  1. who? they offered to turn osama over to pakistan for trial. Also the fbi claimed pakistan was responsible for the attack not osama. and the attackers so said trained for the attack in the us not afghanistan and no one in afghanistan had contact with the hijackers. where are most people from the west killed by terrorists? definately if they arn't just covert nato forces (oh and irish have never been called terrorists before --- and what harm will a bunch of irish people fighting in libya and syria be to the west...? but iranians arn't terrists, they are iranians , no? why are only islamic groups able to count as terrorists? as for how an emp works, yes I do and you don't seem to understand why using one to take down the drone would have been more practicle than beeaking it into a billion peices then trying to find them. your argumentation seems to be --- muslims killed -- not terrorism islams kill therefor terrorists do I understand you right? I'm suprised you are forgetting 911 facts like jews were al told not to report for work that day also a billion and 1 non lethal technologies exist and the us kill osama and dump his body in the ocean... most wanted man etc...
  2. So why is Israel making a big deal about it and why use a jet fighter and missile to take it down, wouldn't a simple EMP be enough to take down a future shop ... uhm what future shop do you shop at... I'd like to see this drone for sale at future shop... future shop... really.... did the rocket come from there too? That phython (probably) fired probably cost like $10,000. Using these sorts of things if you can pick em up for a few hundred dollars at future shop that will be an attrition based victory pretty quick, also where in Beirut is Future shop?
  3. So why is/was NATO in Afghanistan again? Also what if syrians were involved in Attacks in Turkey, like the 4 Turks that were reported to be killed in Allepo today. Is this not part of the war on Terror, stopping terrrorism around the world and in the middle east, or where exactly are those anti terror activites suppose to happen? Surely Turkish militants in Allepo, Syria must be terrorists, as they can't be rebels, much like the Irish in Syria, they can't be rebel's they arn't Syrian... So why does the global war on syria stop at Turkey's porous border? Exactly how many terrorists are there that can take on one Aircraft carrier let alone 3, and 21 nations other boats... gaurenteeing shiping lanes against the Terrorist Armada, it is ridiculous.. terrorists of the Indian Ocean??? Where the Maldives? Well what do you think would be needed to stem off an Iranian and Syrian push? Or say a mass Islamist anti Israeli stint. Apparently Hezbollah has drone aircraft these days.... And yes there have been "terror attacks" in the US what about the Batman guy. or the guy who killed people and shot the US congress member. or that US militarty doctor who opened up on base. I would question though how many terror attacks in the US happened prior to 9/11 and who committed them in the US...
  4. McKay didn't say it was for anti terror operations, he said it was for maritime security. What no ships for Syria? What if Israel attacks Iran... how is canada going to respond? Is Cyprus not too close to the war front to deploy from? "War on Terror" You mean that war that has escalated the prevalence of Terrorism in the middle east a billion fold... come now?
  5. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-204_162-57526980/zombies-teach-cpr-in-creepy-public-service-announcement/ I would have never found this is I wasn't wondering what American's are thinking of Canadians. It takes the Ontario Health PSA's .... and takes an odd twist.. What gets me is that this is suppose to be a federal health announcement... do people not know to call 911 if someone has a heart attack or is there another reason for this? And I stand corrected this is heart and stroke NOT health Canada. I apologize. Has anyone seen this on TV? If so what channel? Since my original tangent was lost, is funding charities that get public tax dollars, such as this a good use of tax dollar or no?
