  1. Are you making stuff up again? Sec with vegetables. Come now.
  2. i'm all for the state having more control over kids than parents. but how do you determine what is bad in order to get the state to remove those kids and put them into government foster care?
  3. what if the teacher realized that the policy was hurting students. is it better to take a stand or blindly follow orders from superintendents and principals who are only concerned about graduation rates?
  4. Does the catholic church teach equality FOR ALL and TOLERANCE OF ALL?
  5. The fact that you promote the catholic system makes me know for sure that it isn't all that great.
  6. Sun News and an anti- public school rant. NO wonder no one watches that station. This is what I mean by ignorance of the superior public school system. http://www.sunnewsnetwork.ca/video/1863112169001
  7. What's that supposed to mean? More ignorance?
  8. That's not what it's about. It's about accepting people for who they are and eliminating gender stereotypes. i see this is way above you though.
  9. many people don't realize it but one of the most important objectives of public schools is to make every learner feel safe about who they are without harrassment. i am so proud of an initiative by the TDSB to print stickers and posters for their schools that promote tolerance. this has brought a tear to my eye as i see how far society has come due in large part to the public school system. i'm honoured to be part of the system. thank goodness we don't live where intolerance and hate run rampant. that won't happen in a public school in canada. http://www.tdsb.on.ca/_site/ViewItem.asp?siteid=10471&menuid=34019&pageid=28961
  10. Well, thank goodness you don't run thins. Facebook and twitter are excellent tools for engaging learners. Again you have to lose your 1960s mindset and educate yourself about 21st century learning. http://edudemic.com/2012/04/how-students-can-use-social-media-to-actually-learn-real-world-skills/
  11. What you describe seems to be a societal problem. Schools can't fix the damage done. They need to accomodate. Things like facebook and twitter are now used as tools in schools. I know MANY teachers and schools that see smartphones as a valuable educational tool. You need to realize the facts. teachers are innovative and know how to engage their learners by letting them use smartphones.
  12. Yeah, Ok. I didn't know that before. Anyways, now non educational experts, parents, want to have a say. they do not understand educational practices. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/story/2012/09/25/edm-zero-teacher-meeting.html
  13. You should be fired for that. A learner demonstrates understand and you take away marks because it wasn't handed in when you wanted. That maybe worked in the stone age but not in today's education.
  14. It is great for learners. They get many chances to show evidence of their learning. getting rid of zeros and due dates was a great thing.
  15. you just don't get it, do you?
  16. it's a new article.
  17. There are no repercussions. It's happening and the experts don't care that people like you don't like the policy. What do you know about public education.
  18. I don't play video games. they are for children. some of you should get a real hobby like helping the environment.
  19. I will have no hard times. I graduate in April and will be teaching in public school after that. What is there to learn about this so -called "real" world you constantly yap about? You sound like an old koot who walked to school uphill both ways through 10 feet of snow.
  20. The policy is in place cross Canada. There are many policies that you probably wouldn't like if you knew about them. What are you going to do about it? Bitch on this forum like gosthacked, middleclasscentrist, Mr. Canada and the rest of the know-nothings here?
  21. Our education system, especially public education is ranked 5th in the world. Stop making crap up.
  22. Where did I say 8+8 = 16? i think you need some lessons in reading comprehension. I said if a student completes 8 out of 15 assignments, then the leaner is only assessed on those 8 assignments he completed. He is not given zeros for the 7 he missed. He is given an incomplete, which shows that it is a behaviour issue not a learning issue. Got that?
  23. No the learner gets an incomplete which doesn't negatively affect his mark. That's how a work. Let's say there are 15 assignments and a learner completes 8 of them. The learner is only graded on the 8 assignments he completed. Missing the other assignments is considered a behavioural issue and shouldn't affect what the learner already has done.
  24. Principals, who are educational leaders and experts support the no zero policy. No one deserves a zero. It's good to see common sense prevailing. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/story/2012/09/24/edmonton-teachers-zero-policy.html
  25. Sometimes silly rules need to be broken. I would admire someone who took a stand against something they felt was harmful. People mindlessly following orders resulted in something as terrible as the holocaust.
