What true colours are you talking about? One in ten means nine don't, unlike the so called insurgents who ALL mistreat murder and destroy as an aim not as a by-product. Do you expect western soldiers to be more moral and gentle than others for some reason? How unfair the world is when you shoot at a western soldier and they shoot back. Less then half would report a team member--when was the last time YOU reported someone at work for wrong-doing? And torture--how far would YOU go to save a family or friends life? Stop being so superior without understanding the problems or situations, if you haven't walked a mile in the shoes don't comment on the trip.............

As I understand the American democratic system it owes a great deal to the Iroquois nation and its own constitution. http://www.indigenouspeople.net/iroqcon.htm Iroquois Constitution http://www.ratical.org/many_worlds/6Nations/ The Six Nations: Oldest Living Participatory Democracy on Earth My first idea when posting this was that democracy has been diminished in modern times and peoples rights have been taken away. In the UK there are now 266 ways the government can enter a house. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/arti...in_page_id=1770 266 excuses the Government has to raid your home | the Daily Mail Is it the threats that are being used to divert attention from over zealous government actions, and how far will people let this continue till enough is enough. Are these limitations on freedom taking away that freedom itself so are in reality more of a threat than the percieved threats we are being saved from? I think it has reached a point where our own lives are being taken away by our own governments, and what a government takes away it doesn't like giving back........

BBCIs this true? Fry was talking about the "BBC" newsreader voice heard not that long ago. Most Brits have a local accent that can be different five miles apart. Manchester and Liverpool are 26 miles apart and sound totally different, add Newcastle to the mix and then cockney London, all completely original sounds and slang. The way you speak doesn't give away how smart or not you are....

Should rich prisoners pay their keep?
jester replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Yes, I am. Right now, victims get nothing and "rich" convicts get to keep their money. How could my proposal be worse than what we have now????? Go back and read my original post #23 above. I am saying that the convict be sentence to two terms: one time period for his Crime Against Society and one time period for violating a victim's rights. If the convict refuses to compensate his victim to his victim's choosing, the convict goes to jail for more time. I suspect you do not grasp this salient point: the victim holds the trump card in my proposed negotiation. Your only concrete objection that you had was a situation whereby a victim can not be identified to negotiate. That is not a problem at all because the convict would have to do both terms. End of story. No negotiation. What crimes would you limit it to,or would it apply for any crime? Say I'm rich and have you bumped off-could I negotiate with your family for how much you are worth to them, what about financial scams- how will you find the money or all the victims? This is an idea from Saudi where you can pay the victims a payment and have your sentence lowered or cancelled, the rich never get time in prison but buy their way out...not very fair and open for abuse, it's simply cash for crime-you pay you go free..... -
A bit contradictory there. Nobody goes to work willingly they go to work because they have to. The conditions of that work is the responsibility of the factory not the worker so if you own stocks how responsible is your portfolio? http://www.usatoday.com/money/world/2005-0...ina-cover_x.htm USATODAY.com - Pollution poisons China's progress

I always thought that Europe was part of the West. Has the term changed so that the west consists of only Canada and the USA now? In that case then everywhere else must be a threat. So what would happen if the rest of the world deciced that they no longer wished to do business with the NEW WEST-no buying or selling raw materials or products? Who would lose out there, I imagine that this new west needs the rest of the world more than the rest of the world needs the new west.......

I do not see that to be true. Economic activity is emotionless. There is no "exploit" to economic activity in its pureist form which is what globalization represents. What is sad is the lost dreams many in the west are experiencing because of the sea of people China represents. Their good jobs, and lifestyle they had grown to expect may not be available because of the Asian invasion. Globalization is not economic activity in it's purest form, it is simply profit maximisation before everything else. The Asians haven't invaded, the wests companies have invaded them in search of cheaper workers so as to increase profits. I have never read anywhere that asians have taken over a factory and demanded lower wages .

How far should drug treatment be allowed to go............. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/arti...in_page_id=1770 Plan to vaccinate babies against drugs | the Daily Mail

I take that your religious leaders aren't sure of the faith of the followers then. If Islam is that good why do they care what other religions are doing?
-
When you refuse medical treatment on religious grounds I would say you are sacrifising your children for your Gods will. You may not call it human sacrifice but that's what it is.
-
If the parents decision is harmfull to the child I would say no. Would you allow a religion that had human sacrifice as a requirement ?
-
So would this count as government intervention or as a benefit for society. If you refused are you harming your child in the future......... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/arti...in_page_id=1770 Plan to vaccinate babies against drugs | the Daily Mail

True but then a house is a long term investment. I wouldn't buy in a boom unless you plan on staying after the boom goes bust.