  6. What weapons were supplied. Does Syria have a shortage of weapons? Is 2 million firearms not enough?
  7. It is awfully problematic to quote without evidence ---- afterall Omars Father is dead, he was known as a philanthropist and active volutneer in positive social endevours before the invasion of Afghanistan. Where is the evidence? Minors arn't forced they have no vote. Parents exercise gaurdian ship. I just saw a 4 year girl old shooting a rifle at the range, is this radicalization? I think people just like to paint these things but kids all over Canada are playing war games shooting "toy guns, and real ones". Being told Muslims are bad people and terrorists. It is no differnet, it is a non argument a case of the pot calling the kettle black. Who has better training, the terrorists kids or the ones that grow up to kill them? same ---- different pile. What is the difference between what happened in Afghanistan and what happened in Canada ---- which country was invaded? Omar Khadr acted in self defence against a delta force operation that resulted in the deaths of everyone around him, and the death of one of the attackers, in a foreign country where the US has no jurisdiction. he was tried outside the US constitution and outside the international law of war outside canadian law, and Canadian laws regarding child soldiers. Legally Omar was not criminal, he was justified and acted in self defence. People villifying him simply don't understand the real facts of what occured. By opting as the US as being the good guys in this story, you ignore the fact the US acted outside of international sanction, it acted outside of international law, it acted outside of its own domestic law. I'd throw a grenade at a delta force that was killing people and most likely myself too if it was all I had. Although it wasn't greatly established this was what occured, afterall the case was a plea bargain to remove the guy from an illegal court process after a couple years of unlawful detainment torture and human rights abuses. Wake the hell up if you still see Omar as a bad guy. He was a 15 year old Marked kid that had his family killed around him. I applaud him for having the bravery to resist. If the US invaded Canada I would applaud 15 year Canadian kids who did the same. My grandfather was 15 when he enlisted in WWII. None the less it was illegal then and it is now... BUT SELF DEFENCE AT ANY AGE IS NOT ILLEGAL IT IS JUSTIFIED. US HAD NO LAWFUL AUTHORITY TO MURDER AFGHANI'S NOT BY AFGHANI LAW AND NOT BY INTERNATIONAL LAW. The only problem is that it was a Canadian ally, not the eneny. If it was some Al Qaeda terrorist killed in that attack by Omar, he'd be a hero. I'm not condoning murder but I am advocating for self defence against foreign aggression as well as unlawful use of force, especially unlawful use of lethal force. The US was the offender, Omar was the defender. He was fully justified to beleive his life to be in immenent threat of ceasation. He was fully justified to kill them. Every one who is unlawfully assaulted and who causes death or grievous bodily harm in repelling the assault is justified if (a. ) he causes it under reasonable apprehension of death or grievous bodily harm from the violence with which the assault was originally made or with which the assailant pursues his purposes; and (b. ) he believes, on reasonable grounds, that he cannot otherwise preserve himself from death or grievous bodily harm. [R.S. c.C-34, s.34.]
  8. The real problem is that people are in prisons. We need civilized ghulags in the remote areas and in the north of Canada where ministers of any faith can move to these communities to gospel and establish congregations, house of worship, synagogs, mosques, shrines, temples or what have you. Only people stuck in Infirmary or opting for protective custody should be in prison and those people should be able to have any minister visit them. If ministers want to work in these facilities, they should be given visting hours to do their holy work. There is no need for a "prison" chaplain, but rather a willing religious community and the willingness of the prison system to provide access and expanded visiting hours for activities such as education, religious persuit, or health and rehabilitation activities. The fact Chaplains have the option to see people or not, and gaurds deny access to chaplains just shows it is a selective process that doesn't provide for open access. It is broken and I call on the government to correct their backward and evil ways. We need enlightened government not a bigoted and out of touch minority religous right when it comes to public governance. An immoral and inhumane government has no grounds to establish punishment for immorality less they themselves are subjected to the equivolent. Religions are not equal in view or objective. An untrained priest is of no use in Jewish rites, a non muslim cannot understand the needs of a Muslim, a Imam will not be able to provide equal religious guidance on Jesus as would a catholic priest to a Catholic, a catholic cannot provide equal guidance on dogmatic issues to a non catholic. These are real differences. Prisons must be opened up to ministers of all faiths, and state and church must be seperate. While Canada is Anglican Constiutionally, all religions have been granted equal recognition under the charter. R. v. Big M Drug Mart "the right to manifest religious belief by worship and practice or by teaching and dissemination" I was dumbfounded when a Rabbi couldn't understand the dietary requirements of a Jain practicing Ahimsa and Jain dietary restrictions. They felt it was unreasonable --- that was religious practice, obviously a christian or Rabbi won't understand the diet of an adherant Jain. Meanwhile Jews get koshure meals, etc.. it is bigoted. The entire system is biased against religious groups that arn't their own and that is unacceptable. Someone should not be forced to starve because their religious practices are "unreasonable" to the other persons faith.
