First Nations ban pipelines to west coast
blueblood replied to jacee's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I don't mind paying off the fn's for land access, the oil companies pay everyone else, but they have to be realistic and take some money or no money. I posted an example of a successful fn in Saskatchewan in another thread hat works with private partners and enjoys an unemployment rate of 4% And then we have the op who thinks that the oil sands pipeline shouldn't be developed in the first place, I mean really? -

Nope, she wants the oil in the ground. How dare we westerners become rich -
OV is a one trick pony and the league found out his trick.

UK secretly helping Canada (Harper) with oil sands
blueblood replied to Topaz's topic in Health, Science and Technology
Umm in case you haven't noticed, oil trades on the world market. When you don't develop the oilsands, that restricts the price of oil causing the price to rise, and given European finances, that's something they really can't afford. By restricting oilsands developing, it makes middle eastern oil more expensive. If the eu wants to go broke paying for oil they can't afford, they can have at it. Like I said, they can go freeze in the dark. -

No, my answer is ranch up interest rates which will intice people to square off their debts. When the bank gets full of cash, they lend again as there will always be borrowers as banks flush with reserves will be eager to loan out once again. As timg says, this system is like a sharp kitchen knife. Who do we want handling the knife, a 5 yr. Old or his mom? -
And the conservative ralph klien fixed alberta's finances when oil prices were at near rock bottom prices. Wall made royalties more competitive and took some business from Alberta. Wall just destroyed his NDP counterpart. It's not an irrelevant deflection. Trudeau was the worst fiscal manager in history. Mulroney, not only had to deal with his deficit, he had to deal with rising interest rates to service that debt which made the deficit larger. Paul Martin got marching orders from the bond vigilantes to curb spending or else, and did so with half the liberal caucus kicking and screaming the entire way. Manning was telling him to cut more. I can only imagine the size of deficit if it was Liberals in a minority situation, heck they were saying spend more. Canada wasn't in a big as hole as the rest of the world, 39% of Canadians realized that and picked stability. Don't worry, you guys have Trudeau who started this madness in the first place.

What green energy, the kind that doesn't give a positive return on investment, the kind that doesn't come close to as efficient as hydrocarbon combustion? In case you haven't noticed natural gas is as cheap as borscht right now because of shale gas. We won't be needing solar and wind for quite some time. Let it die. Not only that, the Chinese pay us an arm and a leg for said energy. We're not giving it away.

I saw those games, Kane was a nothing burger on defense. Heck there was big controversy in Chicago about making Kane a second line center because of his defensive liabilities and it's only very recently that he improved them. However, he won a cup being the weak link on defense. For an elite player to get defensive, that player has to want to be defensive. Ov doesn't not want to be defensive, to counter at McPhee can upgrade his blue line and his third line. Some players have success playing defensively such as datsyuk and some don't.

Your damn rights it's a factor. 200 pounds is the magic weight. At 200 pounds a person is large enough to adequately defend themselves from most one on one situations. Providing their muscle to fat ratio is in a healthy ratio. A 200 pound person has a better shot of defending themselves against a larger person than someone who is 160 pounds. Obviously we are leaving out the wildcard of experience/martial arts etc.

It's far better to ease credits with cash in the bank than go through open market operations. It's a sounder way of loaning out money. And if the money supply contracts, that means lower prices. Banks won't fail when people pay back loans, when that happens they just loan out more. Your previous post skirts around my issue and our main difference. Your not hating the players, your hating the game. I'm hating the players, not the game. -
My bleacher report article said Kane was notorious for not back checking, I'll go with their opinion on the matter.

Oh, you have much to learn about animal science. Fish farming is new and producers haven't yet found a production method that results in tasty meat (unless you count dousing said fish in Cajun batter). You take a steer fed grass vs. A steer that has been corn fed and tell me which steak is better. As for making shark farming profitable like most other things produced there can be zero waste in order to break even. Heck cattle slaughter has next to no waste, almost the entire animal is used. Same as refining oil. Catching sharks for just the fin made as much sense as the buffalo hunt.

Kane is one of the offensive catalysts on that team, being a leader means nothing. OV is captain because management wanted the capitals to be his team and was a carrot for him to stay there. It wouldn't put it past me if ov was a figurehead. New jersey has one of the fewest goals for in the eastern conference. Kovy was brought in to score, not back check.

It will be western Canada feeding growing Asia that will get us through. What will be troubling is when china realizes they don't need Europe and the USA and let their yuan rise. When that happens the Chinese will have more purchasing power which will cause commodities to take off.

Oh right the period of time where e USA had the highest growth in it's history. They went through small recessions every 5-8 years. Recessions aren't the bogey man you make them out to be, they correct the market and bring prices down when they get too high. Krugman thinks prices should rise in perpetuity and that we should go into debt to ensure that. Well that doesn't work, bills have to be paid, the only failure is Krugman policies which Europe swallowed lock stock and barrel. Do you think all recessions are severe? Do you seriously think that house prices should rise in perpetuity? Prices have to fall to encourage buying, that's why oil futures are always going up and down. You cannot pay people for doing something that is non-productive. Krugman wants us to pay for consumption of things that aren't of productive value. It's like 5 people being stranded on a deserted island. Four of them forage for food, build shelter, look for wood. The other one has the job of doing nothing but eat. What you and Krugman are stating that without that person eating, there would be no point of those other four doing all that work, really? Same goes for the broken glass theory, what you and Krugman suggest is that we should break all the glass in town so that the store keepers and homeowners will buy windows from the window guy and there is money flowing in the economy. What you don't realize that with all that spending, in the long run society is poorer, Krugman isn't fit to run a hamburger stand. It is far better to square off the debt, save money, and let the economy purge all the malinvestments. -
Your right on that aspect. If the bully gets to look like a douche in front of everyone, he tends to stop out of shame. The problem is pulling it off.

That's the establishing of the pecking order I was talking about. You said the bully enjoyed getting attention from their audience and empowerment. In the bullies eyes, he's carving out his place in the schools hierarchy. That depends on what school you go to. I've heard of some schools where the grade 12s paddle the grade 9s with sticks, or worse yet, an outcast in grade 12 might get an ego boost by tormenting grade 9s.
