I also prefer people who don't lie and say he hasn't had any. With that said, a minor mistake is fine. When you basically insult the entire Baltic region saying that they don't exist or don't matter....well....I would prefer a scripted answer at that point.

Justin Trudeau and the USA Relations
Accountability Now replied to Big Guy's topic in Canada / United States Relations
Do you honestly think the US president knows/cares what the leader of the opposition had to say about the Iraq war. More importantly, do you think the people of the United States, who are watching this dinner as some sort of celebrity fest, would care what he said. Canada was not like by the US due to us 'officially' backing out of the war. You wanted an answer as to why Harper wasn't invited and I gave it. Sure...whatever you say. 1. As you state, they called this a state dinner but it was really an official dinner. So basically they fed the US entourage while attending a working visit. The purpose of the visit was not a dinner. 2. The media circus surrounding this recent dinner had everything to do with the US state dinners, not Canadian ones. More over, the honour of being invited and the lack of honour from not being invited as if its some sort of huge deal. We haven't been invited since 1997 as though its such a big deal when the reality is that 6 out of 7 dinners have shown a partisan connection which shows credibility to the point that these dinners are not an objecitve way at looking at how the Canada US relationship is doing. -
I did read the question of yours that I quoted. I also read the quoted statement from Sunny Ways regarding Trudeau is better when staying on script. Your point then as it continues to be is that Trudeau hasn't gaffed much since being in office. I have shown you one of his clearest gaffes, one that brought about international responses and yet you still continue to gloss over it. Do you honestly not see his Baltic answer as a gaffe? These guys do. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLtodM4Gzq8

You didn't even get the text right though. So back to Trudeau not making any impromtu gaffes?

Canada joined in the Iraq war? http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2013/03/19/canada-iraq-war_n_2902305.html I know you used to care about Harper but we know how that the ol' bandwagon works. Citation request. -
You should put your listening ears on a little better. The exact question was : Favourite Baltic Nation. His response was not a question as you state (Is that a thing?). His response was "That's not a thing". I am getting my story from Macleans. http://www.macleans.ca/politics/ottawa/explaining-justin-trudeaus-60-second-challenge/ The better question is...where are you getting your story from???

Harper was running for office when Bush was throwing two of his three state dinners. The other dinner had the Queen of England and was the first state dinner in four years. Obviously Bush was still pissed at Canada for not joining in Iraq. Any other questions? -
Yes...that was the story you were fed and apparently believed

More like his Baltic state not being a thing....

6 out of 7 still shows a large tenancy to a partisan relationship. That's all I was trying to show. I don't know the circumstances as to why Nixon invited Trudeau but as per the article, their relationship was 'frosty' at best. -

Yes...Nixon was a Republican. That is correct. However, King was a Liberal and Truman was a Democrat. So out of 7, there is only one that doesn't match. So what were you saying about my theory? -

Peter Lougheed was in office until 1985. Is it possible that anything changed from 2006 since the time he left office? I'll give you a hint....it has something to do with competition. -

I voted for Chretien and Martin in past elections. I voted for Harper in the more recent ones as I started to align myself with more Conservative beliefs however that wouldn't have stopped me for voting Liberal if they put someone in that I felt was vote worthy. My only issue with Trudeau is that he was elected into the highest seat in office without having done anything. If his name wasn't Trudeau, he wouldn't be there. 100% agreed Objectively speaking, JT has provided a different approach to politics with his personality. I liked when he quieted his crowd to let the journalist ask him a question that he knew was scathing. I also liked how he went to the subway station to shake peoples hands after he was elected. He certainly is on the level with the average Canadian....and that's a good thing and a bad thing. I like that he's approachable but I'm scared of what he has to offer beyond that. So far its been a lot of beating around the bush and trying to please everyone. Ultimately a good leader is going to have people who don't like him or her simply because they are making decisions. -

Or was it simply a case of timing? In the history of the State Dinners (or as far as I can see), no Conservative has ever gone to Democratic State Dinner and conversely, no Liberal has ever gone to a Republican Dinner. Here's the list from this article (http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/state-dinner-a-sign-of-warm-relations-between-trudeau-obama/article29040635/) 2016 - Trueau Jr and Obama 1997 - Cretien and Clinton 1986 - Mulroney and Regan 1977 Trudeau and Carter 1969 - Trudeau and Nixon 1960 - Diefenbaker and Eisenhower 1945 - Mackenzie King and Truman Lefties stick with lefties and righties stick with righties. Harper could have tried all he wanted but the odds were stacked against him. -

The claim was made that Solar could replace oil in 14 years. Clearly you didn't provide examples of solar nor did you show any proof that these alternative forms will overtake oil in 14 years. -

