Conservatives Plans News Tax on Trusts
Higgly replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Tell that to the guys in the oil patch who paid for their rise to power. I see I real ugly future for somebody. -
I guess it's just you and Argus that wind me up, Niagara. Usually I'm pretty well behaved.
-
This sort of thinking does not apply to a very large number of jobs out here. How much negotiation power do you think an immigrant construction worker, Wal-Mart cashier or Molly Maid has? Somebody has to set a baseline, and that is government's job. Otherwise we'd have child labour and things like WHMIS would not exist.
-
So were the others banned? OK. Let's hear it. I've seen much worse here. What's your complaint? You too Stan.
-
We all saw your pitch to be a moderator Cameron. If we are going to get a declared Conservative as a mod, then we need to get a sentient being to balance that out. I volunteer. You want to tell me to stop anything, then get the admin to make you a mod and tell the rest of us that is had happened so we don't get a Steve Harper style sandbagging. I'll believe you are impartial when you complain about the bigotry that runs rampant here, Cameron. Four hundred posts doesn't make you any more qualified than anybody else.

This thread is proof positive that even idiots should enjoy free speech in Canada.

No, no. You don't get it. Murderers=bad. Non-murderers=good.

I'll bet she likes to get paid even more. I know I do. I don't like being used. I'll bet she doesn't either.

Sounds like you need a program. Your having a problem telling the good guys from the bad. Well then why don't you help me out? Let's start by trying to identify the good guys. Which do you pick? Pinochet who had his police fly political dissenters and opposition party members out over the ocean in helicopters tied up like pigs for the slaughter and drugged into a stupor; then dropped from a thousand feet head first? Kissinger who ordered the fire bombing of Cambodia, leading to the death of tens of thousands of innocent Cambodian pesants and the ultimate defeat of the peaceful government of Lon Nol and the rise of Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge who were responsible for one of the greatest mass murders of the 20th century? Sharon, who in the early days of the state of Israel lead reprisal raids which resulted in the slaughter of entire villages (Jordan and Syria) and police outposts (Egypt) and then went on to invade Lebanon and slaughter some 17,000 peple, including over 2,500 Palestinian refugee women and children who had been left defenceless after the voluntary surrender and evacuation of the PLO to Tunisia. Your choice?

What is the problem? What is the solution? Do you know? What is wrong with tailoring your policies to the people you want to vote for you? Any dips@it would do the same, including you. Canadians have repeatedly shown in polls that they want a neutral stand on the Middle East. The pro-Israel community is very, very loud but smaller than those who disagree with it. Canadians in general do not favour one side or the other. They believe that Canada can best serve the interests of peace by staying neutral. Harper is misguided on the issue.

Well of course someone needs to draw a line beyond which extra compensation must be paid and workers have a right to refuse. Other than that, you end up with Dickensian England, carpet-wallah India, and conditions under which only Geoffrey would like to work .

Indian Affairs Minister Opposes Smoking Ban
Higgly replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Hands up everybody who has ever worked with a First Nations person, worked or lived on a reserve, or had to enforce the Indian Act. Don't be shy now... -
CP: Klein tells PM Harper to lighten up with media
Higgly replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Because Klein represents Alberta and Income Trusts kept a lot of Alberta Oil and Gas companies alive during the bad times. Klein knows what is what. Harper has been spending too much time in meetings with Finance bureaucrats who don't give a damn about the taxpayer or the investor, as long as they can get on the Island Park bridge before it gets too croweded on a Friday. -
Harper is clueless when it comes to the Middle East. His policy is driven by the desperate need to get votes in Toronto (where he has been shut out) and to get funding for the Conservative Party. He is part of the problem, not the solution. Canadians are not as dumb as he thinks.

Augusto Pinochet, Henry Kissinger, and Ariel Sharon are next. Just you wait .

No you hint did not help, but the link below did. Thanks gc1765. BTW, it is not the first time I have been called an idiot here. Thanks for the compliment. It seems that idiot is one compliment which is not filtered by the software. I guess you know that because you do not attempt to hide its spelling. I know, that multidegree from top major universities thing. Your pride is my delight.

OK. Here's another one. Saddam invaded Kuwait. He claimed it was because Kuwait was traditionally Iraqi territory. Since Iraq was an invention of the Brits (who really screwed the pooch on this whole picture), who can say whether that was ever true? The US of A came to the rescue. Kicked Saddam out of Kuwait. Bully for you. Bully! We can all trust air travel again. Who can forget that Saddam was gonna blow up airplanes all over the world? As Saddam was being chased out of Iraq and his troops massacred by the hundreds of thousands on the highway of death out of Kuwait, the CIA started broadcasting messages into Iraq telling the Kurds and the Shias to rise up against Saddam. They trusted the CIA broadcasts and did exactly that. Unfortunately, the US stopped short of Bhagdad and pulled out. At the surrender talks, the defeated Iraqi generals asked Stormin' Norman Schwartzkopf if they could keep their attack helicopters. Stormin' Norman said, "Well hell yes!". The Iraqi generals used these helicopters to massacre the Shias and Kurds who trusted the CIA broadcasts. So who is gonna hang for that?

POLL: Regarding Muslim population in Canada
Higgly replied to betsy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Ft.niagra, please accept my apologies for leaving you out of the Betsy/Argus axis of evil. Best of luck in your new Hebron home.. -
So far as I know this site is operated from a univeristy as a public service. There are no profits involved. Rather the opposite, I expect. This site is the quintessential of what Canadian universities do. Maybe it is a role in Canadian society that universities can provide. I sure as hell hope so. I would be damned if I would ever trust the politicians, the business wonks, or the press. Academia may be our final backstop. It is the first target of psycopathic governments, and that says a lot.

Betsy, you are an ignorant bigot. Why don't you and Argus get together? Otherwise, I would have to tell the two of you to go f*ck yourselves. -
POLL: Regarding Muslim population in Canada
Higgly replied to betsy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Betsey, Jerry, Scriblett. Maybe you will be happier somewhere else. May I suggest Hebron? Please accept my best wishes for your new home in an elevated tinfoil trailer park home. And happy landings. -
Very good point. When are we gonna see Augusto Pinochet hang? How about Ariel Sharon? The Dear Leader? Why can we not have a World Court where these bastards can be tried?
