How stupid is our Immigration system?
scribblet replied to Argus's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
More people, more pollution, more farm land paved over for housing etc. etc. immigration should be tied to the economy. 60% of immigrants are economic, 40% are under the family reunification, who likely would not qualify to come in under their own two feet. We need to put that money towards skills and apprenticeship training for people allready here who are unemployed or underemployed. We need to re-open trade shops in schools where the last two years is applied to an apprenticeship term. Increasing immigration by the proposed amount is insane, many economists feel we are heading towards a recession, GM laying off and closing plants, Merk in the States is laying of thousands and closing plant, whats next. Not a good time to increase immigration and money towards it. -
Was the Liberal Party a Criminal Organization?
scribblet replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It is the liberals who lack class when it has been revealed that they plan on running a negative campaign. The liberals are hardly a class act when it comes to getting down and dirty, they are the masters at it. I'm expecting this to the dirtiest campaign yet. The conservative took the high road the last time and it didn't work, they would be wise to get far more agressive this time and not pull any punches. I don't like to say, get down to their level, but if the liberals plan on winning with negative agressive campaigning, then conservatives will have to reply in kind. Liberals have allready started the dirty tricks in Gary Lunn's riding. The riding is getting telephone calls from a telemarketer who claims they are phoning on behalf of Gary Lunn; then partway through the conversation states that Gary does NOT support Harper. The mistake they made was phoning Gary Lunn's house; he got their phone number, is going to call the RCMP and the press... bet the press doesn't mention it. -
I suppose it begs the question, how much is nature and how much is nurture. I've always felt that nature always accounts for the larger percentage, but in this case I don't think race has anything to do with, its more nurture than nature. As a fundamental principle, IQ, is based on a person’s genetic make up, but IMHO the propensity for crime and bad behaviour is largely in part due to family upbringing. or maybe lack of a family upgringing and moral environment. Kids often join gangs because they need to belong, maybe if they had a more loving family environment they wouldn't have that need.

Toronto Gun Violence is "A National Crisis"
scribblet replied to kimmy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It's called the ethnic vote. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Of course it is, there's an election around the corner. and all those criminals have registered their guns of course. -
When are parents and the kids going to take responsibility for their own actions and quit blaming it on everyone else. Mike Harris had nothing to do with it, poor upbringing, lack of values, ethics and integrity have more to do with it. No amount of social programs and basketball courts will prevent actions like this if there is no solid grounding and teaching in the home. Accusations of racism are simply to deflect from the real problem, and the lack of empathy towards the victim is absolutely astounding. " Det. Ling said in an interview before the meeting. "There's no indication there's anything racially motivated about this. This is a girl trying to fit in at a school where there's a lot of students of colour. It's just unfortunate."

Was the Liberal Party a Criminal Organization?
scribblet replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Stephen Harper has refused to make an apology for his "Organized Crime" remark, and rightly so. After all, Gagliano has been connected to the Mafia Bonanno family, and he is the one most closely connected to the Adscam corruption. SH did not say Martin was connected to organized crime--only that the Liberal Party's theft of tax dollars was associated with organized crime; and that is a given with the above statement. I do not think they will carry the threat of a law suit any further as it only emphsizes to the public the rotteness they would rather have fade away. -

How Parizeau-like. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Really, so you don't think its an election ploy, just vote buying - nah Martin wouldn't so such a thing. -
It will probably be the nastiest in history, according to the Globe and Mail last week, The Paul Martin Liberals are planning to run a negative election campaign that will unfold over three phases with most of their advertising budget earmarked for phase three, when they expect most Canadians to be listening.

