I am not a scientist but if you have no alternatives what are the alternatives? China doesnt have natural gas reserves and Japan is now trying to claim the oil discovered in the China Sea. China is a very dirty country, most people are fairly clean, but there are rural areas where they arent. The majority of Urban dwellers do have showers, but you still see a few women washing clothing in streams and drainage ditches, even on the outskirts of cities. Any store you go into, even in rural areas, has a whole lot of shampoos, soaps, deoderants, etc for sale. In the cities most larger stores have such a huge section of them that its am amazing thing to see -- China also has no way to dispose of garbage other than to burn it, they doesnt appear to be any kind of garbage collection. Actually they kind of do, you see many male labourers wearing what I suppose we would call busines suits to work, (the Mao suit is dead and has been for years.) The amount of clothing for sale, and fashion consumption by the Chinese is also amazing. Other than in very rural areas the Chinese are well dressed people. Production for export and domestic consumption. Anything that is exported is also for sale in China and at reasonable prices.

Didnt someone post that they already get 10 billion a year? Where is all this money supposed to come from? I dont think Cdn tax payers can take much more, we are already one of the highest taxed countires in the world to my understanding.

Also for the sake of discussion, slavery is not limited to Anglo Saxons and in fact the earliest records of slavery come from the Middle East. Egyptians had slaves. If the ME is indeed the cradle of civilization and the bible is considered to be a historical document, then we know they have a long history of slavery. There were more slaves in Rome than free citizens. Every country in the world had slaves. Most were captured enemies. Other countries of course were occupied and the people became slaves to the occupation. US is not the only country to import slaves from Africa, Brazil, Spain, France, The French West Indies, The British West Indies, British North America, Europe, the Dutch West Indies, and Australia imported slaves. The slave system was abolished in favour of the indentured servant system instead. The Portuguese and Islamic countries are the main players who trafficked in slaves. One can say Canada had slavery as our natives who captured enemies and used them as slaves. I would challenge anyone to name a country who hasnt had slaves. I have never personally owned a slave however there are a lot of days when I kind of wish I did ... I have been a slave, though most of you know this situation better when its refered to as "motherhood" or "marriage". I have filled out the occupation field on my rax returns as "slave" and a person I know who works for Revenue Canada said they actually get returns from about 1000 "slaves" every year. Almost all married females.

Skimmed through this thread and I think someone is yanking your chain with a made up name that sounds Middle Eastern - My thoughts are that an international student would be better educated than to post this kind of message. IMO this is someone pretending to be Middle Eastern to get some race action going here.

I doubt that is a person in Canada who hasnt heard about land claims, and anyone who went to school has studied Canadian History. That includes the history of the aboriginals. I think that what you arent really understanding is that people wont accept having their lives disrupted, being cut off from their employment, having their homes burned or having access cut off to their homes and experiencing huge personal loss. It wont win you support. People I know who used to support Land Claims dont any longer. They have had enough. Your methods are counter-productive. I am upset over the continuous disregard of one Government after another for the plight of diabled workers in Canada, who IMO are entitled to compensation for accidents while they were working - does that give me the right to take my anger out on my neighbours and disrupt their lives and livelinhood? They arent responsible and I am willing to bet 80% of Canadians have no idea how low disabilitypensions are -- My frustration at the lack of awareness and action doesnt give me the right to break the law and hurt other people. -

No matter what we do as consumers it will have NO impact on pollution in OUR countries as long as other countries in the world continue to pollute because they are dependent upon coal for energy and heat. NOTHING will mitigate that reality. Pollution is an INTERNATIONAL problem, we can assist other countries in overcoming their energy challenges or we can sacrifice everything we rely on and still see no change. -

