  1. All right. All you people who think that the Arrow was canceled because of some silly American conspiracy should retreat to your tinfoil-lined shelters. The Arrow was canceled because a) The prevailing view at the time was that missiles (specifically anti-bomber missiles and ICBM's) would come to dominate aerial combat. The original engines didn't provide enough thrust to meet government specifications, so the Iroquois engine was designed from scratch, necessitating a redesign of the engine housing of the Arrow Mk 2, drastically increasing the cost of the project. The Arrow Mk 1, which was tested by the military, was able to achieve Mach 2 at altitude, running on the underpowered engines (not the iroquois). Is this better than a CF-18? HAHAHAHA no. Was it very good for its time? Yes.
  2. Can you expect anything less from the NDP? They'll do anything to create controversy.
  3. Wow... a reference to AdScam. I love this tactic. Any time a left-winger says anything bad about the Tories, AdScam gets brought up quicker than a forest fire spreads during a drought. As if somehow, the adscam scandal gives the Conservative gov't carte blanche to do whatever it pleases. There's a term for this kind of argument.. but I forget what it is.
  4. Link please.
  5. Hopefully their strategists will realize that going further out to the left is NOT what the grits need right now. They need a centrist.
  6. My point exactly. My other point was that I think once the initial elation wears off, questions will be raised as to Harper's (relatively) poor showing.
  7. Good. I can't stand Dion and I'll be glad to see him fade into obscurity.
  8. Harper's already proved that only a passable control of the French language is required to win elections.
  9. I like the idea of a united Canada, but what I don't like is the way Ottawa constantly panders to Quebec and its politicians, the way a spoiled child gets attention by throwing a temper tantrum. Ottawa should do to Quebec what parents do to spoiled children - give them a swift kick in the ass.
  10. You should step back from your monitor, take a few deep breaths, and then go play outside or something. You seem awfully worked up about this. Drop the ad hominem attacks and the mud slinging before you get a very interesting thread locked. Or is that your goal? Riiiight. ------------------ I think that after 13 years the elation of finally being able to for a government has outweighed the disappointment at being stuck with only a minority twice in a row. It may be that as the initial novelty of being in power wears off, there will begin to be some whispers in the Tory back rooms. Why has Harper failed against a dismally weak Liberal party twice in a row? Is the third time really the charm or will we get more of the same if we keep him at the helm?
  11. When faced with a solid argument that you can't surmount, resort to personal attacks.
  12. Frankly I don't see how Rae will ever win a leadership race, given his track record in Ontario. Rae at the reins of the Liberals would be handing the Tories a propaganda/attack ad weapon of immense power.
  13. There really isn't something for everyone. This election was so full of dull, uncharismatic candidates that I can understand why voter turnouts are so low. The average Canadian votes for the leader of the party, not their local MP. And they got to choose between Creepy-Eyes, No-Words, The Hippie, The Separatist, and The Appeaser. Wow. Stellar.
  14. It's different because we're talking about the separation of Church and State. This is a religious issue, not a women's rights issue. We're dealing with one religion getting governmental preference over another. Any other topic just doesn't enter into the verdict.
  15. You can if you have a big enough tank. I'm sure we are going to see big improvements but it takes a lot of energy to make a lot of weight go fast, wherever it comes from. The companies could easily build such vehicles, it's just that they won't until their current products stop selling, and consumer polls tell them it's due to environmental/mileage concerns.
  16. IMHO, the separation between Church and State can never be far enough. I live in Ontario and I personally think that the publicly funded catholic school board is a disgrace. As to the claims that a law mandating the separation of church and state would not be enforceable, I disagree. Simply pass a law that says "either the state funds all religious institutions equally, or it funds none of them." Even the libs couldn't tax-and-spend enough to finance all that.
  17. Why, because they're Muslims?
  18. I live in a city and I need a vehicle. Public transit in London is horrible. There's no subway (we're not big enough, which is fine), the buses are unreliable and don't stick to a schedule, and the bus routes aren't efficient. It takes me half an hour to take the bus to my dentist, but only 5 or 10 minutes to drive there. Go figure :/
  19. Again, I wouldn't worry too much about CatchMe. Even in my short time here, I've noticed she has a tendency to run her mouth about thngs.
  20. What the hell is a "tat," anyways?
  21. I wash my hands of this thread. PN, your steadfast refusal to answer questions directly and stubborn insistence on clouding the issue has turned what could have been an interesting debate into a farce.
  22. Oh yes, that is the first thing everyone thinks of when they see the Canadian Flag! Not. More like the Red Cross or Swiss. Now take the initials CPCm every time I see it used, I automatically think of the Communist Party of Canada. I wasn't saying I agree with them, I just remember hearing in school that those were concerns raised.
  23. Why do you think it was named Katrina? The secret agenda of the elite neolib movement is well known to anyone with half a brain. Katrina is the name of Paul Martin's niece. Katrina (the hurricane) is named after her (Katrina (the person)). The Martins go vacationing in the Florida Keys with the Bushes. Cogito Ergo Sum, Katrina (the hurricane) was a deliberate attempt to prevent african americans from climbing the social/business ladders.
  24. Of course. The manner in which Katrina hit the New Orleans coast was clearly in violation of Kepler's Laws. Furthermore, any engineer who disagrees is a liar, helping to cover up the conspiracy.
  25. In the article you linked, the author frequently refers to the symmetrical collapse of the buildings. Images I've seen of the twin towers collapsing don't look very symmetrical to me.
