  1. As you know the U.S. has, for whatever reason, been a big MLW topic. I wrote, for Facebook a comprehensive set of posts, one an "Opening Post" and the other reactions to responses. I also posted some of this on www.citiy-data.com .Rather than re-wring, and rather than risking a warning, suspension or ban can I post all or some of this in appropriate threads?

    Thanks in advance.
  2. Happy New Year everyone. 2015 has to be better than the last three.

      A surprise or two.

  3. Happy Chanukah, Merry Christmas and Happy Boxing Day to all. Usually I attach pictures to my seasonal e-mails and posts. This year is different. Shortly after Chanukah began, and literally minutes before the sunset starting its second day, my mother's three-year struggle with cancer and dementia came to a merciful end, so I have been focused on my role as a Jewish mourner, husband and father. The Jewish funeral and mourning period come immediately upon the heals of a loved one's pas...

  4. In memorium - My mother November 7, 1932 - December 17, 2014. Funeral almost immediate per Jewish custom, Dec. 19 @ 10:00 a.m.

Truly sorry for your loss. She had a good long life and I hope it was a happy one leaving you with fond memories.

Thanks for all the kind words. Responding to Ash74, until the last three years that was the case. Since then not so much.

  5. Life can be very topsy turvy, a real panorama of ups and downs. December was marked both with the death of a long-loved stepfather and the start, with my mentor of 27 years, at a new position in the City. We started on January 1. On January 16, 2014 my mother's oncologist, my mother and I made a decision not to resume chemotherapy in the face of resurgent cancer. For this period, the bitter has definitely mixed with the sweet. But then, maybe that's what life is about.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Life certainly can be topsy turvy, and times like these reveal to us what is truly important, and what is not.

  6. My beloved stepfather passed away yesterday in the early morning hours. My mother and he married on June 13, 1974, or 39 years, 6 months and 9 days prior to his passing. Funeral is tomorrow, at graveside. He will be missed.

  7. I can think of much better arguments against Obama than this bogus "birther" issue.

Agreed, and the fake arguments that he's a gay Muslim socialist hell bent on destroying the US. The best arguments to be made against Obama, other than the botched roll out of Obamacare (or Obamacare itself), NSA spying scandal, or the IRS targeting scandal, is the fact that he's good at talking but not good at doing. He's terrible with working with those who disagree with him (sadly similar to Harper) but unlike Harper most of Obama's policy initiatives do not work.