Let me see if I have this straight, if I am a white person and a white person commits a crime against me and I resist thats ok. If I am white person and a native person or whatever commits a crime against me and I resist thats racism? Thats a pretty racist comment in itself - if white people are being victimized they should suck it up and shut up because they deserve it because they are white? Now who's the racist? If I were you I wouldnt try to speak for all native people, I mentioned Len Marchand as an example. In Northern Alberta when we were living there the ratio of white to native in the lumber mill and in supervisory positions was pretty much 50/50. Everywhere I have worked there have also been native employees and they are not discriminated against by co-workers, many are promoted to supervisory and management positions. Many hosptials I have been in have a large percentage of native nurses. That have's and have-nots are like any other race. Those who choose to get an education, get a job, be independent and those who dont. It isnt exclusive to natives, or any other race. Its evident by your posts that do hate all white people and are a racist. Very evident. You have called white people lazy drunks, and I dont know what else - throughout - and made more than a few slurs against white people. Werent you the one who said "they arent going to buy my sister?" yah as if ...... FYI some natives are speaking out against the claims made by formers students of residential schools, one is Rev. Arthur Anderson who attended the school in Saskatchewan, as a student, a shcool against which many claims of sexual and physical abuse have been made. -

I must say I object to people "quoting" comments I never made - there have been several such "quotes" from Temagami Scourge. The other posters read his quotes and respond to them - perhaps if posts were being read in their entirity and then addressed it would be a more equitable discourse. I have somehow become someone living on Govt assistance, then complaining about native assistance, someone who claimed there are no natives taking advantage of post secondard education, someone who said I hate all natives based on the colour of their skin and advocate shooting all of them - and I dont know what else ... frankly the posts tend to be hard to follow when they become an insulting rant ...all things posted by Temagami Scourge, and things he claims I have said. In fact what I have said is I am fed up with living in an arpatheird society and having people disrupt and destroy others lives, that natives in Caledonia dont have their livelihood threatened, they havent suffered huge economical impacts and disruption to their lives. As others have said THIS IS THE ISSUE. Stop taking your frustrations out on innocent people. You are losing support and sympathy when you promise "mayhem" in Canada, something you, Temagami Scourge, did say you support - the people's who's lives your detroy will NOT be lobbying their pols to settle these claims, in fact just the opposite. I also said you are creating and promoting racism and this agenda will escelate into a race war if it isnt stopped. Pretty simple things to understand really. The natives wont back down and neither will the non-natives, the difference is we arent going into your homes and reserves and creating mayhem and threatening your safety and day to day lives. We arent the people passing the laws and hostage taking has never been a productive avenue to get a point across. -
I would have thought that Capitalist Conservatives would be interested in a country that Canada has so much money invested in ... and who is a major trading partner and is driving Canada's economy. Most people these days getting an MBA or planning on becoming CEO's will find themselves traveling to China because thats where your manufacturers are. There are over 250,000 Canadians living in China, 250 buinesses just in Beijing. I guess you all just missed the line in my post that said Like it or not it IS your problem too ... China has a Medical System and medical technology that has doctors from Canada and other countries traveling to China to visit and talk to the doctors over there. A group from BC visited not too long ago. But, nice attitude I must say .. I would have thought being a Convervative meant having an interest in Canada's position and trading partners, NAFTA, WTO, and the Global Economy, If Canadians are to expect any kind of tax relief from the Government it will be because we have a strong global economy. Unless we want to lose our place in the world and become a "third world" country we have to strenthen our trading allicances with other countries. I dont recall Harper saying he was going to cut off economic ties with China, in fact I believe his stated intention was to double trade with China. Paul Martins visit to Beijing 2005It may be a Liberal Speech but Harper and the Conservatives realize how important this alliiance is to the Canadian economy, and ultimately, to every one of you as well. Pollution and Global Warming is also a global issue, the pollution doesnt stop at a country's border. China is developing Hydro power by damming the Yahngtze but we are all contributing to the problem and reaping the benefits and because it DOES impact on Canada I think it deserves consideration and intellectual discourse, not insults and ignorance. http://www.as.harvard.edu/chemistry/trop/p.../jacob1999b.pdf Effect of rising Asian emissions on surface ozone in the United States

I have spend some time teaching and traveling in China. Given the amount of capital Canada and the US have invested in the country and the volume of outsourcing being channeled into China by the West I have to wonder if these same countries should feel some responsibility for the pollution being spewed out by factories producing goods for Western consumption. Most of the "name brand" clothing is being made in China these days. Household items, cosmetics, electronics, you name it - its all coming out of China. The unfortunate thing is that all these factories are powered by coal. 1 million people die a year in China, from lung diseases and infections, and this pollution is impacting NA. Its pretty far reaching. Does anyone have any thoughts? Other than to call me a Chinese commie spy?

