How would you know it's false? I think it's more likely that, since you have no way of knowing, you have just declared it to be false because you know you couldn't defend supporting him otherwise and you're too cowardly to admit that. I didn't even know he met your mother. But the sexual assaults weren't his only crimes. They're not even the only crimes he was convicted of.
