  1. Funny. What you believe is inevitable, I believe is unlikely. Furthermore, you fear it and I dream of it.
  2. That sounds like a prescription for anarchy! Can you imagine what would happen if politicians actually told the truth???!!???
  3. I am open to that. If the numbers show that it is cheaper, I would go for it. People do that often by leasing cars for a few years and then exchanging them for a new lease. At the risk of thread drift, the Tories are following through on that strategy (originally planned by the Liberals) with a few federal government buildings: selling the buildings and becoming tenants. One advantage is that the government, as tenants, are no longer saddled with non-governmental duties and expenses like building maintenance. ---and what reason would that be? If we are fighting foreign commercial wars, I see no reason why we should not employ those local labor forces. That is almost an oxymoron.[i can only speak for myself]The truth is that most third world cheap quality imports are good enough for me. Everything is relative. The alternative is a Western world that would not be able to support its lifestyle and population. Both you and I would probably not be here today pecking at a computer otherwise. We may not even have been born.
  4. Geo, The sad story is even more pathetic when you consider these employees would still have been receiving some of the top pay in the North America market for their field. Thel, Businesses should be allowed to decide whether or not to Laborers should also be allowed to decide whether or not to use unions without being victims of violence. By the way, I do not consider you a "leftist" at all. I see you as a rat trying to survive a race and finish as best as he can.
  5. I am suggesting that it is foolhardy to expect a john to trust ANYBODY else with the john's privacy. You provided some of the proof: public humiliation. That tactic only works because johns want to hide. Some males actually cry too.
  6. Try this: Dion ringmasterSomebody send me a PM and tell me whether the link works for you or not. I will try to explain what I did but first, you have to understand that the link is more than just a link --- it contains instructions on starting up a specific media player and telling that particular player what media file to load based on your choice of download quality and so forth. The reason why the link contains all of that is because they want it to look pretty in a particular browswer. Anyway, if you take the long link and divide it up, you will get a few separate parts, two of which refer to the locations of the media files: mms://ctvbroadcast.ctv.ca/video/2007/02/01/ctvvideologger2_500kbps_2007_02_01_1170356930.wmv (high video speed) and mms://ctvbroadcast.ctv.ca/video/2007/02/01/ctvvideologger2_218kbps_2007_02_01_1170355256.wmv (low video speed) Everything else is instructions on how to display them on the page and the pop-up window. The mms part just indicates the media player should be the vehicle instead of the browser. What I did was change the mms into an http which tells your browser to download the file. Therefore, Dion ringmaster (high video speed) or Dion ringmaster (low video speed) Call me a multi-media geek.
  7. Why not? It seems like nobody else can be trusted. Thank you for the sound financial advice.Lord, look what has become of your people: They now believe that taxation should be called "how to spend our money" as opposed to extortion of their very own hard-earned cash. Blind obedience to the State at its finest. The Devil himself would be proud of such an elusive trick. Did you ever stop to consider that income tax planning should NOT even be necessary? Many people work hard enough at their jobs as it is. Tax planning is analogous to a thief stealing from you and also forcing you to deliver your possessions to the thief's house. Given that income taxes have such a treacherous disincentive upon productivity, we should demand simple if not lower income taxes.
  8. -- and a very difficult question to answer, certainly not one which can possibly elicit a straight answer from you.
  9. Ooooohhhh Kaaaayy...... Let me put it to you a different way. Would you feel confident that your discretion was safe from prying eyes, if, say, you found out that I worked at the check-out counter of your hypothetical "legal" brothel? or, better yet... Would you feel confident that your discretion was safe from prying eyes, if, say, you found out that the Koebel brothers worked at the check-out counter of your hypothetical "legal" brothel?
  10. Blind submission to the state at its finest. Simple: your "legal service" requires registration and the way it is now does not.
  11. Either you are deliberately trying to be silly or you are not logical. If you just observe the behavior of both johns and prostitutes NOW, you would clue in that they try to hide their behavior. The fact that UNDERCOVER officers have to pose as prostitutes to catch johns also suggests that hiding is part of what the johns want to do. Furthermore, your "recognize a john" deal plays on public humiliation. Logically, the johns want to be unknown.