So if you are doing so well and everyone is riding on your coat tails then whats your bitch? I work for everything I have, I never stood around whining and crying that the Government owes me a free ride. Where is that "Native Pride" we hear so much about? If you are suggesting I am taking a free ride on the tax payers or receiving any kind of Government Assistance you are jumping to some pretty stupid assumptions. Your post is so irrational and garbled its hard to understand. Maybe if you just dropped all the personal insults and stupid comments based on ... nothing .. it would make more sense ? As a friend of mine once explained it to me "you have to understand that Natives arent capable of looking after themselves so we have to look after them -". Is that what you want the world to believe? I dont believe it, I know some pretty capable indians. Len Marchand was one. I stated my case, I am tired of living in an arpatheid society where one class, based on race, is priviliged. Thats my opinion and I am entitled to it. I am tired of my tax dollars supporting able bodied people who choose not to work. As one poster said 10 billion dollars a year for aboriginal affairs and programs - thats a helluva drain on tax payers. On a per capita basis its horrendous. I did not post personal insults to you though I am tempted. Where's the intellectual content in your post? The difference between white people living in shacks with broken windows is they dont expect the Government to build a new house for them, if they want a new house they have to go to work and make the money to buy one. They dont expect the tax payers to buy one for them. How many natives were in residentail schools in relation to those who are living on assistance and demanding more and more? If they signed the Treaties they can now claim they didnt and want their land back ... Natives didnt spring from the dirt in Canda, they migrated here just as everyone else did. If you want to be called Canadian then act like one ... -

Anthropological research has shown that in the funeral rites of the Plains cultures a corpse was wrapped in hide and laid on a platform raised on poles or placed in a tree, exposed to the elements. In the Thompson River Valley the dead were put in caves dug into clay banks in the semi arid region, placed in a sitting postion facing the rising sun in the East. The hot arid climate mummified the remains. There is also evidence of cremation of the dead. I believe burial mounds were restricted to the Maritmes, southern Ontario/Ohio Border and the Dakotas, a middle Missouri River practise and not part of the Plains culture. The exception being only two burial "pits" discovered, one in Southern Saskatchewan and one in Southern Alberta. It is unlikely that there are a lot of native burial sites that should impede development in any areas outside the ones mentioned. As a point of interest, at one time the Kamloops Museum contained the mummified remains of an aboriginal person, something I thought was abhorent, and immoral, no respect at all, it was removed and I assume give proper burial a long time ago. -

I said natives in BC dont take advantage of free education the way the natives in Saskatchewan do. There is a remarkable difference in attitudes between provinces and bands. The reserves I am talking about with new homes, etc are in the interior of BC. I have been on reserves in the north and yes the housing can be bad but I have to ask "who put the holes in the walls and got rid of the doors and windows?" I dont think the Government built those houses without doors, windows and holes in the walls etc . I just feel we should have society where people are all treated equally. No privilige based on race, gender, sexual orientation or whatever. Financial aid should be reserved for those who cannot work because of disabilities and illness, not for those who choose not to, and then make lives miserable for those who do. One law for everyone. People who break that law are dealt with equally under the law. No exceptions, no priviliged class who is immune to prosecution. The lawyer who approached this native man was also a native. If the man in question was interested in scamming the Govt he wouldnt have told me about it. He was disgusted, angry, felt it gave people like him a bad name. And you know, he's right, it does, unfortunately. By the way the wording of the Treaty regarding "Medical Care" says that each band will receive a fully equipped medicine bag, our fore fathers didnt know about the Medical Care system we have today ... have YOU read the treaties? Either the natives signed the treaties or they didnt, cant have it both ways .. If the natives get to make land claims based on the fact that they "were here first", what do the Norwegians get to claim, seeing as they "were here second". Doesnt leave much for the late comers does it? -
Charles Anthony is following me around the forum, posting stupid posts to everything I say, accusing me of being a Chinese Government Official, a spy and ripping apart everything I say, with, I might add, absolutely NO intellectual content in any of his posts that are made in response to mine. If you care to check my IP you will see I am in Canada and I am a Canadian. From another thread : I thought there were rules against this kind of singling out and bashing a member. Seems to me I read something about that in the Rules and Regulations. I realize there are all kinds of people in this world and on this forum .. but I do object to this kind of bullying and harassment from this person, from the very first post I made.