  9. You're calling the guy who beat up Patrick Brazeau a girly boy? http://www.google.ca/imgres?q=patrick+brazeau&um=1&hl=en&sa=N&biw=1217&bih=605&tbm=isch&tbnid=QIIZsTTx9GOYoM:&imgrefurl=http://www.hilltimes.com/heard-on-the-hill/2012/01/23/in-this-ring-trudeau-and-brazeau-hope-to-float-like-butterflies-sting-like/29368&docid=W5c3L7Rl80cqmM&imgurl=http://www.hilltimes.com/sites/hilltimes.com/files/story_image/00_9boxing.jpg&w=660&h=440&ei=kM5vUIykIKHtygHbzoDoAw&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=7&sig=113304162272829897800&page=1&tbnh=128&tbnw=161&start=0&ndsp=20&ved=1t:429,r:3,s:0,i:80&tx=112&ty=91 Even if his grandma did die the night before he still gave him a black eye. he looks sorta gallo roman imo http://www.google.ca/imgres?q=patrick+brazeau&um=1&hl=en&sa=N&biw=1217&bih=605&tbm=isch&tbnid=xNl9ychkeKYI0M:&imgrefurl=http://www2.macleans.ca/tag/patrick-brazeau/&docid=0Bx4M91EOgZObM&imgurl=http://www2.macleans.ca/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/IMG_6442-660x439.jpg&w=660&h=439&ei=kM5vUIykIKHtygHbzoDoAw&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=1&sig=113304162272829897800&page=1&tbnh=128&tbnw=170&start=0&ndsp=20&ved=1t:429,r:10,s:0,i:102&tx=119&ty=83 all he needs is he has a tatoo -- metro sexual maybe but he represents montreal.... its acceptable. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metrosexual you could picture him in something like this quite easily http://www.google.ca/imgres?q=roman+legionaire&um=1&hl=en&sa=N&biw=1217&bih=605&tbm=isch&tbnid=AQgbmUdUHxND1M:&imgrefurl=http://www.quia.com/pages/lukeionromanwar.html&docid=91SWrm_Ivn6xTM&imgurl=http://www.quia.com/files/quia/users/lukeionregan/RomanWarfare/RomanLoricaSegmentataTrans.gif&w=226&h=392&ei=-M9vUNe9EcnzyAHVnYHACw&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=1&sig=113304162272829897800&page=1&tbnh=118&tbnw=68&start=0&ndsp=29&ved=1t:429,r:20,s:0,i:135&tx=53&ty=57 he also played a solidier on tv..
  10. The problem exists in that women may not know they are pregnant until perhaps 20 weeks so unless they are dosing with the morning after pill or trippling their birth control pills if they use them -- the day after they are inseminated, they won't catch before it has developed perhaps. but what if it is an aids baby or fatality due to disease, you want to put the mother through pregnancy to live the pain of watching their child die? at thousands upon thousands to tax payer and the mother? some mother might choose that but child birth ain't taking a dump ---------- its not right but the world ain't either ----------- if god can't provide for a womans needs to raise a child god shouldn't hold it against people who don't this world ain't egalitarian, people want to live not servetude. wome arn't just baby despensers there is more to their lives and values. ------ none the less I would carry the child to term but I'm not a capitalist or a materialist, I do think I understand why some women may not seek to carry a child to term though, lots of non real judeo-christians islamists in the world there does appear to be abortion in the bible though ex. infidelity and only married people are suppose to have sex.. http://dwindlinginunbelief.blogspot.ca/2008/10/bibles-guide-to-abortion.html when a wife goeth aside to another instead of her husband, and is defiled; Or when the spirit of jealousy cometh upon him, and he be jealous over his wife, and shall set the woman before the LORD, and the priest shall execute upon her all this law. Then shall the man be guiltless from iniquity, and this woman shall bear her iniquity\ iNTERPRETATION? So is this the only aceptable form of abortion - priest poisoning women? Isn't that a twist ... from my brief research LYE is part of the agent in the biblical out of wedlock abortion (infidelity), but we arn't sacrificng rams at the temple these day either http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lye
  11. The debate would have been when does a fetus become a "human being" equal at law to everyone else. It is indeed that they have minor satus when they are in the woom, and they are human beings between 5 and 8 weeks but are in full custody equivolent to siamese twins - however the mother speaks and holds the rights of the baby until between age 12 and 16. Generally abortions should only happen if there is a threat to life, to one of them, as doctors would nlt allow a surgical detachment of a siamese twin if it was certain one would die--- however since euthenasia is legal, the mother can actually decide for the child , but the mothers right to gaurdian status could be challenged if there were grounds for mental incompetence, or clear damage. The case for abortion has been heard, the idea remains good abortion vs. selfish abortion. that is largely culture though. I think it is the womans choice but men should step in or others if they feel the would be mother is mentally unsound. http://www.duhaime.org/LawMag/LawArticle-1285/A-Common-Law-Tragedy-Life-Death-and-Siamese-Twins-Rosie-and-Gracie-Attard.aspx it is horrific but mother at times have various reasons, unless the government wants to fund solutions to those problem they don't have the moral authority. I do think abortion is far to liberally carried out but it is impossible for a man to know what