Toronto Sun editorial: It said everything voters need to know about Prime Minister Paul Martin and the Liberals. Yesterday, in the dying hours of Parliament just before an election is forced on them Monday, they tabled a bill to, wait for it, get tough on gun crime. Of course, it will die on the order paper as soon as Parliament is dissolved -- two days from now. Among other things, the bill proposes increased mandatory minimum sentences for some gun crimes, an idea Justice Minister Irwin Cotler, who introduced the legislation, opposed until just a few weeks ago. Even so, this Liberal bill falls far short of much tougher sentencing provisions proposed by the Conservatives. Besides, everyone knows the Liberals aren't serious about this. ... Bribe us with our own money heading into an election. Rush in last-minute bills that they have no intention of implementing, just so they can pretend to be something they're not. In this case, tough on gun crime. ... The Liberals have pulled stunts like this so many times heading into an election that it's become a national joke

Liberal Promises to Spend Sexy Billions
scribblet replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I posted this in another thread, maybe it should have been here: According to the Ottawa Citizen, $2.6-billion-a-day spending habit this week may have backfired, the federal government was forced to acknowledge yesterday a $200-million error in its recent fiscal update. A tracking of government spending promises by CanWest News Service since Monday shows $13.02 billion in 79 announcements this week. Finance Minister Ralph Goodale said during yesterday's Question Period that the federal government provided only $538 million for climate-change funding in the Canada-Ontario agreement signed in May despite the $738-million figure found in the fiscal update document. A senior Finance official explained the error was created by the "accidental" addition of an extra $200 million in funding for the year 2010-11. Bloc Québécois leader Gilles Duceppe, who brought the error to the House's attention, wondered how many more millions of dollars were overspent during this week's "flood" of spending announcements . -

I agree, immigration should be tied to the economy and available jobs. I too thought we had a skills shortage, now we have to train them anyway? Another 700 millions this week for settlement services or some such thing. This is just a blatent attempt at ethnic vote buying, surely the voters won't be fooled again. -
Promised Liberal Tax Cuts - What will they buy ?
scribblet replied to err's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Those promised liberal tax cuts and their spending spree of late could be a problem. According to the Ottawa Citizen today : $2.6-billion-a-day spending habit this week may have backfired, the federal government was forced to acknowledge yesterday a $200-million error in its recent fiscal update. I don't trust Martin. -
Public Works Makes Hiring White Men Illegal
scribblet replied to tml12's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Rewrite the Charter so that discrimination isn't allowed. The charter currnetly allows for discrimination if it is to rectify past historical wrongs. Equality Rights Equality before and under law and equal protection and benefit of law 15. (1) Every individual is equal before and under the law and has the right to the equal protection and equal benefit of the law without discrimination and, in particular, without discrimination based on race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, sex, age or mental or physical disability. Affirmative action programs (2) Subsection (1) does not preclude any law, program or activity that has as its object the amelioration of conditions of disadvantaged individuals or groups including those that are disadvantaged because of race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, sex, age or mental or physical disability. -
Oh sure, blame it on Mike Harris, next it will be Bush's fault too. How about laying the blame where it really belongs; on those who committed the crime, the lack of moral and ethical values obviously not taught at home. The parents have shown no empathy towards the victim, the first thing out of their mouths is 'racism', then demanding the Principal resign. A sad commentary on the mind set of the families. Shades of Bonfire of the Vanities, I bet Little Johnny was a school star, a stellar wunderkid and all that, watch the stories grow. I saw a report just after this about two students from the same school dying of fumes in the garaged car. The spokesperson for the Board says it was not suicide and not related to the sexual assaults. Has anyone heard anything else about this, it seems to me that there is a bit of a cover up here.

The ugly hate-filled Left
scribblet replied to Montgomery Burns's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Came across this in another forum, think it says it all: http://www.sacredcowburgers.com/fresh/comm...excuses_excuses Bottom line: I've had it with the Leftists screaming that the debacle in New Orleans is Bush's fault. I've also had it with the positively tepid rebuttals from the Republican party. Hell, the cretins in Washington recently went so far as to grant a meeting with the very moonbats who claimed that the mess was not only created by the White House, but perpetuated by Bush's administration like some wild-ass Dr. Evil plan to wipe out blacks. (Way to go, guys...nothing like giving the nutjobs an audience!) I hate it to break it to the rabid moonbats, but the truth is far less sinister...and it is far more frightening. The carnage, insanity and destruction that preceded and followed Hurricane Katrina's landfall was allowed to take root, fester, and spread like a cancer gone mad thanks entirely to the gross and depraved indifference, incompetence and mismanagement of the Democrat mayor of New Orleans and the Democrat governor of Louisiana. The evidence of this incompetence is many, varied and vast. Yet the anti-American Leftists go on blaming Bush for the problems associated with Katrina's aftermath...all the while as they excuse the rapists, murderers and looters of New Orleans as "angry taxpayers." Hell, I'd puke if I wasn't so pissed off. -
I havn't read the whole thread yet so maybe someone else replied. The news agency pulled one of them, but explained that the pictures came from two different sources, hence the different titles, no discrimination was ever intended.