I havent read this whole thread, its too long, but I really want to add something. In Adams Lake, BC native leased land for non-native people to build homes on, then they burned the bridge that provided access, shot at the residents, broke into their homes and destroyed them - These people had and do have mortgages they are still paying on, homes they have no access to, those that are left and no compensation for their losses. In BC natives leased land to non-natives to build homes on and then overnight raised the leases, despite the contracts they had signed, by as much as 5 times the original amount. When I drive through the reserve in the interior I see new houses, satelite dishes outside almost all of them and $40,000.00 pick up trucks, SUVs and RVs. I see most natives wearing all the brand name clothing. I see them pushing their shopping carts heaped up with steaks and junk food, cases of soft drinks .. I heard or read somewhere that natives have claimed 220% of Canada because some of the land claims are overlapping. Natives not connected to the Kamloops band showed up to blockade access to Sun Peaks and development there, claiming it as "their land". The Kamloops band went on both TV and radio saying they did not support this blockade/protest and told the protestors to in effect "get off their land". One band in BC received funding, naturally, to set up their own school and appointed as "Education Co-Ordinator" a young woman, single mother, four kids, with about a grade 7 education. Her qualifications? She's native. There's a good use of tax payers money. The school has never been built btw. The money was received in 2004. The natives receive free housing, no interest mortgages if they live off the reserve, free post secondary education, free medical and dental and no questions asked welfare assistance. They dont pay taxes. In BC very few natives take advantage of the free post secondary education. Yet seats in every college and university are reserved for native students and sit empty while non-native students cant get into the classes because "they are full". A person could write a book about "The Native Plight" in Canada, or "Canada's Apartheid System". The priviliged class of course is native, and we're their slaves working to support them. Natives from BC made fools of themselves complaining to Nelson Mandella about how oppressed they were and how bad they had it in Canada. Mandella was NOT impressed given the plight of blacks in Africa. The natives receive BILLIONS every year while disabled non-native and poor non-native Canadians are kicked off welfare and are lviing in extreme poverty. An able bodied native male receive MORE in Social Assistance and benefits than a disabled non-native single mother in Canada does. The Saskatchewan Federated Indian College is crammed to the roof with natives wanting and obtaining post secondary education. Every one of the graduating class of 2002 had a job before they graduated .. so DONT tell me natives DONT have equal opportunity and DONT fit into Canadian society, and cant get jobs. Bottom line is the majority have an over inflated sense of entitlement, and have no desire to work or contribute to a society and a country who's back they are, for the majority, riding on ... Other people with a history of oppression have managed to get over it. The Irish, East Indians, Asians .. and yes, even some natives have managed to be successful and productive. So "get over it", what happened a hundred years ago or more has NOT impacted your own lives, other than the never ending pity party you indulge in. The natives I grew up with had the same education, the same life style, the same friends, the same opportunities as any non-native did. Many many non-native have grown up in families where alcohol and drugs and poverty were an issue. A native woman who was nominated Prom Queen actually wrote an article on how she was abused in a Native Residental School, yet she attended the SAME high school I did. A native male I know told me he was approached by a lawyer and told he could get $20,000.00 if he would go to court and claim he was put into and abused in a Residentail School. This man has never seen a residental school. For one thing he is much too young. What about the natives claiming exploration for oil and extraction of oil was part of their "native culture and heritage"? The good news is the claims are becoming so outrageous and so bogus everyone is getting fed up with them, even the oh so Politically Correct bleeding hearts ..... Has anyone bothered to find out what has happened in the Stein Valley since the natives won their claim to it? Logging is what has happened. The natives took over and reopened the mill there .. The interior of BC was devestated by fire in 2003, a lot on "indian land" which is still completely bare, no reforestation being done, no habitat for wildlife being restored. Its a waste land now. You will NEVER claim Canada as your own, and all you are doing is fostering racism - people are sick and tired of your whining - People across Canada cheered when the white boys started beating on the native protestors. If its a race war you want then keep on doing what you're doing ....... Enough is enough, get the hell off my land. Stop shooting at and terrorizing my people. Call me "mad as hell" and fed up with being a "white slave" for a bunch of free loading whiners and liars. -
I think we all know they didnt come out of Harper's personal pocket, but the tax payers. Maybe the problem is that too many people think our Government should be run like a business, and the PM is the head CEO with an unlimited expense account. When it comes to Public Office you should be accountable to the people who's money you're spending on your perks, just as in business you are accountable for your expense account. More than a few business people have found themselves unemployed because of padding their expense accounts. This kind of joy riding on the Tax Payers tab has become far too common and its time to put a stop to it, and make Politicians accountable for their actions. People who can barely feed their families should not be picking up the tab for Politicians fun and games. Hell forget the poor, they arent important, your average working slob shouldnt be picking up the tab .. Liberal, NDP, Conservative, God himself, I dont care who it is, no free rides on the back of Canadians. A dangerous person is one who worships "his leader" and considers he or her can do no wrong, never questions anything they do but follows blindly and mutely believing they are perfect in all that they do. A dangerous leader is one who fosters this kind of blind adoration and compliance from his supporters. I do believe you just got your first "f**k you Canada" from Harper

