I see he's quoted as saying that in the article but I don't hear him say that in the video. I could have missed it and/or he said it after the video. I don't think he was there to physically fight anyone. He really didn't put up much of an argument once they started arguing. Anyone looking for a fight would have provoked it much more. Just my opinion

There were two separate incidents (one with the lady driving through the blockade and the other with the coutner-protester). The G&M article address both but really does gloss over the details. The bias that I see is that they interview the IDM protesters to ask about this guy so which way is that going to push the argument? I don't feel the person writing the article has a bias by what they say but perhaps by who they chose to interview. They should have interviewed 'Steve' (the counter protester) or another non-IDM to balance the approach. If you watch the video, the guy doesn't say anything wrong and doesn't get heated....he's just a guy trying to say his opinion. If I were him I would have brought up the fact that their band isn't even federally recongnized and that treaties were signed with the recognized bands to surrender these lands years ago. But that's just me.

I wouldn't necessarily put the police inaction in the same boat as Harpers government. They would be doing the same thing if the Liberals of NDP were in power. You are right though....we need to remember all of this come election time as our leaders need to represent the majority.

That band of natives isn't even federally recognized. They're fighting a totally different cause and using IDM to do it. Again another sign of no clear message from this group. I guess if you have a grievance with the white man...now is the time to bring it up!

I would sure hope Texas has our back. There is 20,000 US jobs at stake. It doesn't really mattress the Gateway pipeline will send the rest to China if the US doesn't want the work.

Idle No More doesn't align themselves with the Cheifs or with Spence. They have come right out and said it. Its kind of funny actually because the Cheifs and Spence keep saying they are doing this to support INM but they're support is not welcome.

Whether we could have sent troops or not is far from the point. Canada didn't endorse the Americans going and that pissed you guys off because ol' Bush thought he could dicate what we do. As per my previous thread, I questioned your comment on "other provinces inflating the price of the dollar" and how absurd that is. Do you honestly think the brain trust in Alberta or any other province can manipulate the national currency considering all the other global factors out there?

Like I said its a very superficial hate! Maybe I shouldn't even use the word hate. It's more annoyance that the US doesnt know much about Canada the same way Ontario doesn't know much about the west. Holy crap. This is insane. So many half truths all based on emotion! Wow! I'll start by saying that I'm from Alberta but I am Canadian first. I have no problems with giving what we give because there will come a time when we will need to take. I fully understand that part. I believe we are part of a team and that its the team that matters. With that being said when a part of your team continues to bring the team down then you should have the right to call them out on it. As is the case called Quebec (and Native reserves). I believe accountability to the team is the most important thing (hence my screen name). So many past posts that caught my eye: - The East developed the west. Very true but keep in mind it was eastern people that came here to do so. As such us westerners are eastern decendants. So I'm not sure about the bashing on that - Alberta steals labour from other provinces. If we didn't put them to work then guess who'd be paying for the EI? Our company has trained numerous guys here so they could get their tickets just to see them go back home. These people use Alberta just as much as Alberta uses them. Which is fine because it all helps the team. - most dissention from the west is because our lack of voice in parliament. Ontario and Quebec can vote and the rest of Canada has to listen. I fully understand why this is but it still creates a sense of hopelessness. - Ontario is home to our capital and our major media base. As such we often hear about Ontario but not much news goes back that way except for oil sands talk. It's much like how we hate Americans for knowing nothing about Canadians. Ultimately I'm embarrassed when anyone wants Canada to separate whether it Alberta or Quebec. Having said that, I can say with most certainty that westguy does not speak for the majority of Albertans about separatism. We may respond that way when we hear the yokels in Quebec talking that way but there is no way we would ever support a Separtist party. I think we actually have one and it gets next to no votes. I have travelled to most provinces and have both business and personal relationships with people there. I can comfortably say we are all better as one Canada! Canada was developed by the English, French and Natives all joining forces to protect and better our land. My only wish is that we could get that sense of team back in this modern day. Canada first. End of story.

Not sure I agree with any of these but its like you said....it needs more indepth research. Not to sound like a broken record but again they talk about their land. Are they saying that $500 billion dollars is produced from the reserves? Any other land is not their land as they signed it way in the treaties. Or did they forget? Myth 1 is a bit sketchy too as we already know about some cheifs salaries.

The bottom line is that if the brain trust in Alberta could be so cunning to manipulate the dollar then why are they forecasting a deficit this year? You did raise a number of good points which I agree with but please continue to argue that way. I hate seeing people argue on rhetoric.

WIP...have you ever left Ontario? Do you realize there is a global economy dicating things here which doesn't really care whether Alberta or Ontario profit? More importantly, have you heard of a group called OPEC who tend to control oil prices. As much as anyone would like to believe that Alberta could control the dollar....it just can't. There are other provinces who have oil and choose not to develop it just yet. Take Saskatchewan for instance. They have similar amounts if not more oil than Alberta but their socialist goverments have not wanted to go in that direction. Newfoundland is a great example of a have not province that has turned things around for themselves. The other reality here is that everything happens in waves. Alberta will go through tough times when oil tanks and Ontario will rebound and be a have province soon enough. That is the sole reason for equalizaiton.
