When a bahviour is unaccaptable, it is unacceptable. I would rather spend my time on helping the victims than the perpetrators - but that's just me. Some people want to have an excuse for everything - even when there isn't one. If you want to say people are evil and sometimes environemtnal factors can cause them to be evil and do evil things, I think i can agree with that with a few exceptions. But the point is, that is not what you are trying to get at. What you are trying to do is give a reason for the terrorism. You are saying, look they are pissed off. Why are they pissed off? The people that they are killing, randomly, pissed them off. Oh, I get it. The victim did it to themselves then. oh, ok. So not only do you provide an excuse for the action, you are shifting the blame of murder from the perpetrator to the slab of mince-meat in the morgue. You will have to get used to people disagreeing with you on this line of thought. You are not breaking any ground here by the way, this type of thinking has been going on for years. When I was young, it was the Soviets who were sympathised with and we were the evil empire. That's not in vogue anymore (wonder why? if it was the TRVTH you think it would still be fashionable?) By evading and not facing facts, you will have convinced the many voters in Canada who read this site that mandatory minimum sentences are indeed valid and thereby helping Harper achieve his majority so he can sweep to power an unleash the true evil of his agenda. I believe in mandatory minimim sentences and reverse onus parole for all violent crime, not only gun related violent crime. I believe that the recidivism rate is a way too high and it needs to be reduced. If we have to keep cnvicted criminals in jail longer and at more expense to protect the rest of society, I am very very happy to do so. Is that what you mean? Thank you!

Why do you look forward to Iran and Iraq having closer ties? Why do you wish the USA to lose power? You think Iran would be a more benevolent super power? You think Iran would be a responsible Nuclear weapon nation? You don't think the USA would bomb Iran back to the stone age if they ever tried to use a Nuclear weapon on the USA or one of it's allies? I get it in the sense that I see you think the current system in Canada was workign fine. I see.. So you could pull up a statistic, say, % of crimes perpetrated by people on parole? How about, % of parole's who reoffend? Why are you concerned about the relative freedom or lackthereof for criminals? Isn't it the freedom of the law abiding citizen that we should be concerned with? But your 'why's only serve, for you, to show justification. You are trying to use your 'why's to justify the use of terrorism. You can study the 'why's all you want, but that does not excuse it's use or make it a legitimate form of struggle. There are many many ways to put forth a legitimate movement and make it happen as has been demonstrated many, many times in history. Terrorism is one of the worst in terms of obtaining results from a purely rational point of view. It is also THE worst when looking at it from the human cost as well. Ghandi might not be able to teach us everything, but he could teach the Arab terrorsits a thing or two abnout legitimate struggle. That's assuming their struggle is legitimate to begine with and that their struggle is to advance their cause, and not just to destroy another (Israel). get it? They hate the Jews more than they like themselves. There is no dealing with that.

The only reason that people would resort to terrorism is because they think it works. The only time it works is when we have a majority of people who think there are 'root causes' of terrorism. ie: You and your mindset in the western world, is the only reason that terrorism is used against us. Ironic isn't it? If Israel gives in to terrorism, it will beget more terrorism. simple really. You have to make it very clear to the people who advocate terrorism that it is not worth it by killing the people who orchestate it. Unless, of course, you prefer the terrorists win.