pregnancy is but these are complex situations. It is up until the second trimester more or less just tissue biologically, afterward the nervous system and brain are developed. If this world wern't so limited greedy insane and corrupt and hellish more people would carry babies to term. do you want women who would kill their kills raising their kids cause they couldn't bear using a coat hanger? what about the crack babies, the aids babies, the defect babies that will see them dead in 3 years at 2 million dollars in omedjcal clsts, the vain list goes on and on if god is so right and holy why does he make these things only to die in pain after a short life. I am personally pro life a d socially pro choice but the situation does have humanitarian grounds in some cases. give people better lives, eradicate poverty and people will be more confident in actually bring more people into this issued world. even god called for fruit first.
  12. It is some what distressing when the people turkey are backing are doing things like this.. http://www.nst.com.my/latest/syria-rebels-threaten-to-execute-iranians-1.153319 that is behaviour you expect from criminals and terrorists not governments in waiting. if 41 Americans were executed america would whipe them out, iran would be fully justified to headlong deploy to syria in droves to whipe them out if they do that. This a repeat of Libya and their kinder gentler human rights abusers Oh and the topic -- why does a beef recall get more attention than a effective state of war among NATO. Its a big deal and crickets in Canada. Pretty darn close to cyprus too. Or is this just wear them down tucker them out or do jets go in the moment russia and china let the unsc motions pass now that a causi belli exists for nato is it true fear of china and russia that is preventing intervention or is it just all propaganda from the west Or is it fear of chemical a d biological weapons stockpiles of syria? It looks like a two faced arugment from the west and yet another 3 days three incidences http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/10/06/us-syria-crisis-turkey-mortar-idUSBRE89503H20121006 Its turning into gaza east.
  13. "attacks" Any Irony this will be drowned out for thanksgiving,,,? goebble goebble goebble http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-19849748 Is attacking turkey really wrong...? I had a good discussion with a Syrian who looked like he could fitnin with orthodox jews if he grew is sidelocks, and he thinks the gov intentionally did it, not a mistake, I didn't beleive him, why would you do this. But he inclines for me to think it is to remove the turkish threat of action by creating a context of turkish involvement only if Syria actively attacks turkey rather than imposition of a Nato imposed zone. So by Syria setting the conditions that give NATO the minimum if what it is trying to get, it defuses escalation with NATO. Now I am not so sure about that sunce they want to bomb Iran, and Iran is moving troops and plausibly weapons to arm them into syria. But none the less, very suprising. I'm suprised Canada isn't biting into this Turkey deal... too much on their plates? It becomes a question of who ants before and after... nov 5th... but why does canada have ships in the indian ocean? I can;t seem to identify it as being part of altair http://www.navy.forces.gc.ca/cms/4/4-a_eng.asp?id=503 McKay "fleet conducting maritime security operations in the region" Operation Artemis
  14. So Syria invoked NATO apparently, this while Iraq has gotten cozy with Iran. PS Iraq has body armour now, but for real, what is Canada doing, I remember seeing the tanks rolling on over to the west the begining of September, have they started rolling back to the ME, has the gravel and dirt been emptied from the shipping containers, have the insurance policies on the soon to be retired cf18's been renewed. NATO grandly said, we will be there for Turkey if it fails on it's own, so where is Canada's mobilization, where is the parliamentary debate on sending Canada's brave warriors to the shores of Syria and into the heat of battle in Allepo and Homs. Where's the beef? Still no chemical or biological weapns (as far as we know) but those are for Israel and the US, not their friends the Turks right... So where are the Canadian Steeds of War? Only talk of new low budget Air Canada lines to slect places in the Caribean and Europe? Surely this will cost less, its not landlocked and just under 1000 canadians are in nonncombat deployment just across the border from Iran in Afghanistan. So the question is, where is the call to arms, France was attacked with a Mortar! read the news save the blue hyperlinks for the cryptic. (PPS syria also was the point of origin of mortars that hit ISRAEL TOO!! surely that is something Canada can get upset about..! No one seems to have heard about the attack on Israel as unlike Turkey Israel just said, stay way from the border. Turkey did the same but apoarently a family of 5 got hit, so now there are unconfirmed reports the Turkish media has claimed up to 10km of syria. Israel kept the peace cause they were probably worse aimed than Hamas and Hezzbollah so Israel didn't deem a response necesary... Cause Israel loves islamists...) Where's the beef? IS IT BEING RECALLED?
