damn, forgot again.... Chuckman, welcome to the board.
-
Hey chuckman, Does this mean that you're NOT taking that job in the States? Darn. Oh well! You can just continue to saturate boards with that kind of slanderous drivel (with reference to George Bush's wars killing that many people...proof please!). Oh, and about Alberta, kiss my ass. You haven't got a clue about what the hell you're talking about. American? If we wanted to be American out here, we would have done it and there wouldn't be a damn thing you could do about it. Albertans are federalists (for the most part), so save your "just like american..." b.s. for your narrow minded club of buddies. HOWEVER....if I'm going to be American, do I get to use real paper money? Cool. Paranoid much?

"\" Do you really think anybody would choose the social assistance pittance to that?? "/" Yep, I see it at least every week. It makes me physically sick. The EI Ski Team. As long as we are paying able bodied people to sit on their ass, they will continue to sit on their ass. Now before anyone goes off thinking that I'm against EI or welfare or helping impoverished kids, let me throw this at you: My idea for EI/welfare We (the taxpayers) will continue to pay you XXX number of dollars. If you can work, and there is even one job available to you (regardless of pay), you MUST do it. We (the taxpayers) will top up your payments so that you "don't make more on welfare/EI". So if you currently receive, I don't know, $1500/month on EI, and the job at Wendy's pays $1080/month (rough numbers people!) then we (the taxpayers) will top you up an additional $420/month. BUT...if you don't work, you get ABSOLUTELY NOTHING...NADA...ZIP!!!!!

The Bloc. Or maybe a bloc of NDP's. But not the Liberals. Definitely not the Liberals. Or maybe the Marijuana Party. Yes, the Pot Party. Imagine Question Period. Harper (looking serious) proclaims that the government has just released it's fourth consecutive balanced budget. "CRUNCH" as the Pot Party Finance critic and the Heritage critic giggle and eat Doritos.

Sorry Hollus, forgot to say "Welcome to the board"

First of all, I have crews in Helmut every winter. -56? Celsius? Like on a thermometer? Really! And second of all, NOBODY earns an EI holiday. It's there for people who CAN'T FIND WORK, not able bodied people who don't want to. The fact that you don't think that you should work for less than $714 bi-weekly is b.s. I don't know who you were working for, but I've got GENERAL LABOURERS making $3800 gross monthly. Get a job, and quit sucking up the social programs unless you HAVE TO.

Who will be in power on Monday?

They come in red too (but those ones have little propellers!) -
Want a job? Come to Nisku, AB. If you can't find a job here, you're unemployable. Apparently this is not the case in a lot of Canada, as I am hiring from all parts of this country constantly. So, am I saying that everyone that doesn't have a job should move here? Not necessarily, but there's more work than people. It amazes me the people in this province that are on the dole because "they can't find a job". What a crock! The only unemployed people in this province WANT to be unemployed and take an "EI Vacation". Get off your ass.

Nobody told me about the Kimmy-hats!!! Where's mine? I want one, and please send the bill to Ottawa, c/o Smilin'-Jack "If one gets a hat, we all get hats" Layton. Can mine be blue? -
"\" News flash for everyone. Canadians already knew that Harper was from Alberta. Already knew that he proposed to give the provinces more taxing capacity. Already knew that there exists a small seperatist movement in Alberta. "/" As an Albertan who works in the oilfield, I come in contact with tons of people on a day to day basis (because of the type of work I do). Everyone from entry level workers to company execs. Let me tell you, there is considerably more of a "separatist movement in Alberta" than anyone likes to admit. I don't subscribe to the theory personally, but there is MAJOR anger out here towards the Lib's, and that is translating into the whole "screw em, we've got the resources" talk. Maybe Kimmy can put her two cents in here (that's $0.019 pre-tax). The general sentiment I'm getting out here is that if the Lib's were to get in, you would see the "Alberta Firewall" move ahead with great determination. I don't like it, but I can understand it. I don't believe that Martin intended for Buzz-bomb to shoot off his mouth that way because he looked waaaayyy too shocked during his retraction, and he's not that good of an actor.

hellnback, welcome to the board. Game on. First off, check your facts. The Liberal party has admitted to criminal activity, and has vowed to pay back stolen money. They are certainly not the only party to commit this type of crime, but they're the ones caught most recently. 2, the CPP is about as effective as a bladeless knife without a handle. Organized, legalized theft. Nothing more. 3, Trudeau split this country. He should have been convicted as a dangerous offender. His wonderful little ideas caused there to be Canada East and Canada West. 4, patriation of the Charter? Careful on this board, there are too many people (admittedly smarter than I) that would argue that point alone for hours. 5, eight surpluses are easy to accomplish. It simply involves moving numbers when convenient. Understate your revenue, and BOOM, you have a surplus. Steal from the EI fund much? 6, check your dates on the recession. Mulrooooooney was an ass, but it wasn't all his doing. I can say that and I hated the man. 7, the GST. The GST that Johnny Crouton promised to get rid of if elected. And here we are 12 years later. Still got the GST. 8, do you mean the FTA that the Liberals have had 12 years to do away with (tough, admittedly)? 9, the NDP. No comment. They are more than capable of defending themselves. Rovik??? Again, welcome to the board.

More irritated than angry and not a bad mood mar. It's just that the use of the word "equal" in this country is not equal. If it was, there would be a statute of limitations on "past crimes" committed by this government. Now, before anyone goes screaming "bigot" or the equivalent, understand that some of my very closest friends are native, and I hire tons of guys (and girls) and I couldn't care less if their skin was orange. But where is the equality in legislation? Was it when the SCC decided that Robin Sharpe had the same rights as my kids? Maybe I am in a bad mood. I think I will just ghost the forum for a while before I offend everyone. Usually I tend to use a bit of humor to get my point across, but this is the one thing........... Apologies

Make convicted gang members serve time in the military.

