a tale of two cities: calgary and edmonton

Dude, why the hangup about the tower? The tower is ugly. It constantly reminds everyone of 1970's decor. -

Obviosuly I was speaking about Metro population. Where a municipal boundry is, is of no importance when you are talking about 'Calgary' or 'Vancouver'. The link I sent you had the numbers I posted. Not 21. And if you DO take into account METRO population than Calgary does have more building construction going on per-capita. ie: Vancouver has 2.5 times the population but not 2.5 times the high rise construction. Say what you want about Calgary, but to argue it is not booming is a pretty dumb argument to make. Also, i don't live in Calgary any longer. As well, the Encana building in Calgary will be taller than anything Vancouver has. Facts Jerry - just the facts. -
Is publishing Danish cartoons in Canada a "crime"?
White Doors replied to normanchateau's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
How about a court? I think the justice system should be the one setting precedents, but I guess that's just me. A tribunal cannot set legal precedents. All it can do is 'scope creep' which it has already shown it is very good at. -
Sound like anyone you know?

Jerry, I'm not sure when the last time you were in Calgary was, but I bet you there are more highrises going up (commercial and residential combined) in Calgary right now that there are in Vancouver. If not, it must be close. I'll try and see what I can find. -

holy cow. thanks! Yes, it was the western standard. glad to see you have kept up. So what did he do wrong exacltly? Did he expose someone to hatred? I don't see where unless you are talking about himself. He was exposed to alot of hatred. he certainly didn't discriminate anywhere except by charging for the price of the magazine. I guess that would be discriminatory to the people who could not afford to buy it? -

Your not, but you are close. Please show me how Levant did this. How did publishing those cartoons contravene this? Did he discriminate? I suppose. Not everyone could see the cartoons unless they bought an issue of the Western Standard.. I can see how that would be discrimination.. Did he expose a person or class to hate? Yes, himself. But he isn't asking the tribunal to prosecute himself on behalf of himself. anything else? -
Do you think mafioso family members work hard too?

Canada Puts U.S. on Torture Watch List
White Doors replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
He sold only to Canadians for most of the time and then decided to sell to Americans will full knowledge of the potential repurcussions. I have no sympathy for him. -
Just a wee bit off topic aren't we? Food prices going UP is great! more incentive for the WTO to be able to get rid of world-wide food subsidies which will be the harbinger of less poverty in Africa.

Coast guard funding and funding for the navy, are not either/or propsotions. You seem to be pasisonate about the coast guard. If so, you may try not to minimize the needs of the navy when you hope for additional assets for the coast guard. Afterall, if we don't need a robust navy, why would we need a robust coast guard?

So your plan is to rally daily, habitual pot smokers to action? lol -
I'm no expert but I think the intent of the F22 is to replace the F15 and the F35 to replace the F16 & F18.
-
Good info - thanks. Well then I'm afraid it will be the F-35 then. We didn't sink 500 million into R&D on it to then go and get the Eurofighter. Got any info on the Australian plan? I googled and couldn't find anything specific.

gotcha. Next time you can use 'Port au Basques' or 'Black's harbour' I just moved from Alberta to NB. I am very happy with the decision to move, but I did enjoy my stay in Alberta. -
got to love Wiki! F22 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F-22_Raptor F35 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F-35_Lightning_II
-
As more F22's are produced, their prices will come down. They are primarily an air-air fighter though, so would need the flexibility of the F35 as well I think. 12 F22's and 60-80 F35's would be pretty good I think. edit to add: The F22 and F35's would also share alot of parts.
-
F22 is better than anythign Europe will be putting out.
-
here's hoping they go with the F35 and maybe a squadron of F22's if the US will ever decide to allow it. Not juiced up 40 year old technology.

But you conveniently forget the key point. Maybe you can recall it for me? Were these tribunals set up to deal with cases involving free speech or were they meant to settle cases of discrimination in regards to employment and housing? Thanks - now you can see my perfectly valid point that this 'process' is being wielded as a weapon. -

You need to visit the maritimes apparently Jerry. No fish packing plants in Fredericton. It's no where near the coast.
