  1. Interesting. Even the Catholic Church seems to agree with evolution to some extent. Interesting, because evolution as we know it contradicts the bible, where humans were created on the 6th day (I believe). Then again, the bible contradicts itself when it comes to creation
  2. The Catholic Church accepts that humans evolved over billions of years, rather than being created by God? That's what I meant when I said evolution. I guess I should have said "human evolution". My mistake.
  3. If you were an employer, and your employee refused to do part of their job, even if it was a small percetage of their total duties, would you fire this person? Or would you be Ok with it? Where would you draw the line? A fired doctor can find work elsewhere too. I do not know of anywhere in the person who works at McDonald's contract that it states the person MUST serve hamburgers. Ok, so if you were this woman you'd be pretty pissed of at the doctor too, right? You'd give the finger to this doctor just like you would to the cabbie? Earlier you said you agree 100% with the doctor's actions...does that mean you agree 100% with the cabbie's (the one who refused to take you & your alcohol) actions as well?
  4. Sure, and I'll bet people in other professions have their own convictions as well. Imagine a vegetarian working at McDonald's who refused to serve customers hamburgers because they contain meat. I wonder how long that person would keep their job for. Or a Muslim taxi driver who refused to carry passengers with alcohol because it goes against his religious beliefs. I'm sure you'd agree with that 100% as well, right?
  5. It runs on hydroelectric power. Got anything else...preferably something where everyone is on board?
  6. Great. How do you suggest we go about doing that?
  7. Of course I don't think that's fair. I think I made it pretty clear that I don't support what this woman says...it just so happens that I kept my post concise rather than taking her to task for everything she said (which would have meant a lot more typing )
  8. The woman is a representative of the community which does. You accused her of financing terrorism. Do you think just because she shares the same religion as some people who finance terrorism, that automatically means that she does as well?
  9. Are you suggesting that Charles has an anti-conservative bias? Only if "conservative"="big government"...
  10. You have some reason to believe this woman was financing terrorism?
  11. I say, to each his own! I don't understand why some people feel the need to push their morality on others.
  12. I think they have one already... They're called Young Conservatives...... Ouch!
  13. I couldn't have said it better myself.
  14. The Sex Party doesn't sound very inclusive. What about the virgins? Maybe someone should start a "Virgin Party of B.C."?
  15. I haven't seen Charles post anything recently. I don't know if he just hasn't been around, or whether he no longer contributes to the discussion. The thing is, everyone (and therefore every potential moderator) has an opinion. As long as they are not actively participating in the discussion, I can't see any problems.
  16. The latest... "Russian President Vladimir Putin is making an astonishing bid to grab a vast chunk of the Arctic - so he can tap its vast potential oil, gas and mineral wealth. His scientists claim an underwater ridge near the North Pole is really part of Russia's continental shelf. One newspaper printed a map of the "new addition", a triangle five times the size of Britain with twice as much oil as Saudi Arabia. " Link Should we be worried?
  17. No silly, God pushes them back down to earth. Duh! Link
  18. Try to keep your original argument in mind when you go off on a tangent...Are you trying to say that immigrants who come to Canada don't believe in democracy? Or that they commit genocide? I've always said that immigrants who come to Canada must obey our laws, and speak at least one official language. Since most immigrants to Canada do obey the law, what aspect of their culture (that is, the culture of immigrants coming to Canada) is inferior to our culture?
  19. In that case, here's a few articles for you: Link 1 Link 2 You can do a search on google for more information, but that should get you started. I said the Universe does have a limit. You can check out This article to find out why. I also said time does have a beginning. I've told you several times now that I never claimed to prove God doesn't exist. The first couple of times you tried to bring this up, I thought it was an innocent mistake on your part...but now I KNOW you are just trolling. It's exactly the same argument that theists make to argue that humans can not have popped into existence (through evolution) because they are too complex. This is what I have been saying all along. It seems you now agree with me.
  20. Apparently you have the time to respond with such useless remarks, and yet you don't have time to answer the question about how your culture is superior to every other culture in the world.
  21. I already said there was nothing before the Universe. Who says matter can't originate from nothing? Matter can in fact originate from nothing, and it's seems a lot more probable than saying that God originated from nothing, don't you think? You are twisting my words. I'm not sure if you are intentionally twisting them, or whether you don't understand what I am saying. I'll try to be clear as possible. Both matter and God can, in theory, be created. In fact, we know that matter can be created from nothing. What we don't know is whether God can be created from nothing, but since God is much much more intelligent/complex than simple matter, it is much less likely for God to be created out of nothing. In my argument you quoted above, I said God must have been created in order to exist. I never said it was impossible for God to be created. Again, if you think I said this please show me where so that I can correct this mistake...
  22. Multiply the time that has passed since the creation of the Universe by the speed of light. No. Most estimates put the age at 15 billion years. I can't say for certain if that is correct, but it's irrelevant. How? Most likely something resembling the "big bang". It started from nothing. see above By definition, absolutely nothing. Of course it does, what are you talking about? No. I did no such thing. I argued that it's easier for me to believe a relatively unintelligent being can be created from nothing, than a super intelligent God being created from nothing. True. The beginning of time was the beginning of the Universe. Space and time are intricately linked. Read up on the theory of relativity. It's not impossible at all. Show me where I said God is impossible so I can correct my mistake. Once again, I said it seems to me that it's much more probable for humans to come from nothing than it is for a super-intelligent being to come from nothing. That's all I'm trying to argue here. Anything else is a strawman.
  23. If you're trying to argue that believing in God is not rational or logical, well then I guess I can agree with you on that much. I never said the existence of the Universe is impossible, but thanks for making up that strawman. I just have an easier time believing that simple particles can pop into existence than I do believing that a super-intelligent being can simply pop into existence. Neither are impossible, one just happens to be much, much more probable than the other.
  24. How do you know this? If it was in the article I must have missed it. You mean they were willingly searched "with gloves"? I would have turned around at that point...
  25. In other words, you don't have an answer and are trying to avoid the question.