  12. Fine. That would still be both a waste of resources AND an injustice. If the Taxman forces us to do is own work, at the very least he can make it easier for everybody to calculate how much taxes we must lose. If you have to study 1 second or hire a financial advisor JUST TO SAVE INCOME TAXES that is ridiculous and unfair. It would be different if MarGrace was planning some speculative investment business venture. She is just trying to save money. Years ago, I was told by a banker that if I bought these RRSPs, I would end up with a refund that year. So, I bought them. Lo and behold! I got no refund that year! This banker did not look at my entire portfolio. In retrospect, maybe I should have taken that bank to small claims court... In the long run, the free-wheeling RRSP-peddlers are going to gradually see their customer base erode. Unfortunately, it will be at the expense of the wee-folk who get duped along the way.
  13. Dear Flea, I figured that. I was trying to sardonically roll with it. Methinks that dry StevenWrightian humor is probably the worst thing to print.... you really have to experience it live.... We all have a leash. Excellent advice! Yours trolly, Ch. A.
  14. I just heard a radio interview where the union leader confirms that they knew before the vote that the plant would have to close. Pig ProgressPeople have to get out of the stone-age before their lemming-like devotion to unions takes them all down in flames.
  15. Dear Flea, Would you vote for me if there was such a contest? Not only will I "reduce taxes" but I promise to "clean up government" and "work for justice" and "renew leadership" and "bring people together" and "move the country forward" and "ensure prosperity for the future" and "together we can" build "a kinder, gentler nation" with "no child left behind" and "a chicken in every pot" while I promise to "speak softly and carry a big stick" at all times. "Vote For Change!" The act of "firing pot-shots in all directions" is NOT moderation. This is not the first time that your confused misperception of anarchy or anarchists gets the best of you. I doubt it will be your last. Yours trolly, Ch. A.
  16. Just a guess: maybe because he got caught violating somebody's freedom. Some people do not like that. With a state, all you can do is pay off the drug-dealer to go away. That is usually the only way you can deal with state-created problems. Without a state, the two of you would not likely violate eachother's freedom. On second thought, maybe I am missing the boat. Is it more than your own freedom that you claim to be rightfully yours?
  17. That is not reasonable. How could anybody trust that "their identity will be kept confidential" by this institution? I would not.
  18. You are right. I was mistaken for suggesting that it could present the exact same challenge to the 3rd party advertizing law. However, I am NOT mistaken in suggesting that if there is a lawsuit, the evidence becomes public information. That could be the strategy.
  19. This is where your concept of freedom and economics spins you out from one galaxy to an other. Wrong. If nobody trades anything for those shoes, NOBODY earns money. You can only earn money if somebody gives you money -- it does not matter what you give. People make money by dancing on stage. People pay money to watch. People make ugly shoes. People do NOT pay money for those shoes. People make money by lending money to other people. People pay interest charges to spend money they do not have. Banks provide a REAL service to real people.
  20. For what it is worth, I am going to pipe in here. The banks (central or private or real or imaJennary) are not creating money out of "nothing" per se but rather out of our "faith" that they will stay solvent. If we invest in a shoe-making business, we have faith that people will demand shoes in the future. It is the same with banks. If we put money into Enron stocks, we have faith that Enron will continue to exist. Banks are a relatively safe bet regardless of their reserve structure.
  21. More than two hours, to be precise. You forgot: "and having a lot of time."
  22. I miss David666Michel and I wonder if he would have anything to add to this thread.
  23. Parents who use corporal punishment should be wary of their neighbors who choose to stop it. As a person who uses excessive sarcasm myself, I can say that it is the worst way to convey a message in writing -- unfortunately, I think I am addicted. It is analogous to a stand-up comedian telling an inside joke. With that in mind, this statement: is most indicative to me of your message and I will comment upon it. If I am wrong in my assumption, please correct me. Here I go. I am fine with 100% elimination of the State from how a person raises or abuses a child, if that is what you want. As a result, I am very comfortable with the following: 1) between a child and his parent, the child deserves the benefit of the doubt of being innocent 2) a child has the right to self defense -- like anybody else 3) a good samaritan has the right to come to the aid of a child Therefore, if somebody is suspected of abusing/disciplining a child, a passerby has my blessing to kick down the door and stop it on behalf of the child. I do not care who is right or wrong. Corporal punishment of a child is sooooooo exceedingly obscene, I do not care about due process. I care more about self-defense of a child. To me, it is the same as walking down the street and seeing a big man beating up a helpless small man. I do not care about the issue which led to the altercation. The violence should be stopped.
  24. -- and what if they do not fear running from the most foul authority of them all.... your State? Most cities naturally develop such a district without state intervention. There is no need to mess with nature.
  25. With all due respect, WhoDoneIt, I can not help but think that prostitutes and johns who did NOT want your regulation will likely just continue what they are doing now. Then what?