  15. Where is the abuse I've known people who have tried to refuse ODSP, you know where they go if they arn't getting that... places like London, or pennetang and if you wonder why so many are in London, that is where the province ships them instead of jail, they have a mental health facility there where they put people after they remove their constitutional rights. Most people on ODSP have been manhandled in violation of their basic rights, anyone who has had forced medical injections contrary to their wishes and isn't getting paid afterward for the abuse is someone who needs to get paid, not 12000 a year but millions for the violation and unethical medical practice. They are treated like cattle. These arn't criminals they are weird people in a totalitarian world where science rules. Weird is not mentally fit to mix with the normals, it would be disruptive and force people to be nice and adapt, psychiatrists would be ruined, the 1-2 million a year the doctors make off them and the province would dry up. We can't have that. Social outcasts and aliens 10k a year provincially funded torturers and keyholders 1-2 million... who is getting the better deal? Look how much the diversions for non criminals (re no convictions) and the medical system is costing compared to odsp, who exactly is getting the handout? The legitimate people??? If you know these people, are you a doctor? If not you have no basis to determine these people to the legislation so you should take your opinion to where it belongs the realm of politics not disability. Read the legislation. Drug users are screwed up, you think crack heads are "normal?" do you have any clue how much drugs mess up peoples neurochemistry? The doctors dose up the people to screw them up the other way.. but often they have no clue what the effects will be other than screwing them up and tranquilizing them and making them incapable of doing all too much mentally or physically. That is what these people are going through. This while their liver is being killed. If you have people abusing and faking provide a case example because it is simply rhetoric you are spouting. The lawsuits would far outweigh the 10k a year if these people are all just faking. How'd you like to be straped to a bed for a month with a daily needle up your rump cause your just weird? Or in solitare for a month cause you said your doctor was wrong and they were going to hell if they continued to pull that on people. This program is KGB meets Goebbles It's a convienent way of removing "weird people's" basic rights such as privacy, financial independence, court access, public respect, as to alienate and disenfranchise to limit their effect on social order and norms to allow for a free and liberal society. It all fits together ODSP is just one way of shelving them off in an orderly fashion. You are whining about people getting shelter and food to eat and a pittance of daily allowance rich kids get just for being a byproduct of a sexual act. 10,000 a year to live on in a major urban area is eeking out an existence it ain't luxurious. It is a pathetic existence where materialism quickly becomes a secondary pursuit. If you think its so grand try it for a year -- these people have a lifetime of that, and even if they earn 500 they only earn 100$ if they earn anything under 1000$ a month they only make $100, what incentive is that to work part time? Full time work for people who have disorders is not safe or secure employment and most salaried positions require dependable people which these people generally are not due to recurrence of mental health issues. This is why I recommend social housing programs matched up with microfit for co-op microfit programs for ODSP to have them perform a social function that does not outwiegh their part time capacities. Nor put burdeon on any single disabled person. Also government managed social housing projects will pay for themselves in ccost savings on private landlord rental costs. http://toronto.kijiji.ca/f-real-estate-room-rental-roommates-W0QQCatIdZ36 better yet make sure you pick a weird roommate not a