You know what, GH, your self-righteousness is enough to make one vomit from time to time. You feel the need to "call me out" on a couple of posts where you obviously didn't follow the preceding conversation, do you? The moment anyone feels the need to be spoken down to by you I'm sure they'll let you know. Go back and read my posts again beginning on the previous page - Eyeball is more than capable of handling his own exchanges and responding in kind, which is exactly what I did. I wasn't aware that you had taken over Michael's job. Please have the good grace to inform the rest of us the next time it happens. Khadr is a terrorist. Khadr should have been executed on the field when the American troops got to him. Khadr most certainly should not be released from his cement bedroom into my town. I agree with another poster here that the best cure for him at this point in time would be for Egypt to ask and be granted his extradition. I know that doesn't agree with your personal views, nor do I care. The next time you wish to come after me with such bias...don't. You're ill equipped to do it properly.

Ahh. I see. It's only "garbage" if someone you disagree with says it. Understood GH.

Are Ontario teachers really going to Strike?

Because "it's for the children" Simple. -
Perhaps. You know what I can't stand? Those criminals who capture and kill poor, defenseless fish in the ocean. Many of them have children but, no, "those people" don't care. And what of those "so called people" that pollute the oceans with their internal combustion, greenhouse gas emitting boat motors? The horror! See how easy it is to sound ridiculous by stretching other people's comments to the extreme? Damn fishermen.

"The left" is protected by law. Kind of like other endangered animals.

Alberta Election May 2015
Hydraboss replied to Michael Hardner's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
This is really interesting. With regards to the chart I posted above, the NDP only have a 20% chance of gaining seats in the "average to high" range (38-45 seats) as opposed to the WR having a 41% chance (34-42 seats). Rachel stands a better chance (30%) of landing in the "low to average" range (26-38 seats). This is a little closer to my prediction (which of course will be the correct one). -

I think maybe you're equating "natural" with "good". That is causing confusion. -
State-condoned after a guilty verdict at trial for heinous crimes? Absolutely.
-
And "the left" is exactly what is wrong with this country. That little ***** should have been summarily executed on site. Now my city has to deal with him.
-
Then he's only got another 60-70 years left of time owed. Or we could just do him in now - which would be the right choice.

That murderers should spend life in prison. Only if the death penalty isn't available (which it should be for scum like this).

Are Ontario teachers really going to Strike?

Thanks Michael. I seem to have missed that whole portion of the discussion. So Mikedavid00....uhm...Socialist thinks that teachers have stress levels that make all other jobs "pale" in comparison? Really? Oh Socialist....where ARE you????? -

He never said she was a weak politician, he said she was not a natural. There's a difference. I wasn't a "natural" public speaker when I started in my industry 20+ years ago, but after this long giving presentations in front of up to 3000 people a couple of times a year, I'm a "natural" now. Same with Rachael. She may not have been a natural debater/politician, but you can be pretty sure she's been groomed for the position. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reading_comprehension -

Teachers are not "unemployed" for two months - their salaries are paid a 1/12 annual income each month so they are actually paid for all 12 months. Not that he would grasp that. -

Topaz, generally teachers (once retired) are no longer on the "company" benefit plan. They have the access to private plans that every other citizen does. As for pensions, those are covered under individual CBAs so not all teachers collect the same but every one is still far more generous than any even remotely similar private pension plan (see: defined benefit vs defined contribution). Now when a teacher has worked under multiple CBAs, I can't say that I know how their monthly amount(s) are calculated - whether they collect all of the various pensions at pro rated amounts or they collect just the amount specified in the last active one. I currently collect a small pension from my wife's union (Alberta nurses) and, while small, it is defined benefit and will continue until 15 years after my death and be paid to my kids. In all likelihood, it will pay out more in gross income than my corporate one which is considerably larger just due to the DB factor (friggin amazing!). edit->sp -
Alberta Election May 2015

Polls don't mean a damn thing in this province. The NDP had strong polling results, and it may even be stronger after last night. Unfortunately for Rachael, increasing the percentage of decided voters in ridings she was already likely to win doesn't help her one bit. Now, if there were some "balance of undecided" ridings, those could certainly be swayed but the majority of those tend to be between the PCs and the Wildrose. NDP ridings are NDP ridings (or Liberal/Alberta Party). -

But every time Notley scored a point on Jim, it worked in Jean's favor with those who will never vote NDP. The only place for conservative voters to go, if not to the PCs, is to the WR. Rachael > Jim = Brian -
Exactly. I don't seem to remember anyone "coming to my rescue" while I was working 12-18 hours a day up north seven days a week. I pay more in income taxes than anyone "below the poverty line" makes in a year, so forgive me if I have absolutely no sympathy for those who don't work. Or save. Or buy things they can't afford. Apparently hard work is something to be looked down upon.

PC 41 NDP 19 Wildrose 26 Liberal 1 That really burns me to have to predict the PC minority (ANY win by the PCs sucks), but Jean blew it last night and it was his to win. Rachael dominated things but she doesn't stand a chance outside of Edmonton (which she'll take) and Calgary (where I think she'll get some). Rural Alberta will not go NDP and at this point will punish the PCs somewhat. I'm being overly generous even giving the Liberals one seat (I think almost all their support and that of the Alberta party will go to the NDP thanks to the performance of Gandalf the Grey last night). The only saving grace for the WR last night was that the more Notley beat up Jim, the more people that were moved to vote WR instead of PC. She did Brian's work for him. (edit -> you're two seats short by the way) -
You're correct that I don't make the "median" income in this country, but I'm also the kind of person that doesn't take vacations and concentrated on paying off my debts. Being debt-free allows people to do silly things - like invest in TFSAs and such. If I wanted the bigger $600k+ house and the ridiculous car payments and $10k vacations every year, I'd be in the same mess as everyone else. My retirement is looked after, but there are so many of you that begrudge that fact and the fact that I plan on getting my kids off to the same start. You don't need to be "rich" to be a smart money manager. You just need a little self control. (by the way, the "median income" in Alberta for 2012 was $94,460 so if you can't save a little when you're making that, it's your own damn fault) http://www.statcan.gc.ca/tables-tableaux/sum-som/l01/cst01/famil108a-eng.htm
-
Oh for christs sake...I'm not rich but I couldn't give a damn about 10k a year when it comes to investments. And we're actually only talking about $5000 since it was already at $5500. Got news for you....if another "financial crisis" hits, this paltry amount of money won't mean a bloody thing if I'm losing 20X that in investment fallout. $41,000 since inception. That's it. Not exactly a startling amount now is it? Do you actually think the increase is some kind of "gift" to me? Not even in the least. Now it may benefit my kids soon, but they don't make much (both students) so with any luck they will use the benefit in time. edit->sp

Alberta Election May 2015

Maybe the feds should start by taking over all the hydro in Kwebek first, just to see how that goes. Always wise to run test samples before going whole-hog, wouldn't you say? -
Likely because transit projects = votes from the GTA. Remember, a politician NEVER stops campaigning (the smart ones don't anyway). Same reason Mandel in Edmonton kept pushing for the new bridges and roads in south Edmonton to look like Toronto, LA and Houston when simple, straightforward designs would have worked. His votes came from the unions which make up the majority of the workers on those projects.

RT News?? CIA stats?? Ha! Too funny! If ever there was a complete junk news supplier, that's it. No wonder your arguments make no sense.