"\" I'm sorry (not really) but if I hear one more person blame youth crime on ME, I'm going to throw up on my non-subsidized shoes!!! Guess what? I'm society and so are you. These little bastards are not my fault, and they're not your fault. They are a product of themselves. Framework, my ass." Hey, I'm the last person who wants to stick up for these guys but it's not the military's fault either. "/" No offense to the CAF! (unintentional if it sounded that way) It was just the statement that I keep hearing that society this, and society that when it comes to youth crime. There was a time (my time) when I was held accountable for MY OWN ACTIONS. But this doesn't happen anymore. Shoot someone...must have had a poor childhood. Rob someone...must have had a mean dad. Knife someone...why won't anyone reach out to this poor, underprivelaged kid? Because he'll cut your hand off with the knife, that's why. -
"\" So the Canadian value is equality.... that all citizens have equal rights and protections and that IS a Canadian value to be proud of. "/" So mar, when do I get to be equal???? I don't speak French, so I can't work for the federal government. I'm caucasion, so I don't fit into the quota for RCMP in Alberta. I'm not First Nation, so me and my kids and their kids will have to pay GST and income tax for the rest of our lives. I'm not a politican, so 1/3 of my income will never be tax free. Again, when do I get to be equal? It's okay. I'll wait. That same Charter protects the wants of the few against what is good for the many.

Gee, no one seems to know anything about this. If you want, I could make up a story about a QC Liberal candidate and a student involving him paying her. It won't be true, but it could be funny. Seriously, I was watching CPAC today but I must have missed this. When was it on?

Hold on for a moment everyone...just for a sec. "\" I think youth are not interested in politics because theirs not enough pushing at school to vote. I am 16 turning 17 in a month and I have been interested in politics since i was 13 and I cannot wait to vote. I think the best thing for youth to get them to vote is having their peers, people the same age as them like me teling them why they should vote and kind of pushing them along as to their role in Canadian soceity. I think it would help alot because knowing that somone the same age as you is interested in this kind of thing really helps and they are more likely to listen to their peers than older adults preaching to them. "/" If you are willing to vote when you're legal, then I have one thing to say to you. Thank you. Okay, you bunch of self righteous Lib's and ND's - game on.

What Issues are most important to you?
Hydraboss replied to Timetrvlr's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
"\" I have a feeling a number of Canadians feel this way...that they'll roll the dice and see if the man they loathed two years ago has learned anything. Me, I'm not a gambler. I don't believe not saying something is the same as advocating a new position and I don't believe that a man who wanted to callously sacrifice the lives of Canadian troops to curry favour with a foreign leader in an invasion the majority of Canadians did not support is a man to be trusted. Ever. I can loan you a set of dice if you like, but they're blue. Let me know. Canadian troops deserve better than the present government (I'm ex-militia reserve read:short timer). You want to endanger troops? Keep doing what we're doing. Send them into actives without bullets or body vests for peacekeeping. They are just expected to what?...use harsh language? I'll gamble. My kids are worth it. -
Make convicted gang members serve time in the military.
Hydraboss replied to Harare's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
"\" Yes I would. As I said, I personally know some of 'these people', and what sets them apart is not so much morale integrity or character but oppertunity. Many of our criminals have been fighting battles their whole childhood, they have'nt had the chance to develop into contributing citizens because society hasnt provided them the frame work to succeed. The ciminal world exist partly as consequence of this. A gang member isnt devoid of the things that make a good soldier. I have no doubt that there are similarity between the two occupations. Lets not pretend our military is completely made up of morrally sound individuals, Ive met enough recruits through their civi jobs to know that their haiseing and love for weaponry isnt all about freedom and liberty. One thing is for sure: young criminals need the lessons that the military have to offer alot more than they need the ones our prison's teach. "/" I'm sorry (not really) but if I hear one more person blame youth crime on ME, I'm going to throw up on my non-subsidized shoes!!! Guess what? I'm society and so are you. These little bastards are not my fault, and they're not your fault. They are a product of themselves. Framework, my ass. rant/ -
In what world does Walmart pay minimum wage? Try $12/hr to pump gas, $11.85/hr as A GREETER at Wally World. If you follow the news in Edmonton, you would have seen the story where daycares bill the government more than individual parents. People have been denied spots (I know) because those same spots can bring in more money if they are billed to a subsidy program. (Global News, Edmonton, approx Jan 8/06) You want to hear bitching? Ask that woman that starts making just over the tax threshold amount, and watch her eyes when she realizes how much she is now paying in tax. That same mom (and I speak from personal experience) will scream and holler about "welfare bums" etc... that are getting her money.

Tory Ad responds to Liberal Ads

And why the hell should my tax dollars go to a daycare space so that poor, single mom can drop the monsters off and go to bingo? Oversimplified? Of course it is. The danger of generalizing people into income brackets is that it does not allow for individual circumstances. Point in fact: My wife and I have always both worked. WE HAD TO. When my wife went to find a daycare for our kids...they ask how much you make! Guess what??? WE MADE TOO MUCH and were told that we did not qualify for spots at the daycare one block away. We would have had to take them to the daycare about 30 blocks away (which I didn't trust). Solution? We paid OUT OF OUR POCKET for the monster-in-law to watch them. Can we receive funding for this? No chance. Equality my ass.
