives make plans to put soldiers in the streets. Really. I'm not making this up." Oh wait, been there, done that, and I'm still waiting for the soldiers. I hope there's room for them now that we have the trucks and trains running to secret "camps" in the North Woods.

After years of listening to limpid milquetoast coming from you, I've never been able to figure out whether you're intentionally obtuse or just plain dumb.

Blackwater USA under the wing of White House
ScottSA replied to RileyST's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Not at all. The incident is documented, but none of the innuendo is documented. Don't you know the basic rules of agitprop? Take a true occurence and build into it all sorts of crap to cast doubt. Clearly it worked on you, as it will on the usual crowd of none too intelligent self-haters. Yeesh. My great grandmother's friend knew Hitler's aide's wife's friend. Aha! A sinister connection to Hitler! Ask Greg. I bet the IP is either untraceable or from Michigan. -
That is absolutely correct...the supply and tech tail is horrendous, and no way do we have the facilities to maintain it...unless of course we come hat in hand to Norfolk. However, if we fill them with cement and place them on the ice in the arctic with big "caution nuclear warhead" signs pasted all over them, no one will dare invade.

Then he obviously thinks he's innocent, which casts a completely different light on it, right?

The Feminizing of Western Civilization
ScottSA replied to August1991's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
If I may, I believe you are misusing the phrase "feminizing of society." You make wondrous points, but they don't belong attached to that phrase. -
I didn't realize that was one of the reasons for the address. I always saw it as just a brilliant piece of rhetoric. Thanks.