Stephen Harper: Canada's Next Prime Minister?

You are correct that the current bouts of violence in Toronto are black on black, a point which is now beginning to get some attention. The guns are not walking across the border all on their own, they are being brought in, and these are the people we should be blaiming - the perpetrators. I don't see how building more community centres and hoop courts is going to stop a criminal who has no value for life. We should be putting the money from the gun registry into more police officers on the street, while increasing and enforcing sentences for gun crimes. The councillor was slammed for this idea, but something has to be done. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/sto...Story/National/ Bob Runciman also weighed in on it. Ontario’s Public Security Minister, Bob Runciman, came under fire for remarks that he made about the leadership within Toronto’s black community. Speaking about black-on-black violence that has recently plagued the city, Runciman blamed unnamed black leaders for the increasing amount of gun violence. The Minister said that there are leaders in the black community "who don’t accept any degree of responsibility for trying to solve the problem and challenges and misunderstandings. I think some folks here appear to have, in my view, a vested interest in seeing this kind of tension (the tension between the black community and the Toronto police) continue to exist. Some people are making a living off some of this…they certainly don’t seem focused on finding solutions." Needless to say, Runciman’s comments provoked the usual predictable responses. Liberal MPP, Monte Kwinter, whose name connotes excellence in hot dogs rather than politics, went the furthest and called Runciman’s remarks racist. NDP leader, Howard Hampton, expressed his usual outrage (anyone ever notice that Howie gets outraged about practically everything).

Stephen Harper: Canada's Next Prime Minister?
scribblet replied to mirror's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Whats wrong with Harper speaking out for Canadians, its about time, Martin isn't doing much about it. -
Too bad they have to resort to anti Americanism as part of their platform to win. I guess they figure thats what it takes to keep the corruption and scandals on the back burner. Doesn't say much for the average voter who falls for it does it.

Should Harper be replaced?
scribblet replied to Big Blue Machine's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Even if Harper gains seats, but still loses the election, he will step down. As much as he deserves a second chance, he owes it to the party to step down if he can't win in a second election as leader. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I suppose you right, I imagine he would step down. Harper is a fiscal and economic guy, straight up, guess that doesn't resonate with the voters, they prefer corruption etc. Part of Harper's and the party's problem is the lack of ability to get the message out and tell the voters what they really stand for. They can't control the media either, what they need is a strong media campaign and a good offensive. If there's one thing the liberals are darn good at its runnning a smear attack campaign, they are masters at the game. The CPC havn't learned yet how to combat this. cheers -
Grewal Found Innocent Of Any Tape Wrongdoing
scribblet replied to mirror's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Grewel had a slimy reputation long before he went into federal politics. The only person responsible for his loss of reputation is Grewal himself. What reputation could you car eto explain to me? As a provicial MPP Grewel, on at least two other occasions, claimed he was offered posts or positions in return for favours. These claims were denied, however, based on what we know now, these claims were probably based on things Grewal thought he ws told after he went out actively seeking to enrich himself. I am sure Gerwal would have crossed the floor if the Liberals were willing to give Grewal an upfront commitment on the cabinet seat. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Do you have a source or back up for that ? thanks -

Should Harper be replaced?
scribblet replied to Big Blue Machine's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I'd take Harper's honesty and integrity over the liberal's any day. Harper will take the CPC into the next election, if does not gain any more seats or loses some, he will voluntarily step down. Same for Martin I would think, if he only gets another minority government he should to step down too. If people can only base their opinion of someone based on his attire that is sad. It would be a change if people actually read the CPC policy document and debated actual issues, not what the media or spin artists tell us it is. What about Layton, if he doesn't gain any seats should he step down too?
