  1. This entire episode is beginning to anger me. Until the reactor broke we had a 50% market share worldwide. Now this clown thinks we should just shut it down. There is a lot that will be said about this if he actually does it. Mr. Harper you are fired.
  2. http://www.justicemonitor.ca/repeatoffenders.htm I will submit that some violent offenders deserve little more than to waste away in jail. Olson, Bernardo, to name just two. They will never get out, but they are an exception and they should not be.
  3. Adapt to guerrilla warfare? Really? Just exactly how is that done successfully?
  4. They are trying to head off the gains at the gate. Only problem is that Iggy is not Dion. The government has made a large strategic error in its planning and a large tactical error in the execution of the flawed plan.
  5. We both know the real answer to that question. Regular maintenance was preformed at proscribed intervals. The system failed, it happens. Nobody is dumb enough to mess with reactors in this or any other nation. Bad luck to be in power when it happens, thats all. The story is a common one.
  6. I think it is safe to say Iggy with handle him roughly at the first opportunity. I don't really expect that Harper will be dumb enough to start slinging directly. He may have people around him dumb enough to try though.
  7. The ND's need traction and this is the proper economic environment for it of that there is no doubt. Even so Jack can't get the time of day from folks, the big fellas in the field have marginalized him with great success.
  8. Possibly. On the other hand, his values and opinions seem to change with the direction of the political wind. Remember that this guy was one of the author's of the "Alberta Firewall" letter. He once was part of the National Citizen's Coalition. He was once an Alliance Party member. All these things are in the dumpster because they do not let him acquire the power he craves.
  9. Really? Like what is the point of the system if not to apprehend, try, and convict perpetrators of crimes in this nation? Justice is not well served by allowing convicted criminals out of prison to commit crimes against innocent citizens.
  10. She could be honest and say the reactor has gone for shit, and we need to do something about yesterday. She can say that this is happening on her watch and she knows what the consequences are if something doesn't get done immediately. She can say that she did not break the damned thing it broke on its own, but she is the person that has to get it fixed. Layton said it right in question period. This was known five months ago, she never told anyone that she knew there was a problem. She said it was only a money problem, so why did she not do anything about it? This is a political forum, that discusses politics is it not? Well Sherlock, yo have certainly hit the nail on the head. Considering the transparent nature of this Conservative Government lead by Mr. Harper, I find it a little strange that we are only now finding out about the extent of the problem and only through scandal does the truth come to light.......
  11. Good place for them to stay. Perhaps we can fix the problem before they get a chance to get out.
  12. Well I stand corrected, let me rephrase. The government had two crisis's with the same reactor in 18 months......
  13. I thought we had two, do you mean that she was not the boss during the first one?
  14. Hey guy, I understand what you are saying, and I don't entirely disagree with you. The fact remains that on her watch we have had two problems with the same reactor. Now you can blame everyone under the sun, but the cold hard truth is that she is responsible for that reactor. We can honestly conclude that if the Liberals were in power it would be their problem, but they are not and it isn't. Sure you can say that in hindsight this could have been done and that could have been done, but in order to do that properly you would have to have some facts to back it up. Now to do that you would need some report that suggested that something actually needed to be done, the government presents no such case. So their defense on this issue is flawed and leaves them wide open. Had the Liberals been told that the reactor needed work, and they ignored the advice, well then you could hang them from a yardarm. That is not the case.
  15. Nope, I think that he is headed toward an election with an empty clip in a defective gun.
  16. Okay now I am offended! She did not apologize at all! She expressed sorrow for anybody who took offense to the comment, she did not say she was wrong in saying it in the first place. She expressed no regret for the remark at all. It seems that that bad staffer taped her talking in private where her real feelings could be spoken aloud. I have no sympathy for her at all. I think that is one cold hearted women who would call such a crisis sexy, a crisis which took the lives of so many of her own family, she would seek a power struggle with another minister to grab the credit for fixing it. The moral question that she did not see, is a question I would leave with her to answer whether or not it was a moral thing to say and do considering her background and relationship with cancer.
  17. Oh dear, don't burst a blood vessel or something! Look I detest the way the government has dealt with this issue as well. Raitt's emotional response was not something that I saw, but I find it very distasteful.
  18. I will repeat that we should be viewing military procurement from a "what can we build here perspective". We are talking about a whole pile of cash that would best serve the national interest to be invested in our own nation instead of financing some other nations military industrial program.
  19. Sounds like the old lawyer joke... What do you have when two lawyers are up the their necks in sand? Not enough sand. I would giggle to see Harper go down that hard, but I would not bet a single dime on it happening, he will lose power but not to that extent.
  20. Out of curiosity why was the Super Herc considered? http://www.lockheedmartin.com/products/c130/c-130j-specs.html ://http://www.lockheedmartin.com/produ...30j-specs.html
  21. From Government transcripts...http://www2.parl.gc.ca/housechamberbusines...58163#TopSearch So who is responsible and accountable according to her boss, the Prime Minister? Is that clear accountability? Is it an honest response to a valid round of questions regarding government "SECRETS" and the competence of a Minister of the Crown? I will suggest that such a means has not to date been very damned effective at making the scum accountable.