normal. Understand if I tell you you can get 100$ more for working 100 hours per month ($1/hour) or not work what do you pick? Ok remeber to cap your spending money at $1080 a month deduct anything from that amount if you spend less than 480$ on your shelter example 300$ room deduct 180 so $900 for your housing and food and other costs. If you still think it is just extravagence -- tell your boss you are a retard and may need time off each week for medical reasons, or that there may be some days you won't be able to think clearly, you may be drowsy, etc.. just wait for that raise -- but rememer to give it to the government if you get it. People don't choose a social assistance life they have no oher option, the only thing beyond that is street life and with that you are the victim if they survive. I also advocate for ODSP development programs giving the disabled the option of volunteering in the third world and latin america where cost of living is lower and people won't know they are weird. But right who gets their money.. are there no rooms left, no excess food in Canada for christs sake if you think they can work give them a job or shut up. The money goes back to utility companies, farmers and landlords - savings are capped at approx 5000 for life. The program costs as much as 8 bloody doctors makein anyear -- thus is under 20 million a year for the provinces out of fullmtime employment disabled,t they don't get ei, Their doctors are making millions a year on their practices. Doctors get a kickback, that is the issue. Cut doctors fees out of the process and disability rates will go down. Privatize health into a premium based health insurance plan and disability rates will go down. Attacking legitimate victims of the system, diagnosed disabled people with long term and permanent disabilities isnjust assinine. oh and for the send the would be vagrants to jail crowd. 1. no room 2. it costs more. for the send the weirdo's to the nuthouse crowd see jail add medical costs killing them is morally questionable and could result in greater resistance Heir Hitler, Its a broke system but you need to see it in terms of the total results of doing something not the direct effect. Look at the big picture. The system is bad but you don't offer improvements or evidence just rhetoric.
  16. ODSP requires a medical review process. It is doctors that determine if people are functionally disabled. The disability adjudication unit uses the informations supplied by the doctors. If you don't think people are really disabled, question the doctors qualifications, don;t question the victims. People that go through this process can often have their basic rights infringed under the mental health act, they don;t have access to court process because they are deemed mentally unsound. While I agree with you in part I think you saying it is the disabled people is just plain wrong. If you want to say they are normal you need to insure acts like the mental health act can't be used to deprive these people of the power of attorney and right to informed consent to treatment, and completely remove the court diversion process that removes their right to self representation and the ability to defend themselves in court. The $600 hand out they receive for ther food and other basic needs is a paltry i signifigant sum of money. Frankly ODSP is a system that is badly broken and benefits are often withheld without grounds by administrative delays, intentional mishandling, and outright lies. OW provides massively below poverty line re:destitution pay, which withoutaccess to other social programs like social housing and food banks or co-op gardens where available the $500/month will barely pay rent in many cities. For ODSP the up to ~$12000 per year is well below the poverty line by nearly half. These people get up to around $12000 to have their constitutional rights removed, such as privacy, choice of medical treatment, right to legal remedy, you don't have a clue how victimized these people are. Worse the programs themselves have not kept with rising cist of living such as massively increasing food costs.
