You allready have a better government than the previous one Aye http://www.canada.com/topics/finance/story...288e142&k=67085 ``Of the people who had the audits done, only 30 per cent actually went on to do renovations,'' Lunn said Wednesday. ``Seventy per cent of the people did nothing (after getting) subsidized audits. So that does zero for the environment.'' A source familiar with the plan said the government also wanted the new program to target long-term higher-payback renovations, as well as including more incentives for "home renewables" such as ground-source heat pumps and water-efficient appliances.

Bush's Canadian 'Clone' in Jeopardy
scribblet replied to Catchme's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
How convenient that the Liberals used American speakers at their meetings, imagine that. Does that make them 'clones' of Bush? The fact that Harper used American strategists has no signififcance4, other than he wants to use the best advisors he can get. Hardly makes him a 'clone' of anything. All these drive by smears referring to Harper as a Bush clone are predicated on the false assumption that Harper is as right wing or as scary as Bush. Recent events and actions have proved all of this wrong, he is simply - liberal lite; in fact sometimes more left than Dion or Martin. -

Unlike rabble, which is left wing and funded by supporters, MLW is not here for the purpose of 'right wing propaganda '. You might want to check out the home page, it is one of the better run sites around and does not allow personal attacks. I find your statements : 'false attacks, putting words in peoples mouths, out right lies, misinformation, and name calling.' as spurious at best. -
Pakistan is not threatening to wipe Israel off the map, and is friendly towards the west, not weird at all. Iran will have nukes eventually unless someone very thoughtfully takes them out first (the nuke facilities).

I could say the same about liberals. However, I don't believe most members are conservative, in fact, lately the majority seem to be liberals or left wing. -
Alberta Oil Sands to Increase Production X5

Shockingly, it seems to be working, the first post was an indication of that. Far left sites are allready trying to pin it on Harper. there is no easy solution to the problem of energy, other than reducing our dependence on it, along with reducing our population. Dion has said he's interested in nuclear energy for the oil sands. http://www.630ched.com/news/news_local.cfm...=news_local.cfm FORT MCMURRAY, ALBERTA (630 CHED) - Liberal leadership candidate Stephane Dion says he's open to the idea of using nuclear energy as a source of power for Alberta's oilsands. -

Fifth Estate - Showing radical Islam in Toronto!

We all know ALL muslims are not radical, but enough of the are to disrupt the world and our economies. Maybe CBC would like to show the British Study. http://www.canada.com/nationalpost/story.h...78-fa943099b401 From the mouth of mullahs Journalists from Channel 4's Dispatches programme conducted a 10-month undercover assignment in several of Britain's leading mosques. Indeed, only the far left from Rabble would think Harper is 'far right'. Maybe those who do could quote the 'far right' policies so far, and any that might be in their policy paper. -
I'm putting this here to contrast this with the "The timing could not be more apposite. After the humorless banalities of the CBC's Little Mosque on the Prairie come the grotesque realities of Channel 4's Undercover Mosque in the U.K." The timing is appropriate, but I bet CBC won't broadcast this study., http://www.canada.com/nationalpost/story.h...78-fa943099b401 From the mouth of mullahs Journalists from Channel 4's Dispatches programme conducted a 10-month undercover assignment in several of Britain's leading mosques. The resulting segment, Undercover Mosque, was aired on Jan. 15. What is particularly relevant is that Dispatches has an international reputation for excellence and, important this, for its general left-wing approach to political issues. As such, the producers decided to investigate not those Muslim centres renowned for their extremism but various large, influential and allegedly moderate Islamic holy places. What it found has provoked waves of shock. Several preachers and imams call for holy war, tell congregations that Muslims have to brainwash people, demand that homosexuals be murdered, insist that girls who refuse to wear the hijab should be beaten, and routinely demand that Christians and Jews be killed. At one mosque in Birmingham, Abu Usama, one of the most popular speakers, says that Muslims have to "form a state within a state, until we take over." He says that in this state any Muslim who tried to leave Islam would be killed. "If the Imam wants to crucify him he could crucify him. The bperson is put up on the wood and he's left there to bleed to death." The documentary also shows a preacher joking about harming gay people secretly so as not to break the law. He laughs as he tells Muslim dentists to thrust extra- large needles into the faces of gay patients. This is all especially embarrassing for the government because one of its main advisors on Islam, a Muslim member of the House of Lords, attends this particular mosque and speaks highly of it.

I'm putting this here as I believe any threat of this type could affect the whole country. It is hard to believe that the FLQ could be raising their ugly heads again and threatening terrorism. I wonder if something happened, would Harper impose Martial law ? http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2007/01/18/flq-letter.html Letters threaten FLQ attacks in Montreal An RCMP spokesman says the force is taking "very seriously" a recent threatening letter signed by a group claiming to be a new cell of the FLQ, a Quebec militant group active in the 1960s and 1970s. The letter, dated Jan. 15, says "strategic targets of importance" will be targeted in the western, largely English-speaking part of Montreal between Feb. 15 and March 15. It mentions crowded shopping malls, bridges, rail lines, airport facilities, water supplies, municipal buildings and service stations. "We will especially target traffic on main highways," says the letter. The letter says the plan of attack is designed "for maximum impact" and warns "it's possible there will be injuries and deaths.

Wasn't Dion environment minister at the time Martin would have been talking about this? If he wasn't involved then he must have been ignored and kept out of the loop. -
I hope so, but if there is, guess who's fault it will be. You got it, as the article said; It will be Harper's fault putting them in the position of having to force the election. Talk about Chutzpah!

