  1. Another falsehood. Income trusts were an anomoly unique to Canada, they had to go. They need to reduce the corporate income tax, yes. I'm sure that they will soon. Watch Layton be all up in arms when they try to cut corporate taxes. Anyways, BCE, even private will still pay federal and provincial tax. Also, it is a democratic sale. One vote per share, of the majority don't like it, it won't happen. Also, Garth's mother ( your faulty quoting made it look like he was you) could have invested the profits to other companies that paid dividends. You are clearly demonstrating your ignorance for all to see. Carry on
  2. What utter nonsense! Shares in BCE were hovering at around $29.00 for about 3 years. When the acquisition talk started to hear up, the stock went up to almost $40. Your mother would have made alot of money. The reason Bell was bought out was because of the poor poor performance of it's stock - due mainly to having a poor market share of the wireless division. You should really do some research on what it is you are talking about if you don't want to appear foolish. My apologies if it was your intent to be so.
  3. No. All of these 'spendings' can only occur upon "approved government" permission granted. All your 'after market' products must conform to government regulation. If that product isn't government regulation approved, you can't spend money on it (legally, anyways). In other words, the reason we have (or do not have) a free market in healthcare has NOTHING to do with your own theoretical sovereignity as a consumer. As a consumer, you are NOT sovereign. Claiming such non-existent sovereignty for healthcare, when one is non-sovereign in most other aspects is not a pursuasive argument. There are indeed many good arguments for permitting private market healthcare options in Canada. The one given here is not one of them. Consumers are not sovereign. Almost all services and products are regulated by governments. Healthcare is no exception. oh man.. Your analagy is SO weak. The CSA (Canadian Standards association) says that you can sell toilets in Canada if they meet certain safety standards. They DO NOT say you can only get the government toilet that the government manufactuted. You are a smart guy, I KNOW you can figure out the difference here. Regulation limits choice, it does not ELIMINATE choice.
  4. Hey I thought you lived in North Bay, its only 5:19 He's serving our country in Afghanistan.
  5. Hmm... I missed this earlier. So you want to take over for ScottSA eh? Duly noted. I didn't call you dumb, I called your weak analogy dumb, which it was.
  6. Wow. Such a pile of BS in two paragraphs I have not seen in some time. So, government should consult 'inner city healers' to shape policy? Did someone spike your weed on June 9th?
  7. Why do you think a lower value American dollar would be so bad for the American economy? Also, fyi - the Chinese peg their dollar to the American dollar. They keep it artificially low so their products are artificially cheap compared to what they would be if they let their currency float on the open market. American has a net trade deficit. A lower Dollar would make exports cheaper (and thereby increase American exports) and make imports more expensive (thereby reducing imports). All in all, a lower dollar would be a very good thing for the American economy.
  8. No, I'm critiquing the argument used to launch the thread. He wasn't talking about standards. He was talking about wanting to have the ability to pay for healthcare if he so chooses should th epublic system be found wanting. The Quebes SC agrees with him too btw. You can't force someone to die based on ideaology.
  9. Just for fun... You actually cannot spend your own money on your own car according to your own whims. That is illegal. You may only purchase cars that meet government regulations for safety, environment and whatnot. You actually cannot spend your own money on your own kid's education unless the education you propose to purchase meets government regulations for educational criteria and whatnot. You cannot spend your won money on your own houses unless the improvements you propose meet with government regulations for home renovations safety, environment, fire code, etc. So, how or why should healthcare be any different? Sorry, but this is a dumb comparison. Firstly, private practices in Canada have to conform to government regulations, and they should, so there goes your analagy. The government does not own and operate a car manufacturer let alone force us to buy from only the one they operate, even if they did - which they don;t. You get the point I presume? You are talking about standards. No one else is.
  10. Wow. you have never met an illogical argument that you love to be on the wrong side of have you? You are in business? haha Then from your logic we have a 245 tier system! (there are 245 countries in the world). If you go to New Guinea for treatment does that mean Canada has a two-tier system? Come on now -- surely you understand... er, maybe not -- with your grade 8 education it must be difficult to wrap your brain around this very convoluted subject. con-vo-lu-ted -- a big word. Sorry Scott -- it means complex. No, no. not a building complex like your grandma's condo! Complex as in complicated. You can't even keep track of who you are talking to! LOL. I think I may work with you.. Are you in sales? Why can't we have private health care parallel with the public one if you have no problems with someone going to another country to pay for health care. Why not have all those tax dollars stay here? Can you have just ONE consistency in yoru debating? just once?
  11. My, what a large paintbrush you have.
  12. how do you define crime? speeding ticket as a crime? I don't think so. If we are talking about crimes that you could get jailed for, I would guess that 10% of the population commits about 90% of the crime. That is if you believe in the Bell curve.
  13. Wow. you have never met an illogical argument that you love to be on the wrong side of have you? You are in business? haha
  14. You can't put it more clearly. Or be more wrong. You should meet my Jewish atheist friends. According to you, they don't exist. hahahahaha
  15. I believe that people can believe whatever they want and have no obsession in anyone else seeing reality the way that I do. And I only expect the same courtesy returned.
  16. Jesus Dobbin.. Your pathetic whining has ruined another thread. congratulations.
  17. I think you are the one who is ignoring the facts. The fact is, regardless of how YOU want to view Jewish people they are "jewish" due to the religion they or their ancestors followed. Not true. There are Jewish Asians and there are also Jewish Buddhists. Get it yet? Come on now, I have faith.
  18. Tony Blair was ok. Gordon Brown will be a DISASTER watch.
  19. Your opinion of wether war is just or not would probably be taken more seriously if you only had your basic facts correct about WW2....
  20. Uhhhh.... The allies joined WW2 in 1939... Germany and SU did not start to fight until after this... ergo, your tripe is just that, tripe. This doesn't make any sense and is just plain wrong. The Allies were fighting the fight before Germany and the SU even started fighting. You shouldn't talk about stuff you have clearly have no clue about unless you enjoy looking like a fool? actually you shouldn;t talk because you look a fool. By the allies, I am including the US, by the time the US got to Europe, get a map and look at how much Russia had advanced, they were stopped in Germany , on there way through. Ergo, Russia was kicking butt, and all of Europe was going to fall to the communists. go read a book or ten! hahahaha!!! OH MY GOD. such WILLFULL ignorance. The USA joined on Dec 7 1941 against Japan and a week later against Germany after Germany decalred war. The German's were kicking russian ass well up into 1943. Do you care to embarass yourself further? I find it quite enjoyable myself.
  21. A silly silly thing to do. Juries defend everyone's freedoms. You need to think this through.
  22. LMAO Whatever dude. So I can be Jewish without being Jewish? And I can also be Jewish without being Jewish? Does this actually make sense to you? So the Jews of the Holocaust were killed for being Jewish, not for being Jewish? Hahaha Thanks I needed a good laugh. Funny that you find facts so humorous. Maybe if you had a closer relationship with them you would learn to just view facts as facts and not find them so 'funny'.
  23. Uhhhh.... The allies joined WW2 in 1939... Germany and SU did not start to fight until after this... ergo, your tripe is just that, tripe. This doesn't make any sense and is just plain wrong.
