  1. I doubt that he meant a reduction of 4% GDP growth - that's pretty extreme. The Estimates I've seen are around 1% including from the spending cuts.(Govt spending is part of GDP). Nobody seems to be saying that the combination of spending cuts and tax increases would immediately improve the economy. The question is what would the longer term effect be - would it send the US into another recession, or would it help to eventually dig them out of it? The spending cuts as predicated would be stupid - just across the board cuts. They need to cut fat and leave muscle. But that's much harder to do, because somebody's fat is always somebody else's muscle. As for tax increases, everybody in the US needs to pay more. But eliminate the stupid deductions, like the mortgage deduction first, lower corp taxes while reducing loopholes there, and make dividends taxable at the same rate as other income. And set up a much more progressive income tax regime.
  2. http://www.vancouver...6592/story.html Truly scary. Would you let this man be your doctor? What does he do, pray over you to "heallllll?" I guess he keeps prescribing the same old antibiotic, since there's no evolution and bacteria don't evolve resistance to it. You have to wonder how a society that lets people like this anywhere near scientific enterprise ever got to the moon. Of course that was then, they'd never get it together to do it now. How do you say moon in Chinese?
  3. Not much deeper meaning there tho, is there? The bible is myth, it's the truth of a people but not literal truth. I'm sure there have been catastrophic floods many times in human history - catastrophic for a tribe or grouping of people. This would get handed down and embellished over time. Primitive people usually looked for a relationship between their behavior and what happens in the natural world, just as children and some adults still do today. So if you believe your people have a personal relationship with God, then God must have had a reason for allowing this flood, ie we must have been bad, and the survivors good. It provides a sense of security, because if I'm good enough, God won't kill me. The smarter ones start noticing that often the good guys get killed and the bad guys live a long and happy life, so they figure out it must be way more complicated than that.
  4. Well, not developed without the Indigenous Peoples' permission. I think they are quite amenable to charging us rent for their land.
  5. Well, they've kicked the cuts down the road a couple of months and raised taxes on 450k+. All this anguish and so little accomplished. Guess they'll just continue to sputter along. If they would just adopt our single payer style health care system, that would be a savings of 1 trillion a year right there, almost eliminating the deficit in one fell swoop.
  6. Not to you, who can deny proportionality on the one hand, then bring it in on another when it suits here
  7. Wait. Now population size matters? What happened to "you do it tooooo..."
  8. Yes. Plus we've been exhorted to have those needs, because supposedly that's what keeps the economy rolling. But when you start buying those needs from China, it's the Chines that can fulfill them, because they have the jobs. And when those wants are seen as needs by 7 billion people, no way we can meet that demand.
  9. Not just homes, but what's in them. But this sort of argument can quickly turn into bashing the poor and middle class for wanting too much. Reducing expectations has to start at the top.
  10. Jeez, I hope you're joking. If not, is that even allowed on this website? I've heard that there are people like this, never would have believed it tho. Either way, it's sad.
  11. It's a job? You get paid for this? No wonder you're so dedicated. Who pays you, Americans against Canadians having opinions about Americans on Canadian forums? But, hey, it's a job, right? Somebody's got to do it, keeping the US constitution safe from Canadian opinions.
  12. You're not sure if you were instrumental in stopping Ahmed Ressam by being on this forum? How delusional of you, but then typically American grandiosity. Some Canadians worry all day about what's going on in the US. You worry all day about them worrying all day. Ironic.
  13. Millions isn't real money anymore. So out of all the web sites hosted near Shrub's farm, you picked this one to defend America against? Why?
  14. Yep, I'm sure your contribution on this forum was instrumental in that.
  15. I'm one of those. You can't read his speech to Republicans to know he has a hidden agenda. But his primary agenda is power, so he's willing to put his hidden agenda on the back burner, because he knows he'd be voted out.
  16. It's sad. So you've been fighting the good fight here for years? How's that going for ya? America still safe from Canadians? No Tigers in your back yard either,. I bet.
  17. I would have chosen a different orifice to make that point.
  18. Well, I certainly shook my head, since once established the gun registry costs next to nothing. Might as well keep it. Poorly implemented for sure, tho. But you've come to Canada to tell Canadians to not tell Americans.... As I say, you want to protect your constitution, your fight is at home, not here.
  19. wow, paranoia does strike deep. You really think you're fighting the good fight here, protecting the US from losing your constitutional rights? You really should take a look at your country, the the constitutional rights your own government is infringing to "fight terrorism." for instance. If you think coming on this forum telling people to stop telling Americans what to do is protecting America, you have a serious problem.
  20. What would you have us do? You even tell us to stop telling you how to vote, so obviously you don't want to listen to us, who've found a better way. So what can we do except shake our heads. I'm sure if you ask for our help, we'd be glad to give it, since we are a generous people.
  21. stop telling Canadians on a Canadian forum to stop telling people in the US how they should vote. What the hell are you so worried about? You think this forum is going to influence Americans to become a bunch of socialist anit-gun people? The only Americans I see on this forum are you and American Woman, defenders of the American way. Why are you so insecure that you feel the need to come on a Canadian forum to defend the US from Canadians expressing their opinion?
  22. We can't do anything, really, except to sit back and shake our heads. Doesn't mean we don't have an opinion on the matter tho. Personally I'm not for banning the NRA, but the politicians growing a pair and telling them to fark off. Or, you know, the IQ of Americans to rise a bit. Maybe all those Canadians emigrating there will do that.
  23. Thanks for that info - puts a lie to the whole "a good guy shooting a bad guy saved the day" thing. If he was a half decent shot, and was aiming to kill, since he got off 30 rounds we can assume maybe 10 deaths before the good guy shot the bad guy.
  24. It's not. That's were AA loses support. If they give preference to under represented groups who meet the same qualifications, then AA has my full support. But when they do what you describe, no way. For one thing, it's a kind of racism/sexism that says non-whites and women can't be as good as white males. Seems to me it would also lead to it being recognized within the organization that the white males are superior employees. So then the organization has to have further discriminatory policies for advancement, because the non-whites and females will be competing with superior white males.
