  1. abc campaign worked in NL, but no major changes out east.
  2. didn't the crime rate in cali take a drop?
  3. Yes those civil rights protests by Martin Luther King Jr. were a complete waste of time
  4. Things have wound down to a close and it will be interesting to see what the results are and the consequences of the results...
  5. i agree, i could care less about fortier, it makes the cpc look bad. The Liberals are shut out of western canadian rural ridings, do they appoint senators from western rural ridings into cabinet? Edmonton and Regina elected a Liberal when the Libs were in power and they got a seat in Cabinet. If Vancouver, Toronto, and Mtl. did the same, they can get their MP in cabinet too.
  6. Bob Rae will never ever be leader of the CPC, he has the financial accumen of a spoiled rich girl. He was booted out of office in Ontario and the NDP was decimated there. Why would the CPC bring in someone whose financial outlook is the exact opposite of their party principles? Just because Rae is a potential xenophobe? Take a look at the CPC, they have lots of immigrants or sons/daughters of immigrants, hell I live in the redneckest riding of Canada and my CPC MP is an immigrant. Xenophobia does not fly in the CPC.
  7. Holy crap, that useless Easter is finally going to be gone!!! Praise Jesus!!!
  8. I`m saying the millionaire has the right to jump ahead in line. BY doing this he`s going to a private clinic which is taxed and doctors are making comparable wages to public health workers (if they ammend the Health act). When doing so he`s freeing up space in the public system so a poor person can get medical care more quickly. Everyone still gets health care, just more efficiently. Plus it`s better for the economy and tax system to boot.
  9. yes i consider that treason. The west has a way of making its voice heard, it`s called protest parties. Also its denying the Liberals majority gov`ts.
  10. Toaster comment of the year. See lefties, I don't play favorites. Even if something that proposterous did happen, the western wing of the CPC would form another party. Bob Rae and any form of an economy do not mix.
  11. Should a millionaire be eating in a soup kitchen??? If a millionaire is eating in the soup kitchen, he is taking a bowl of soup away from someone who actually needs it and taking space in line. In Canada we have regulations and controls for everything, private clinics would fall into this. I can see salary caps adjusted for inflation and taxes for the private clinics. They have something like this in Europe.
  12. Everyone in Canada knows what the question meant, your turning the question into a riddle. Dion got roasted and will pay the price in the polls. Deal with it.
  13. True, even though it's not social conservative, it's just tough on crime. All parties in some way or another are tough on crime, Layton even suggests harsh sentances for handgun crimes, oh the horror!!!
  14. Reinstated death penalty, criminalizing abortion, making homosexuality illegal, making Christianity the official religion of Canada True or false?
  15. That is not right wing, that is xenophobic. No wonder they call the right scary...
  16. As for that tinfoil hat post, give it a rest. If Harper invoked anything that you are fearing, that spells the end of the CPC. Harper threw the evangelical wing of his party under the bus with the free SSM vote. Harper wants to govern in a democracy and that means caving on certain things, "social conservatism" being one. As for refering to people who live in the prairies as rednecks and neanderthals, it's that exact attitude as why left wing parties will never get elected out here and why the Liberal party will never ever get a majority government again with a united Conservative party. We might drive around with gunracks in our trucks, but we aren't stupid, it's a shame the Liberals will never realize their gaffe.
  17. We both know you criticize the tories for being mean spirited, I agree there and it doesn't bother me. However the Liberals are just as mean spirited, and you beat the drum about tories being mean spirited. Apparently some poster thinks I am a trained CPC seal, when I have on numerous occassions spoken out against some tory policies. If this is the best response you can come up with for me pointing out a Dion gaffe and calling him to task on it, your wasting bandwidth and time. If Dobbin is allowed to criticize the tories for being mean spirited knowing full well the Liberals are just as mean spirited, I get to criticize the Liberals as well knowing full well the tories are mean spirited. It's called politics. Dion got burned, and could pay a big price plus tax at election time.
  18. I've criticized Quebecers for putting arts funding at a higher priority than the economy, I've not been happy with Harper's campaign as of late. I'll defend my post, so it's alright for you to attack Harper, but I can't attack Dion? JDobbin gets that luxury, why don't I???
  19. Boohoo, Dion got roasted. It's alright to roast Harper on his gaffe in Quebec, but it's not alright to attack Dion, please. Tit for Tat. As for the Liberals not being mean spirited, lets look at their campaign against Stockwell Day for believing in something (apparently Christianity isn't proper for a PM) and the whole Harper scary scary thing. Harper thinks Dion is incompetant and now can back it up. Harper should be attacking more, the mean spirited defence is like trying to make fun of Harper being a tory. The Liberals might pay the price for this one plus tax.
  20. We could possibly be in one., it's a known fact that the economy is in turbulent times. To have the PM say that we are in a recession now or the economy is tanking is flat out irresponsible. My point still stands, raising taxes at this point in time is proposterous especially hitting our resource sector which is keeping this country afloat.
  21. raising taxes in a recession is not a good idea. Forcing business away is not a good idea. I'm going to take someone who's a grad student in finance argument a lot more seriously than leftist posters on here. I'll say he knows what he's talking about.
  22. Very interesting, Harper could win a minority and let the left form a coalition and tank the economy and do the "I told you so" to the electorate the next time around, or he can put his plan into action and hope the liberals sit on their hands again. You are right in a way, Harper never comes out a loser. The thing that drives me nuts is, it's going to be another 300 million for a majority.
