A drivers licence is a voluntary privilege. If you dont want the chip, dont get a license. I for one think privacy should be a right....in some forms. selling of our personal information by the post office, ect. should be illegal. telemarketers are driving me nuts right now. they call about 10 times a day, up until 10 at night and now they even have recorded messages. if i dont answer and it goes to my answering machine, i have to check my messages, sit through the message and then delete it. how annoying. and i even pay to have my number listed as private. im prepared to just use my cell phone and change the number every couple of years just to get rid of that invasion of my privacy.

Dion a drag on already floundering Liberals.
sideshow replied to Michael Bluth's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
My take is a little different. Id see it more as: Duceppe - sell (no chance of growth in foreseeable future, tired and yesterdays news) Layton - buy (undervalued with good growth potential, and is charismatic) Dion - sell (long-term outlook is bleak, has the charisma of a rotten potato) Harper - buy (with time will grow more statesmenlike if he can keep his radicalism in check) I think the Conservatives have it bang on in a few areas (as did the liberals in a few), and this minority government situation is keeping their more out there ideas in check. I, for one, am quite happy with the way the government is moving along right now. There is less unilateralism, and more ideas from the different parties are getting injected into things. -
Just a question. You don't think that a hundred years of payments is enough? I would be in favour of a lump sum payment and cutting the cord, but to be honest, the money would just go to a few rich chiefs and their families and would do nothing for the people that need it. The big problem I have is the cradle to grave people on welfare. If you can't support yourself because you simply will not go to work, you should not be having children and having someone else support them cradle to grave as well. The cycle has to stop.

I don't think that there are anymore white supremacists on this site then there are native supremacists, black supremacists, etc. People have views, and when someone does not believe in the politically correct mantra of forced immigration (regardless of country of origin), multiculturalism, multilinguilism, lets all just hold hands, blame the rich, blame the state, marry a goat and smoke weed till we puke, they are labelled a racist, an elitist, etc. I think its perfectly fine for me to vote NDP because of their social conscience, agree with the Conservatives law and order agenda, agree with the liberals decriminalizing marihuana, and pro homosexual marriage, and not mind paying high taxes, yet not agree with FORCED multiculturalism, irresponsible immigration, welfare handouts, and still support our Police, Military, and yet oppose the war for oil in Iraq. I support Unions, I oppose Quebec (or Alberta) separation, I support the Canada Pension Plan and Employment Insurance, I oppose the majority of welfare. I don't need to fit into the small minded box that so many partisan people are stuck in. Get a job, be responsible for yourself, take care of your kids, mind your health, and get a life. Too many people are whiners and criers and don't want to take responsibility for themselves or those they are in charge of (children).

While not a Conservative voter, I can completely applaud the Conservative government for setting aside this land in the NWT as protected wilderness zones. Anyone else have thoughts on this? EDIT This was the opening post of a redundant thread entitled: 25 million acres saved by Conservatives which is no longer available. All of the original posts are preserved and the two threads are now merged into one.

TASER- A SAFE FORM OF POLICE INTERVENTION?
sideshow replied to Sam Steele's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Answer? Yes. Very safe. When people are in a state of excited delirium they can die just as easy from being wrestled to the floor as by being tasered. Sometimes the just "spaz" themselves and then die on their own. Usually stimulants like cocaine or speed are related to these incidents. As well, it can take 6 police officers to wrestle down a 140 lb kid when they are in a state of excited delirium. They are extremely strong, feel no pain or fear, and can be highly unpredictable. I would take a few accidental (on the part of the Police, in most cases these are avoidable by the suspect...ie. dont take drugs) deaths of drug induced people then a few deaths of Police. -
I spent a week in the hospital this year and thought the food was delicious. but then im not a fillet mignon kind of guy.

Should Canada allow more immigrants into the country?
sideshow replied to sideshow's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Nothing at all to do with racism smallc. This has to do with not allowing people into the country that really dont have anything to offer. If a large proportion of these unskilled labourers are from non caucasian groups, so be it. A suggestion. We could have someone at the airport ask each immigrant to provide their skills, education, and employability at the border. But we will get the person doing it to do it blindfolded. If 80% or whatever are non white, whatever. I could care less the colour of someones skin. We dont need unskilled whites any more then we need unskilled non whites. The fact of the matter is, is when you bring in unskilled people from Sudan, Ethiopia or whereever, where they are used to having armed children run through the streets, not only do they many times not end up adding to society positively, they actually add a negative influence to it with violence, drugs, etc. And your argument of population needed is irrational. Look at what the great population boom is doing in africa. If they stopped having babies at the rate of 10 a person, maybe they wouldnt have such widespread hunger, disease (AIDS), and all the other afflictions that were perpetrated by caucasians, but continued by the residents themselves. -
Not true. Reasonable Grounds for arrest/detention must be had before "frog marching him to jail". You cannot take an intoxicated person out of their own residence and detain them (at least in my jurisdiction) simply for being intoxicated. As well, an allegation must be supported by some sort of evidence to be sustainable for a detention. For instance. If the ex says he hit her, was there a witness? When did she say it happened? does he have an alibi for that time? Are there marks on her? If Police cannot verify any of this, no detention/arrest will take place. Example above.....an alibi.
