F-22 Raptor program cancellation
Jerry J. Fortin replied to Jerry J. Fortin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Canada has no need of either of the ICBM's dude. We don't have and don't want nukes. Air superiority fighters we could use though. As to when the last air combat mission in which an enemy aircraft was destroyed, I have no idea. -
F-22 Raptor program cancellation
Jerry J. Fortin replied to Jerry J. Fortin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The bird has never been deployed in combat, because when it rains they don't work very well. I think they will be sold off, to the highest bidder. You can think what you like BC. We have lots of problems to solve, I just think that we may be able to act on an opportunity up here. -
There are two main camps, one is in power and the other isn't. At any given time one wants an election to get in power. Its always a crap shoot, and nobody ever knows which way the wind will blow.

Canada's Flawed Unemployment Stats

I am not sure about this argument. I see it as a deduction from my paycheck, which is the same thing as a tax, to me anyway. -

I would not bet on that. They spent 177 million each on the damned things. They can't deploy them, because they don't work and to keep them means spending money on an asset they can't use. I am willing to be that within the next two years the entire production is sold off to recover some of the costs. I think we should be preparing for that eventuality. -
Muslim Honor Killing in Kingston

It is time to deal with organized crime. Legalize drugs and prostitution, have the government hold the right to form companies to handle the trade, and tax the hell out of it. -
In other words another freaking lame duck House of Commons with nothing getting done. I am not sure which is worse, leaving Harper in power or a Liberal government doing the same thing as Harper.

I know the paper pushers have issues with the F35, but what can I say the F22 is a nice bird with issues. Come on AG lets buy the damned things and fix'em up. I'll bet we could solve the issues. -

That was funny! -
Here is a question for you folks. Now that the US has killed their "Arrow", should Canada buy the airframes and fix them?

Canada Unveils Arctic Strategy
Jerry J. Fortin replied to Dave_ON's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
It isn't nearly enough. We don't even have sufficient political will let alone military capability. -
I think many folks here are barking up the wrong tree, in the wrong forest, at the wrong time. Look folks all the Jewish votes in the nation won't swing a single seat in any constituency. This discussion has nothing to do with that reality, it is merely another attempt to have western nations engage in a middle eastern debate that has no vital consequence to this nation in real terms. The entire issue is one of religious conflict. The entire battle is between a national military and a group terrorists that are zealots. What on earth does this have to do with Canada? What side should Canada back, the terrorists or the legitimate government of a sovereign nation who is not an enemy of this nation and has no ties to any terroristic actions in this nation? Really now, is there any real choice for our government to make?

The issue here isn't whether or not changes are made to the system, but instead the perception of cooperation between opposition parties and the government. Its an interesting little trap really. The discussions were to be ongoing through the summer, a real dead spot in Canadian politics. Nothing else has cropped up, so the focus has been retained on this single axis. If the opposition decides to say the government wasn't serious about changes to EI, then it simply declares that the minority government of Harper is unwilling to govern with the consent of the majority of Parliament with a resulting no confidence motion. If the Harper government consents to changes, the opposition will declare they have already begun to govern and a non confidence vote will occur. It is safe to say the Harper will face a vote as soon as the opportunity arises. I will therefore predict a vast shake up of cabinet, and a delay getting them new people sworn in. After that a major agenda change will take place in order to cause a change in opposition days that would allow the introduction of a confidence vote. The PMO will utilize Orders in Council to govern without convening the House until late this fall. Harper will succeed in retaining power until spring, but he will be finished at that point.

Perhaps it has something to do with the demographic selection, or the time at which polling was taken? It could be anything, even a hidden trend.

Canada Unveils Arctic Strategy

I saw a map somewhere that showed the proposed lines. I will have to look for it, but it showed Alaska with lines that reached to the pole as well as Denmark, Russia and everyone else. -

This should make all Canadians wake up!

Does this mean they no longer do telethon fundraisers for suicide bombers? I watched one of those things once on the news, very interesting how THOUSANDS of Saudi's donate money to pay the families of the criminal idiots. I don't think for one second that the House of Saud will in any way be implicated, the citizens of the nation are another story. -

When the US quits funding terrorists through rich Saudi families, maybe I will listen to that argument.