  17. Wild Bill I think you may be right but it is a possible real world, if only they acquired the borers and started tunneling. I figure it would take a few monthss at 3km /hour to bore a tunnel from Alberta to the coast of BC.. avoiding all the virgin forestland and delicate water systems better yet after it was done, tunnels on old pipelines could be imrpoved using any surviving boring machine. See it saves the land for things like fishing and hunting and picking berries and pot, and saves the surface for the flower chldren of the future. And all this for a 15 million dollar asset that will likely bring in more money than it costs to construct and deploy. Enviromentalists already see big oil as Morlocks so it just goes to improve both sides worldviews. I'm sure there are those who support big oil who view environmentalists as Eloi too. We could use H.G. Wells as a basis for Oil and Resource Policy of the future. Cern a dramtically more complex tunnel system is an example of what is possible. Its not like I'm suggesting we put the environmentalists down a 100meter shaft with picks and spoons. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&v=yRfhrcM2l6U&NR=1
  18. who cares. I'm talking about nuclear powered boring machiens that will improve enviornmental safety. Small scale nuclear reactors especially helium fission reactors are not emissions issues they are radioactive waste issues. A small reactor that fits into the back of a truck and pumps out 30 or so MW of energy 100m underground ain't a large risk, a nd the benefit of an underground tunnel pipelines that are easier to control spils or sabatouge on far outweigh the negative repercussions of not doing anything. (This is hundreds and thousands of KM of pipeline that would oterhwise be exposed surface and subsurface contamination. Industry can't be halted it can only be improved. I think that I would agree stop using technology that didn't come direct from the planet I gained with my own hands if everyone I am exposed to do the same. But een if that were to happen the planet would melt down. My position is squarely that we cannot just stop we have to control the come down. Its comparable to someone who is ODing on drugs, getting them to hold their breath ain't going to help. THe realities that we have to sustain critical resources has to be realized because for instance places like the CDC nuclear reactor sites, storage facilities etc.. all rely on inputs. We have critical food needs, if we stop using petrofertalizers our croplands will be unusuable in many cases, a sustained directed come down is essential. While I agree surface pipelines in critical environmental areas must be stopped progress itself has to be improved and directed and that doesn't equal stoping industry it just means being more effective at industry and determining what are critical industrial needs and what ones are now critical. Also environmental clean up and growth is another critical aspect that needs to be addressed by insuring that industry equals environmental improvement through symbiotic initiatives. The key is to get pipelines as deep into the lithosphere as possible. Even connecting resovoirs and doing subsurface processing is a step up if it keeps emissions out of the troposphere. Think of it as the new rail project not seen since the 1860's its a 150 years later we can build tunnels for pipelines these days. This is a far more pressing concern than a nuclear powered tunneler http://www.myessentia.com/blog/blog/2011/07/10/giant-mega-quarry-on-track-to-pollute-major-ontario-watersheds/ Like even in lui of super heated plasma magnetic pressure plate system atleast do something like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subterrene
  19. Yeah, I think that 0 emissions technologies are available it is just the scale of production and needs don't necessitate stricter controls. Why pay $100 for a portapotty if no one cares if you dump on the ground? I'm sure if emissions were more visible and were in peoples back yards (which they are, people would care more. I think in all this, what actually is unfortunate is that Environmental controls reduced, at a time that there is global consensus that we are approaching a crisis period due to emissions. Also the emissions haven't gone down, they just stopped counting them all and subtracted a ton because Canada has a large uninhabited forest area, and now they can count carbon sequestration (how much carbon trees eat) against total emissions, so the bigger the country is, the more masked the emissions are, and Canada is huge. It is quite unfortunate that more isn't done to encourage 0 emissions technologies as a requirement of operating. They are big money they can afford it. It is a clear warning sign if the chinese consider Canada a lucrative business market for resource exploitation - its China. The next government will need to go to sites like the following to improve environmental policy: http://english.mep.gov.cn/ I recommended to the pipeline org that they use nuclear plasma borers for their pipelines just dig it about 100m underground. Mobile nuclear reactors only cost a few million dollars these days, and they could rig up a tunneler to just make a 10-20 ft circumference tunnel that they can put their pipeline and golf cart roadways in, they could even make service areas. It would be much safer also. Some other modifications are needed but it is doable these days. This is what 50 years ago en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Iceworm
  20. There are automated warning systems in many places. Even the federal government has an arrangement with the weather network operators for their warning system with private media to get the messageout. SMS warnings are not new. The techinology exists to even activate phones that arn't on but have power to them. With new phone techs you don't even need to have power as the phones have rectennas built into them so in addition to being able to eaves drop they can also be turned on remotely to deliver a message or ring etc.. even without battery power. Canada has had an emergency activation system for sometime, althoughthe landline phone service has been reserved for grandfathered persons, they do have an SMS service and cell notification service too. Workplaces and institutions have these systems for their distributed communications system also rolled out in Canada. Not sure if you know what EMS emergency messaging system is a radio protocol that can turn on radios remotely with the tech based upon a radio signal that trips them on. The tech used by Israel is actually very rudimentary as far as I can tell. It is also succeptable to terrorist signal jamming. They would be better off setting up non vibrational sound alerts through distributed communications towers, but its not worth the cost. SMS is an easy warning system but it doesn't warn everyone. Cells can also be used for tracking so it is a security risk. Example a psychotronic pulse wave alert signal the public is told signafies immediate danger, then they just pulse that frequnecy that is deteected is one way. Just relying on SMS is a little weak for proactive warning.