trade sick, disabled for working illegals

You hit the nail on the head, people wont hire you. Despite all the lip service about equality and hiring diabled workers, companies will NOT hire them - oh they will hire them, but if they need any special accomodation they fire them. The thought process is {b}"we will hire a disabled worked as long as they can work as long as and as hard as, and do the same work a fully able bodied person can do, and as long as they require no acoomodation or special consideration on our part[/b]." An employer cannot ask about race, sexual orientation or race, but they CAN and DO ask "Do you have any physical or mental condition that will affect your ability to perform to our expectations?" If you say "yes" you are out the door ....... end of interview. Take the case of a person who is in a work accident, he/she is left with a permanent upper body disability that limits his/her ability to perform repetitive arm movements for an extended period of time, they suffer from a chronic pain condition, and chronic fatigue as a result of the accident. WCB says this person CAN work as long as they dont have to sit for extended periods of time, doesnt have to stand, doesnt have to do any lifting, can take frequent breaks, rest when they need to, and can take off work for short periods of recovery when necessary, when the pain becomes debilitating. And as long as an employer will accomodate their needs with an ergonomic chair and adjustments to a computer, they should be able to keyboard for up to an hour at a time without needing a break - He/she has an advanced education, so the Government will NOT provide education or training for him/her........ He/she has gotten the degrees, worked all his/her life, owns a home, had a pension plan, RRSPs and investments, did volunteer work in his/her spare time, has two children to put through college, a car, and a mortgage ... IF this injured worked is female, she can no longer do all the housework and childcare, never mind work AND do housework and childcare ......... But there is no assistance available or given to this person. She is on her own. Within a year the RRSPs are gone, the investments are gone, the college fund is gone and the bank is foreclosing on the house . WCB and Social Services says she can work. She cant even carry her own groceries into the house, do the vacuuming, or walk two blocks, but she can work AND raise two children and do all the attendant housework AND childcare and maintain her home. What was her crime? She worked everyday, and went to work one day and had an accident due to employer negligence that left her permanently disabled ...and the Government and people like our uneducated friend Geoffrey say "$11,000.00 a year is more than enough for her and her kids to live on, who does she think she is? Goddamn free loaders ...." The problem is she cant even get the $11,000.00 a year! Disabled women in Canada are forced to become "domestic prostitutes" in order to have a place to live and something to eat ....... the divorce rate for disabled women is almost ten times that of disabled men ... so the only choice they have is to find a man to support them and give them a place to live ... and the statistics on abuse of these women is horrendous ........ Welcome to Canada ....... we dont give a sh*t about our poor, our disabled or our starving children ...the Government doesnt care and the majority of Canadians dont care, because it isnt happening to them. -

You are right tho Riverwind, China is merging communism with capitalism, which further illustrates what I have been saying, that times they are achanging, in China and all over the world ... you have to admit its an interesting concept - Lets not forget that BC has government controlled insurance - Government in business isnt a foreign concept here in Canada ...