Do you agree with Kyoto - or not?
scribblet replied to Keepitsimple's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
No!! Why should we buy credits from countries who will continue to pollute. Kyoto is nothing but a socialist agenda of distributing the wealth. -
Why wasn't he kicked out of the Liberal caucus for this de-registration? Why has nobody here complained about the Liberals not sanctioning Kahn while he was in their caucus? Is there any reason for this double-standard? Good question. It only becomes and issue for the Liberals when Khan switches parties. The CPC said the PM was not notified of the problems in Mr. Khan's former riding, or of the Elections Canada penalty against the association before Mr. Khan switched parties. They also pointed out that if the Liberal Party, or Elections Canada, de-registers one of their riding associations, they do not notify the Prime Minister. What we should be asking is why the Liberals were quiet about the riding association problems when Mr. Khan was a Liberal, but have now had a sudden change of heart.

Agreed. Unions should stick to the reason for being; improving working wages and working conditions etc. The Teachers shouldo provide the means and skills to form an opinion. It' is another thing, when the goal is to sway the student to one view, to the exclusion of all others. The job of the teacher is to teach, without instilling any political bias.
-
There is no such assumption implicit or otherwise. The conflict could be discussed during the appropriate subject, but both sides have to be presented in a fair and balanced manner. This is not the first time that a labour union has tried to impose their left wing international views, but as the article said, it is particularly appalling that it is a teacher's union doing this. Our children should be taught the necessary skills, not being taught propaganda one behalf Hamas.
-
I'm appalled that they would be attempting this kind of indoctrination of their political views on their children. At the very least they should have an Israeli spokesperson giving their side of the issue. Inculcating our children with teacher's anti Israel left wing views is unnacceptable, I will be writing the board and the union about this. http://www.canada.com/nationalpost/story.h...a5-cfc5670e66b3 Teaching, not preaching National Post Published: Wednesday, January 17, 2007 If a motion passes later this week, Toronto-area members of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation (OSSTF) will be officially encouraged to lecture their students on "Israel's continued violation of the human rights of Palestinians." Back in December, the OSSTF had planned to table a similarly biased motion -- expressing support for international boycott campaigns against Israel -- but it was ultimately withdrawn. This time, however, the union plans to go beyond mere symbols: The teachers intend to develop curricular materials that examine "Israel's treatment of the Palestinians." article clipped

There's lots more but you all need to quit believing the conspiracy theories and understand that today, it is simply a brotherhood, a male society which gets together socially and does charitable work. Most of the origins are strictly theory and speculation. Masonry was actually a guild, or a union of masons and a member had freedom to practice throughout the countryside. This would be in keeping with similar practices of others guild artisans e.g. free fishermen, free linen weavers, free gardeners, etc. and were common terms in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. http://grandlodge.on.ca/150thAnniversary/GL_History.htm http://freemasonry.bcy.ca/anti-masonry/index.html The history of anti-masonry is almost as old as that of Freemasonry itself. Anti-masonic thought can be grouped into two broad categories: accusations of anti-Christian or satanic objectives, and accusations of political and social manipulation. Anti-masonic thought today generally turns to the many conspiracy theories currently popular in the media. Historically, Freemasonry has ignored such attacks. The following articles contain the facts. http://www.rickross.com/reference/freemaso...eemasonry7.html Madison Heights -- In best-selling books and Hollywood movies, the Freemasons are depicted as a religious sect tied to knights protecting the Holy Grail, or a secret society hiding a national treasure since the days of the American Revolution. Wrong on both accounts, says Don Novak, senior warden of the Northwood-Ancient Craft Lodge No. 551 in Madison Heights. Novak, a Royal Oak resident, and other Freemasons are in the midst of their own publicity blitz to educate the community about the oldest and largest fraternity in the world. This week members of the local lodge, 850 Horace Brown Drive, invited Madison Heights firefighters over for a barbecue to thank them for their public service and on Saturday will host an open house for curious residents of south Oakland County. "This is all part of a statewide campaign by the Grand Lodge of Michigan to dispel the rumors and innuendo in movies like "The DaVinci Code" and "National Treasure," Novak said. "Come on over. We'll pull back the curtains. We'll show you the closets and we'll tell you what Freemasonry is all about." Robert Stevens, grand secretary of the Grand Lodge of Michigan in Alma, is at a loss to explain all the misconceptions about the organization dating back to 1771 and boasting a U.S. membership roster with the likes of 14 U.S. presidents from George Washington to Gerald Ford, astronauts, scientists, business leaders and entertainers. Maybe it's because members don't advertise their affiliation, seek credit for their charitable work or publicly challenge references about their initiation process and rituals.
-
Most of what is written about Masonic lodges is speculation and myth, today it is a well respected organization which for the most part is a social encounter with charitable work. Although not members, we know close friends who are and enjoy their dances and odd other social event, all the people I have met are for the most part Christian, but more recently other religions. None are remotely satanic or anything close. these are just 3 thing you must be or believe in you must be a man you must believe in god and the afterlife you must be 18 http://grandlodge.on.ca/150thAnniversary/D...ictProjects.htm http://www.hoffmanlodge412.org/charities.htm this is an American lodge, there are many others involved in charitable work. As you know some Masons move up to be Shriners who are well known for their charity work, especially with burn victims.

Exactly; why anyone would ally themselves with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad a racist nut case if there was one Adding to this dangerous clash of civilizations is the need by despots to have an enemy in order to escape accountability for failing to improve their own societies. This is true not only of despots in other lands (today and in the past), but demagogues in our own. - Cal Thomas
