Wrong, they bailed out all of their banks and gave the taxpayer/Europe the bill. Their gov't got stupid with imposing lax lending standards like the USA. What's funny is that with all the austerity, no politician in Ireland is touching corporate taxes, why is that, and please no tin foil hat answers.

Occupy Wall Street Sept 17 2011

When you get foreclosed on and make bad decisions, typically people like to play the blame game. -
Is Israel about to bomb bomb bomb Iran?
blueblood replied to olp1fan's topic in The Rest of the World
Tell that to the Iranians. What do they need nukes for then? -
Holy move the goalposts. First it's 1% of Canadians, now it's 1% of households, what next 1% of Canadians with jobs? Ctv says that I'm in the 1%, and I'll go with that over jacees arbitrary figures pulled from the sky. And no citation with it. Throw down your called.

350,000*17,500,000= 6,125,000,000,000 what's that twitter saying, ahh #fail
-
Um you forgot a zero on that there 35,000. 1% of 35 million is 350,000. Which makes jacees claim even more ridiculous.

I know it's peanuts. My fertilizer bill is enough to easily put somebody in the top 5%.

The gilded age had zero income taxes and low gov't spending. At the same time people turned from being farm laborers to creating the middle class. That's an example from history, and why we don't follow it I don't know. Read august1991's post on what modern day consumers have vs what they did long ago and vs the rest of the world. An iPad computer is less than a thousand dollars, a computer in the 1950s was unattainable. That's how society benefits.

Why don't those buffoons writing the article state if it's after tax or not. Grrrrrrrrrr!!!

The bond vultures mostly and the credit downgrade helped. Manning made it so that Martin got away with cutting spending when going to the electorate in 97. It was the exact opposite parliament back then. Opposition amounted to "you didn't do enough of the right thing" vs today's opposition amounting to "your wrong and were right". I forget where it was on tv, but the person said it was very unique circumstances in cdn. History which allowed for that to take place.

Refer to the gilded age. Highest Period of economic expansion in the USA. And yes I am a 1 per center. That line that's a shooting star is what happens when you save your money and have a succession plan instead of blowing your money on consumption. I live in a small house built in the 30s because dropping 6 figures on a new house is preposterous. I drive a truck that's a couple of years old because buying a brand new vehicle loses a lot of it's value in the first couple years. Hell the banker lives in the trailer court in my town. People need to smarten up.

Deregulation gave he USA economy the best economic growth possible Gilded age late 1800s Society prospered then, why couldn't it now? No, it was gov't intervention that caused problems. Since gov't decided to intervene more and more, there have been more and more problems.

The same way those characters in Hollywood do. Preach about how the rich should contribute more and at the same time hire the best accountants money can buy to maximize income tax deductions.

Tricked???? I don't think so. All we need is stats, and the stats show that the closer we are to free enterprise, the more society prospers. He'll, china is copying our way of doing business after the soviet model was proven a complete disaster. The only people who are tricked is those buying into marx's ideology that socialism is the key to prosperity.

And Venezuela can't even provide electricity for its country, has sky high inflation, and a much lower standard of living. Thank you!!!

Great, more tax and more red tape. What a brilliant idea, no wonder you were foreclosed on.

The Federal Republic of Canada

No doubt, isn't a big part of the gg's job is that when there is a situation involving parliament, they have to intervene? It might not happen much, but when it does someone qualified should do it and not some random celebrity. -
Yes they ban alcohol consumption on may long weekend in parks. Also campgrounds have strict rules about quiet time after 11 and will punt you out if you are causing a disturbance. Try again. Uh those people eventually get released from jail and get the slate wiped clean. Some got compensated. Far better off than risking your life getting into a situation with the cops. If your innocent, what's there to worry about? So every person should be hostile when dealing with the police? You fail again.

What's funny about the NCAA, southern Methodist university in Texas gets the death penalty for their players taking money, yet Penn state is getting off the hook. I think a good message to send is that if staff is involved with that sort of thing, slap on the death penalty for that school. Given how draconian it is in NCAA athletics, other schools would smarten up their hiring standards. I think it's a far more appropriate use than for that punishment and easier to enforce than the big no no of paying college athletes to play.