  21. Yeah like I'm going to end up in your backroom tied to a wall.
  22. I don't think so Argus. First I think that the current system fails at reforming people to be contributing members of society in large part it keeps in mind the act, whcih many times was completely justified, just not socially acceptable. I think vegetables should be in rehab and people should be progressed into lives that they will be able to maintain social stability within. Not everyone should be released onto the street but a homophobic rapist may not feel inclined to rape if he has access to hookers and works on a fishing ship. Or what is a embezzler going to do on an oil rig in the middle of the arctic ocean? What danger do loggers posed dendrophelia? I havn't heard of bears being raped by humans. This is why the graduated releae system is so heavily purported by myself. First it takes people out of prisons and has them perform work which is so essential to criminals who can't live off book sales and other contracts recounting their crimes which are few. Second having criminals forced to live and work together exposes them to the worst possible environment they will encounter, and it doesn't endanger the general public. If they can't live with each other for 6 months how do they expect to live with law abiding peoplefor the rest of their life. Since the graduated system penalizes people who get into trouble with both reseting their good behaviour time, and in the case of criminal offences potentially moves them up the block. The people who can't be good won't get out, they will move up further North. While their liberties are not reduced, their communities are composed of those other peoplewho do not agree to the general publics accepted rules of interaction. They still work, they still get money to buy things they'd like, they just arn't able to access the rest of the world, and they help pay for policing and other costs they created, and contribute to for the rest of the public. I think that the good people will get out, and they will stay out as long as the laws are reasonable and not politically or culturally motivated, but based on fundamental justice and human rights. As for the parents of the 14 year old girl. Bad stuff happens to good people all the time. They arn't alone. The differnece is they have a human to hate. The least that can be done is preventing that sort of injustice a second time. But what if it wasn't who you think it was? What if your position is causing innocent people to be locked away like the rapist bernardo's confession got out of jail after he lost 20 years of his life? There is no reason to hurt other humans other than poor values. We as conscious humans should hold compassion. If you arn't angry enough to kill him then you need to let God be the torturer or annihilator in the after life. People that are truely evil will be damned life is short, and you will see your daughter again before you know it, if your faith allows that, my faith doesn't prevent anything, and I beleive all things will work for good, and it is essential that the justice system is based on prevention of human rights abuses, that includes to both victims and accused persons. a minimum 10 year sentence for a serious indictable offence as a baseline is a long time argus the person would be 29 before they were released on a standard sentence. If they don't reform in 10 years I don't see what another 10 will do. Frankly the 8 year minimum graduated release on good behaviour is actually still very long, people get PhDs in a shorter period of time. I really don't know what you are looking for or what you think the justice system should accomplish. But I frankly think the current system only makes things worse for everyone but people being employed by the system and those people supplying contracts for the peoples living costs. It is an insanely stupid and broken system. It is only allowing the circumstances of crime in some cases to no longer be oppourtunities to commmit, that is why recidivism occurs, time does not erase all circumstances for everyone. The current system fails to remove the condictions of crimes occuring based on the individuals circumstances and characteristics. To have a successful corrections system you need to insure it takes people with problems in, and takes away those problems before they are back out on the street. If they don't have problems, prison won't do nothing for them, and if they still have problems when they get out prison has done nothing for them. If you just want to ruin people have compassion and do them off and save the time and money and waste of life. It is only inviting conflict to occur. Protection of life is a lawful defence.
  23. The anneversary of Dieppe is being commemorated by the Governor General, as part of his Olympics followup.
  24. I'd think 250 nuclear weapons could take some ground they are warheads afterall not missiles. A nuclear weapon even if only leveling a 1km^2 or so of land area still effects the srrounding areas too. THe question that remains is, as the f35 begins to be delivered to nations like Israel, will this allow them to increase their capacities against the air defences of othernations without clearing a path with nuclear weapons. 250 bullets is afterall only 250 bullets. Looking at these figures it isn't reassuring that these weapons would be used against anything but a concentration or urban area or base.
