My theory as to why conservatives might report being happier is they are, by nature, more deferential to the status quo and more tolerant of social injustice. Another factor is that when asked by researchers about their life satisfaction, conservatives are more likely to lie. This is just self-mythologizing and circular reasoning.

No, the next question is not "why do they feel persecuted", the obvious question is "where is the evidence leftists are unhappy?" No, I think there's reason to believe that Blacks in America in particular feel that there are systems of discrimination in place that limit their opportunities which is 1) not the same as "persecution" and 2) probably true. But, again, that's not connected to the Prager pieces claims about "leftists". Some might. But here's the funny thing: I can tell you for a fact that, based on my brief interactions with the conservatives here, right wingers feel persecuted too. In fact the idea that shadowy forces of wokeness, DEI, academia, the mainstream media, Hollywood, immigrants, etc etc are working to keep the straight white man down is THE central animating force of today's right.

You're also missing the point. The claim being made was not that leftists claim the existence of systems of oppression that conservatives do not. The claim is (1) that leftists are more unhappy than conservatives and (2) they source of that unhappiness is their belief that they are personally being persecuted. it is, in a word, horseshit.

Because it shows the idea that dividing people by racial or gender or ethnic lines is a newfangled creation of woke lefties is absolute nonsense. Dividing people along such lines has been a fundamental part of this country's history (Head Tax, Chinese Immigration Act, the Indian Act, various de facto segregation policies). That doesn't say anything about political orientation or personal happiness, nor does the existence of such profound gaps in perceptions of racial equality between blacks and whites, particularly in certain scenarios like interacting with police, support Prager's view that the dumb black people are just being indoctrinated into thinking things are worse than they are.