How about the ol' Portland Montreal pipeline that pumps oil right under the St. Lawrence river? http://www.pmpl.com/ Or how about Line 9 and its soon reversal https://www.neb-one.gc.ca/pplctnflng/mjrpp/ln9brvrsl/index-eng.html -

Emulsion is not dilbit. It has 1/3 bitumen and the rest is sand and steam. Dilbit is usually 50-70% bitumen and the rest Natural Gas or Synthetic Crude. You can't compare the two spills as an apple to apple comparison, especially since the claim made and the claim being refuted is 'when these spills don't take more than 5 years to clean, then I'll be ok with them". This spill happened in July 2015 and according to the Nexen site, they are 82% done. As discussed in other threads....if you are simply against oil then I don't have much to say to you. If you agree that oil is needed and therefore we must move it either by train or pipeline then that is a discussion I'm willing to have. -

Not just the new cars but the excitement over the LNG industry that apparently is 'different' from what those guys in 'Berta do. I thought this article was really interesting as it puts recent events as well as recent conversations about economic diversity into perspective. http://www.bnn.ca/News/2016/2/10/BC-blasts-Alberta-but-may-regret-LNG-bet-.aspx There were points that I made earlier in this thread but I'm just glad to them repeated here. Of course the interesting part is how the 'holier than thou' people in BC have no problem slamming Alberta for its oil/gas industry yet they are making the same bets on their LNG. -

This is your opinion and have nothing to back it up other than other opinions from similar fringe places like Rabble. Again, the NEB fully investigated the whistle blower's concerns and found nothing. Too bad for the ol' whiste blower I guess because much like your debating tactics, his argument lacked a little thing called 'substance'. Afraid you're right? No...I'm afraid that rabid, fringe extremists like yourself actually get in the way of proper decision making. A decision that not only affects proper decisions about technology/advancements but also affects our economy. At any point that you want to bring a rational discussion into the picture then I'm game, however so far all I have heard you talk about is YOUR fears about Alberta crude. You came close to a reasonable argument by saying that Alberta should refine it here however you opted instead for conspiracy theories and tin foil hat assessments. If you have followed any of my past posts you would realize that my personal stake in this game benefits if oil does stay low. I own a company that incurs 'oil field' costs even though I do little to no work in Alberta nor do I do any work in the oil field. As such it would help me personally if wages, materials and overall costs decreased. Having said that, I am not a selfish, inconsiderate person. I fully realize that the economy of Alberta AND the economy of Canada greatly depends on oil and therefore I do want it to get to a sustainable level once again. Again, you sit in BC where you like to sit on your pedestal and proclaim this is how its done. Having said that, anything outside of the Southwest BC is hurting as much as Alberta largely due to real estate. http://thetyee.ca/News/2016/03/01/BC-Not-So-Sunny-Economy/ -

23 examples over a 50 year span, most of which are minor spills. As the discussion went....show me something on the level of the Kalamazoo spill. The statement that was made was in regards to having a clean up take over 5 years. The worst of these examples you've shown had similar volume spilled but it was cleaned up in a month and of course was not dilbit. On a related note, the company that had that spill (Plains Midstream) is now under serious review by the NEB, as they should be. Again...the Kalamazoo example was unique and should not be seen as the norm, especially considering the number of small spills your source cites versus the billions of gallons that flow annually through these pipelines. -

Because that is all that really needs to be determined. Your extreme fringe belief that we can live in a world without oil is just that....fringe. The vast majority of people understand that we live in a world of oil and therefore the only rational and reasonable question to ask is where do we get the oil from. A resounding number of people in this poll stated Western Canada. If you want to continue your ad hominen attacks on the legitimacy of the Montreal Economic Institute or on Leger then I suggest you take them elsewhere as you're wasting your time spewing your ignorance on me. Whaaaaaat? Just a few posts back you used the NEB audit showing 4 out 9 to be your game changer.....your shining point. Now they are toothless? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! That is priceless. You question the credibility of Leger and MEI but yet can't get your own sources straight. I question YOUR credibility. I really don't think debating is for you. I mean most people back their points up with facts that help their cause. You just continually refute your own points with every sentence you speak. Again, I can't waste my time participating in your tin foil hat conspiracy theories. -

Its not my poll. It was done by Leger....do you know who they are? Oh facepalm. Do I seriously need to hold your hand through this whole process. The poll was commissioned by the Montreal Economic Institute....did you possibly think to look there? Here....since you seem to have troubles with this. http://www.iedm.org/files/sondage0216_en.pdf Exactly....it doesn't take much to see that a majority of Quebec wants Western Oil. -

From just a logical point, they wouldn't say it unless they are leaning that way, however from a point of semantics you are correct. With that said, the most recent article I posted above should remove all concerns you may have. Specifically, this:
