What do Canadians want in Afgan and why ?
Figleaf replied to Army Guy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I'm sorry, I must be formulating my question inaptly. Let me put it this way ... Why are the troops available to Karzai's faction inferior (in numbers, capabilities, whatever) to the other forces, such that they need Western support and training to make them competitive? -

Don't know much about religion eh. Well first off I'm guessing you haven't read any of the new testament, in which case you'd know about the teachings of Jesus Christ. http://www.mapleleafweb.com/forums//index.php?showtopic=9011 Embodiment? http://www.mapleleafweb.com/forums//index.php?showtopic=9011 Anyway, the difference between the WBC and weak-kneed Christianity was part of my point, as I recall. Hey, look, another proponent of religion who can't discuss without attacking and insulting. How unsurprising. Please provide a specific example, otherwise I'll conclude this is just part of your vituperant Christian defence-mechanism on display above. -

Why can't the Afghan army confront the Taliban on their own? -
Soldiers Fight While Civilians Fret
Figleaf replied to Keepitsimple's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
NO. No no no no no. We have not, and we must not. (And was a condescending notion anyway.) Keepitsimple, you said this material discussed what is being accomplished in Afghanistan, but I don't see that information. -
And yet wars have been fought over it. So what? So, while you say it's not the worst thing in the world, it must nevertheless be bad enough to engage in death, misery, and destruction to avoid it. I'm not proposing to ban religion, though it is a tempting notion. I think we'll have to settle for it just dying off from irrelevance. Are you sure?

Hurry up Figleaf. I'm waiting. What are you doing? Trying on a new outfit??? LOL! C'mon, you always knew I was a thinly disguised pr!c*.

When Gore called his book "The Assault on Reason", he might have been thinking of certain posters here.
-
No, I would completely disagree. The phenomena are closely linked. Developing slight differences between mainline and sub-species is a step in the process of species differentiation.
-
And yet wars have been fought over it.

This was just reported on CBC tonight. Peter Mackay has called for Russia and China to send troops to Afghanistan! Desperation? Lunacy? I don't know, but Pinnocchio says he wants these two tyrannies to help establish democracy in Afghanistan. Yeah, right, that makes sense.

.I also like to think so. In fact, that very same system of laws efficiently, objectivley and fairly determined that it was ok for Sikhs to wear Kirpans in school. I don't see where the fairness is, and accordingly the objectivity is questionable. Efficiency, perhaps. All it will take is once, to prove your position wrong.

Oh yeah? Well, prove that then. You don't have a correct understanding of what science is. Science is a method of building sound understanding of the environment by systematic application of reason to evidence. It uses experimentation to test hypotheses. It uses induction to establish general predictions based on probabilities. At its best, it is always skeptical, always ready to test new data objectively and change its predictions based on those tests. I would urge you to read a few basic commentaries on the nature of science. That would help you understand better the subject you have been trying to address here. No, science cannot fathom the unfathomable because the definition of unfathomable would be that it cannot be fathomed. Your closed-loop of logic is perfect, except it has no meaning. Pick something and prove that it is 'unfathomable' rather than merely unfathomed. You can't. Poetry is not proof.

1. The UN is supposed to be all encompassing rather than exclusive to certain types of country. The idea is to provide a forum for dialogue to resolve differences, not to simply provide an echo-chamber for any one group. 2. Zimbabwe was a member of the UN back when it was still called Rhodesia and was an aparthied-style state.

That makes no sense. How would PNAC have created 9/11 without control of the presidency?

If you think it's the same thing, then stop using the word "invent" I'll decide. ... to lie.

Figleaf I think you have to get over your hatred of people from a certain religious group. Hate the sin, love the sinner. Have you heard this one? Leviticus 21:9 And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire. -
How do you define strong? Maybe some people do. But others consider it and evaluate its claims and decide on a basis of probability to believe it, at least in the absense of a better explanation. The fossil record does support the theory, it just does not conclusively prove the theory. Cite? If you substitute the phrase 'has not' for the word 'cannot', you would have a true statement. As it is, you have a mere conjecture dressed up as an assertion.

Nothing on this thread proves Gore is a liar. What this thread has established is that you lie. Except for his own words which the Gore apologists can't change. No need. Ooookaaaay. Thanks for indicating how profoundly uninformed you are. Wikipedia: Run along now, B.Max. Your nonsense has finally reached the point of absurdity.

Yeah! Mussolini, Franco, Pol Pot, Ivan the Terrible ... they're the real heroes.

It's true he has toned that down some since becoming PM. But I refered to his political history, which includes slagging certain provinces and regions, slagging the constitution, slagging confederation, slagging the courts, slagging our social policies, slagging slagging slagging.

Dealing in absolutes are we? Regardless, you're also ignoring the fact that rockets have been launched into Israel to initiate the 'defensive' actions by Israel. In the Israel/Palestinian conflict, unravelling who started what on a micro-level is a mug's game because the media simply cannot be trusted to provide a clear picture. (On a macro-level, of course, the causes are much easier to discern and identify.)

I'm real sorry to have used the term 'gerrymandering' to describe gerrymandering. What was I thinking? Deliberately delivering more seats to some and not to others in knowing violation of population facts is gerrymandering in my book. Yep. Unless you have the crazy idea that undervaluing individual voters based on where they live is not quite cricket.

I don't think Canadian Blue attacks personally either. He just comments and makes points that one can either agree or disagree about. I don't know enough about Dancer although he did call voters morons. As for your other stalker, doesn't he remind you of Ricki Robbi the way he follows you around the forums. Seems to attack personally all the time. Thankfully, he was banned. We won't see the likes of him again. Oh, you mean Bluth. I think he's stalking YOU. All I have to do to avoid Bluth is not post anything about Steve. Leave Steve alone and his hired flunky Bluth can't be bothered with you. Just remember, don't criticise il duce if you don't want to hear from ill dupe.
-
Another lie. He doesn't claim to have 'created' it. He claims to have taken initiative in creating it. Every time you post your credibility sinks a little lower. People who tell lies about other people owe them apologies. I guess you were brought up differently. Nothing on this thread proves Gore is a liar. What this thread has established is that you lie.

Seems like you have your own stalker, Fig. I do, but not Canadian Blue -- he's just misguided. M.Dancer is the one who seems to have become my unwelcome entourage, although he seems to be taking a vacation today.
