  1. If every other group in the world is entitled to "self-determination" why not the Jews? In this rest of your post you make little secret of your venom. What poison prose! In what respect is Abraham "despicable" or a "maggot?" Last seen he was an imperfect human being with the foibles of person-hood. That is why we don't kill people over cartoons showing Abraham. Again we're a district people. Just as Poles, or Canadians are entitled to self-determination so are the Jews; especially when our spell as a Diaspora people came to a bloody ending between 1933 and 1945. Evidently the Arabs, very much so. If the surrounding people were as "live and let live" as you are it would be a different story.
  2. Read my earlier posts. The problem from the point of view of people of a "progressive" bent with abolishing the college is that likely Republican votes in NYC and California city suburbs and rural areas would suddenly become meaningful.
  3. Jacee does not recognize Israel as a Jewish state. Understood. That's what I've thought about most anti-Israel posters. What authority is there to end a group of sentences with a "."? Unless that's in the Canadian as opposed to English language.
  4. 100% agree. Maybe BC2004 would like the Israel-Gaza border? But with tunnels rather than bridges.
  5. Here. Isn't the word "handpicked" a bit pejorative? Or, "(o)nce again.... Harper could not find a single judge that shares his societal values? Or the judges he has appointed have used the law to make judgements while on the SCC?"
  6. What are Palestine's borders? What is its population? To what degree does it control affairs within its borders? Answer those questions ane explain what makes "Palestine" a state. What is that extra "."?
  7. Pure pettifoggery. Obama doesn't want to be embarrassed for caving to Iran on nuclear weapons, however that might be sugar-coated. Vice-Presidents actually don't spend their working hours "presiding" over the Senate. They show up when they may be needed to break a tie. This is a long-standing tradition of Vice-Presidential silence after John Adams famously put his foot in his mouth over the issue of how to properly address the President. Long story short, he made a fool of himself. It will be interesting to see how many normally deep blue states such as New York, California or Illinois elect Republicans if the Democrats try that stunt. It couldn't get much cooler. Obama is an enemy of the Jews and the State of Israel. And a fool to boot.
  8. The nub of this is that the "Palestinians" don't want a Palestinian state. They want Israel gone. The deal-breakers will, as you point out, be Jerusalem and as you inadvertently omit, non-militarization. The Israelis would only accept an area demilitarized in the sense of post-WW II Japan or West Germany. The "Palestinians" cannot and will not accept this since their view is that they are Arabs. Between 1948 and 1967 there was never a move to make the "disputed territories" an independent country. This became a post-1967 fallback position. About as durable as Crimea's existence as an "independent" state after they were detached from Ukraine.
  9. Much of the way both of our governments operate is by tradition. One can't write for every possibility. Is there a law that says you hold a door open for a person who is having trouble walking? If they drop money are you legally compelled to pick it up and return it to them rather than shove it into your wallet? Same deal.
  10. But the State legislatures determine the means of Elector selection. State legislatures very rarely deviate from the popular mandate. There was a real threat that would happen in Florida in 2000. In my opinion the USSCT threw the election to Bush to avoid triggering a constitutional crisis.
  11. To not know history is to be doomed to repeat it. And Russia's attempt to re-establish its empire may well trigger such a war.
  12. Ever try petting a golden retriever? Hint, there's no safe way to do so.
  13. I agree. I've been reading newspaper footage from 1948, when Czechoslovakia "went Communist." The Russians pulled the same garbage, i.e. fomenting bogus internal strife and then intervening.
  14. I feel very strongly on the issue of physician-assisted suicide. Probably to your surprise generally in favor of it. No the three posts I quoted were Harper bashing having little to do with the subject. Why the extra "period" in all your posts? I await an explanation.
  15. Let's see. Your buddies in ISIS and similar ilk make no pretensions of obeying any law at all. And you reserve your fire for imperfect Western countries?
  16. I didn't realize this was another "bash Harper" thread. With a taste of Mulroney thrown in.
  17. Is there any talk that the U.S. would set Gitmo on fire and burn the prisoners alive? You aver talking about inconceivable situations in modern times.
  18. From personal experience, though not involving Canadians or doctors, but other health care professionals, quite true.
  19. Not a chance.
  20. Would not be the first time one of our countries' Supreme Courts did this. I support the outcome, not the reported reasoning. Can someone link me to the decision?
  21. Heartbreaking story. I babysat for a family with a golden retriever when I was about 14. The dog lashed me hard with its tail. That's why I conclude they are untameable.
  22. The difference is that historically Europe has always tended towards union of some sort, albeit usually of the coerced variety, under the force of arms. The U.S., Canada and Mexico don't really have such a history in spite of one or two wars apiece. Very different situations.
  23. But you need to look at the number of people that have positively ferocious animals such as Newfoundlands, Golden Retrievers or Labs.
  24. Pretty boy can't think for himself?
  25. Ah yes, without the Big Bad West these s***holes would be paradise. Go figure.
