  1. I'm sure if you asked whenever a particularly difficult passage came along, someone (myself, for one) would be happy to translate.
  2. Quite possibly. At the very least it shows Harper knows he needs to improve his standing in the T-dot if he wants a majority next election. This is really disappointing news to hear.
  3. Seems to me that PM Harper is looking to bolster support in areas where he is weak. It's a good move on his part. The MP's from Toronto are obviously going to support this bill, and it'll make Harper appear less of a "Menace from the West" in the eyes of the urban GTA voter.
  4. I seem to remember that attack ads were not allowed in Canada, is this true? Perhaps it's only during an election campaign. Either way, my stance is that running ads that focus on the negative aspects of your opponents rather than your positive aspects is evidence of a weak platform, a weak leader, or a little mix of both. It's a dirty tactic, and if the Libs did it I'd feel the same way.
  5. From his earlier post..... Not sure what you're getting at here. CB is correct; a republic does not have a monarch as you suggested previously.
  6. CB is correct about the definition of a Republic. dictionary.com also lists:
  7. Absolutely not. Rational and reasonable thought prevents me from thinking otherwise.
  8. You should read about the holocaust. Jews called other Jews who were aware of what was really happening were labeled as nuts too. I love how you draw parallels between unconnected events in history. I think that the claims of those jews would have been more believable than the stuff you spout in this thread.
  9. I hope you are kidding.... By "quite a read" I meant it was long and arduous. After that, I'm surprised you don't.
  10. Phew. I just read all 95 pages, quite a read. PolyNewbie, you need to seek professional help.
  11. Canadienne, vous etes bienvenue avec nous ici sur mapleleafweb.com, meme si tout le monde n'est pas bilingue. Publiez vos messages en Francais et si ils sont trop dificiles, je suis certain que quelqu'un peut les traduire.
  12. What the article fails to mention is that water vapour acts as a positive feedback element, as I stated previously. CO2 is the largest of the non-water vapour contributors. Water vapour is not something we can do anything about. What should we do, then, if not work on reducing CO2 emissions?
  13. For those of us who aren't familiar, (read: me ) can someone please give a brief rundown of the CRTC's role in wireless? I thought their mandate only extended to television and radio.
  14. Actually your source does a pretty good job of measuring CO2's effect. Despite this fact, CO2 remains the largest human-made contributor to the greenhouse effect. Water vapour is indeed the largest. However, human activity does not have much of an effect on global concentrations of water vapour in the atmosphere. The water vapour acts as a positive feedback element. When CO2 and other GH gases cause temperatures to rise, the moisture content in the air also rises which contributes futher to the greenhouse effect and then a further increase in moisture content. So on and so forth. I see nowhere in your linked article that states that CO2 is so small it can barely be measured.
  15. Must we have this silly argument over semantics? Fine, okay, it's not a "pollutant" per se, but it's a greenhouse gas.
  16. 70% of industrial greenhouse gas release is CO2, more than methane and nitrous oxide combined. So what. So you can't just neglect CO2 in environmental considerations. Someone tried to tell us earlier that CO2 is not a pollutant.
  17. 70% of industrial greenhouse gas release is CO2, more than methane and nitrous oxide combined.
  18. By that logic then, what if someone had murdered Saddam Hussein and also faced the death penalty?
  19. I agree with geoffrey. Bob Rae stands little chance of being elected. He's possibly the most reviled politician by many Ontarians.
  20. I take it you disagree? Look it up.
  21. It can be, when it is released in excessive amounts. CO2 is a greenhouse gas.
  22. Nice try. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Crown#Oth...onwealth_Realms
